  1. Verto - Latin for “turn” Seco - Latin for “carve”
  2. All my ski buddies are 59+ We are legends in our own minds. Actually I’d say all of us are skiing better now than 20 yrs ago. Does that mean we have greater fitness potential now? No, but we are skiing well and having a blast. Cool sport that way.
  3. I would recommend learning your deep water start with only two people in the boat. Skier technique aside, reduction of passenger weight will make a huge difference. Otherwise, a18’ boat with a 115 outboard is borderline adequate power. I’ve done a lot of skiing behind outboard-powered boats.
  4. Good thing he didn’t have his ski in the back of the truck.
  5. Those don’t look like California Air Resource (CARB) compliant cans to me.
  6. Our ice went out just last week. Imagine if your “spring” - at best - started mid to late April (that’s crazy cold drysuit weather for a few weeks followed by merely cold weather until end of May). That gives us a stretch of 4 months here in MN, until it is sort of crazy colder weather for another month and a half before boats get winterized. There is a serious urgency to get something working great ASAP - optimizing scant time on the water. I hear the “try a bunch of skis” sentiment. Cool idea if I skied in big blocks of time in an endless summer. But therein lies the beauty of BOS: helping to find best regarded gear with input on setups, if not stock, that maximize fun and time on the water. I value that.
  7. @DangerBoy looks like the front horseshoe slides to adjust binding size. The piece you’re pointing out is a stop to keep plate from sliding out all the way.
  8. This photo needs its own COVID haircut fail thread.
  9. Cold feet? Small cooler of hot water in boat. Dip before and after run.
  10. I’ve used them for 5 yrs. I bought extra bungee cord and plastic synch sliders from D3 fearing I’d break/lose one, but am still on originals.
  11. @adkh2oskier ? I’m in Minnesota. Likely another 4-5 weeks before ice out.
  12. @lpskier my skinny skis are skinnier than yours.... and definitely don’t carve. ?
  13. The Terry Winter split screen is cool. Other than the difference in pull out for gate, I’d say he looks really similar on both skis. Am I missing something?
  14. Volvo and MerCruiser make I/O “forward drive” lower units for boats marketed to wave sports. I suppose someone is already thinking about outboard application.
  15. I don’t do this a ton, but on iPhone: scroll to bottom of page. Switch to “full site” Search window is visible at top. Do search. Switch back to mobile.
  16. Show ski teams already put three big outboards on their rigs.
  17. Depends on what you’re used to. With new ski, I’d start with same/similar type as previous bindings but, that’s me. Oh, and I like my T-factors.
  18. Ooo, that’s one of those rare adnap yarpsfollab editions! :) Those will be collectors items one day. Wash inside out on gentle cycle only.
  19. @Horton love the video tour down memory lane. I know you avoid comparing skis, but assuming skis didn’t wear out or get tired, is there one of the oldies you’d still be skiing on in preference over skis of the last 3-4 yrs? And in that, perhaps a perspective question on new gear: chasing and finding new and improved, or more of a lure down a rabbit hole that is actually a distraction from working on the skier?
  20. Could use a little ballast to level the boat.
  21. I’ve worn eyeglasses since age 6. I free ski without, and if light is great (sunshine, calm water) can manage the course, but low light or ripples it becomes impossible. @swbca To your question, for me corrective lenses outweigh the spray/water on lens distraction. I tend to wear old polarized prescription sunglasses with a strap across back of head. Lose a pair occasionally.
