  1. Not trying to push a thread tangent, just the idea. We installed a fresh air exhaust on my buddy’s boat and modified our turn spin by a couple hundred feet at one end of the course. it addressed an influential lake neighbor’s gripe about early slalom skiers on a public lake. Yeah, we had full right to be there, but we tried to understand this guys motivation to change boating hours. Loud pipes don’t save lives. They just annoy people.
  2. Sounds to me like they are picking or inventing an issue. Is their concern really water quality? Or are they annoyed with boat noise, traffic patterns, or hours of power boat activity, etc? Sometimes people are truly unreasonable. But before battle lines are drawn, I’ve found a conversation can lead to a workable compromise or problem solving.
  3. A ski without bindings does hum a bit like a tuning fork when thumped….
  4. I had this happen on a ski 10-15 yrs ago. The screw wasn’t impossibly seized in the insert. I held the insert with a pliers to back mounting screw out. My original inserts had a slotted head, so I applied a little bit of clear epoxy and turned them back in. Careful not to overdo it on epoxy amount so I didn’t fill inside of insert. Lasted me for the years I kept using the ski.
  5. 6-8 small Zip ties a perfect solution there. Much faster than sewing.
  6. Thanks all for the input. This is MN, since just last week 6:30 am conditions changed from 71 air/73 water to 39 air/56 water. Broke out the dry suit and hood this morning. The end is near.
  7. So Camaro Blacktec… how many seasons are you getting? What is the point of failure?
  8. What is anyone’s favorite spring suit? Stokes Superflex? O’neil Hyperfreak 2mm? Camaro Blacktec? Others? I’ve been using a Stokes spring suit the past 4-5 years. Honestly has been great. The long sleeve short leg solution works well for me in MN mid-temps when I’m not in a dry suit. I really like the smooth skin for less evaporative chill. I try to be really careful when putting on, It is just a little fragile, and has either abrasion from vest or tiny splits in stretch areas. (Yes I’ve talked to Stokes for recommendation, and have done weekly Aquaseal repair for the past couple seasons). But it’s about time to replace. And I may jus get Stokes again but wanted to ask. Thx
  9. I’ve tried Shoe Goo on handles. Cleaned first with carb cleaner. It lasts about a week and then peels off. I would try instead trimming off any kind of flap or excess material from slit, and just use it. alternately, wrap with black electrical tape, skip gloves and apply sunscreen to hands before each set. Handle will last forever.
  10. There is handle wear being discussed on another thread. Because I have been very happy with my S-Lines mainline the past two seasons, I ordered a handle when those became available. 13” straight 1.092” After just a week of use, the rubber was starting to feather. (Three skiers, 2 with Kevlar gloves). So I emailed S-lines to ask about the wear. They asked for some photos, and reported they had had a bad batch of rubber. They sent me a new handle about three weeks later. The old one is serviceable, so we have used it through the month and it has continued to feather further. Planning to switch to the new handle tomorrow. I’m not able to report on the new handle yet, but thanks and a shout out to S-Lines for a prompt response and standing behind their gear! 👍
  11. Looks like thumb wheels to adjust depth and length. Can’t see DFT detail but might be something going on there too.
  12. Have not changed overlays on mine since new in 2014. I have only replaced internal heel pieces both frt and rear bindings. Replaced a couple of top laces in that time.
  13. I’ve had insert back out with seized screw a couple times through the years. Epoxy insert back in.
  14. Name the brand. I bet there are 3 dozen ballers who have an extra clamp. I’ve got one from a 2008 D3 that’s yours for a few bucks shipping.
  15. I like how Jay talks about it related to tail length and ski smear. Fin Whispering
  16. My onside smooths out when I remember to add a little knee bend / weight-forward. And keep my head up. (Keeping eyes more level to horizon vs dropping head to inside of turn). instead of a small grab / small wheelie / slack sequence, my tip stays down and I carve a turn back into load with a tight line.
  17. @MDB1056 agree it is a big change. Trying to be humorous, but not always successful.
  18. @MDB1056 it’s only a 1/2” binding move. 😳 well, 15/32” if you use micro just.
  19. @vtmecheng contact Stokes and they will help you get the right size.
  20. Second season on the S-line medium and very happy. Also just received a 13” handle 1.092 diam. haven’t skied it yet, but looks nicely made and included a crossbar.
