  1. As an official of the event, it becomes “Miller time” as soon as the last skier is finished, and the boats are put away. a sound system and a low key announcer is a big plus as well Someone usually has music in their phone
  2. Engine building friend of mine told me long ago, “try to use the lightest weight oil possible, as long as oil pressure at hot idle is adequate. “. So a quality 5w30 with zinc goes well in the GT40. Too heavy of a viscosity is not an engine’s friend.
  3. It’s usually an early morning thing, before the wind comes up, accessed from a boat launch that’s just across the channel. So you need a boat to get there. Your Moomba engine can easily be adapted to fresh water cooling for use in the salt water.
  4. an old photo from the Bako house, quite a collection, truly a first world problem of having too many skis...
  5. I skied a tournament there back in 2012, it was a decent site and a great group. Wish they still had events, I'd definitely go back
  6. put the playback speed at 1.75x and it's way more tolerable
  7. @Horton the word is spelled : different and another +1 for the sequence plate, it also lets you get your feet closer together
  8. the Imperial weekend are the final tournaments I score and ski in, now it's time to rest up and get the snow skis out
  9. @ToddL I also have been spending 5x the time to set up tournaments so I feel her pain
  10. @skier2788 both, you can different pb's at different speeds imo
  11. i sent a video to @AdamCord , his reply was, "i've seen worse..."
  12. i was fortunate to try a Medium last week before a tournament, it was a definite improvement over my last Denali, with a second try I ran my usual opener (22) then btb 28's and btb 32's. the thing ripped nicely. wish they could make them faster
  13. when the website is functioning properly, and tournament organizers are using the OLR system, then entry forms, waivers and bios are all electronic and simple. but some organizers like to control entrants and not pay the fees, so paper forms are still needed. blame the litigious society that we live in. thank goodness pens, paper, and cash/checks payments are still viable so tournament can still be going on while the website/data base is compromised these days
  14. “Commitment to a heavy work load”. I’m out.
  15. Identify those skiers with a high enough score to be level 8, and with an application and a signature sent to HQ they become Asst. Slalom Judges. Otherwise, it only takes 3 events to do a little helping out and supervised tower judging to get an Asst. rating. Everyone who attends a tournament is capable of counting to 6 at a C event.
  16. Could also be used for cleaning up my fluffy corgi after play/beach/poop
  17. @jjackkrash there’s a course in the Lilly pads on Long Lake, near Southworth. It’s on my bucket list but not sure who’s skiing there now
  18. we do a H2H every season at the Broho in our June event, and it's a very small lake, it just takes drivers that are precise, we also had no problems running the Big Dawg H2H's either in 2014 and 2015, you just need to be careful and have situational awareness
  19. I've scored 2 events from August, both have been compiled and sent up the chain of command, they'll get posted as soon as the system is ready to accept. next weekend I'll do another double -header, luckily I have the files from other local events, and last years events to draw registration info from, it takes a little more time, but it's still part of the fun....
  20. and why the people in charge have not stepped up and told our rank and file members the plan for replacement is unsatisfactory
  21. I've heard that a virus corrupted the databases, without having a suitable backed-up version to replace the damage my guess is that when they have a platform that's safe to upload scorebooks in to, we'll all begin a new 12 month average
  22. my only concern on the shared boat thing was the use of personal gas cans to refill the boat. I'm picky about "can cleanliness" and quality of fuel used. but the PCM design of a large, easy to replace fuel seperator/filter was changed annually and we never had any problems.
  23. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1icWChCchsooiCzid129ByGeMdGadAFpo9FdAThej67E/edit#gid=215429832
  24. unless there was a crack in the ski, the fuel should not get into the ski core. a little stain adds character, kind of like a tatoo. tell the knucklehead who spilled to turn on their brain, it could have been a lot worse
