I'm with dawg, either don't run the wing or at least run 7-8 degrees. The planing angle of the ski partly dictates the wing angle. The only skis that really run wings less than 8 degrees are the D3 products. Some of their skis call for 7 degrees stock and I've run as low as 6. But on that A1 I wouldn't run less than 8 if you run one.

Rod, the wing at 5 degrees may have hurt you more than help you. Stock, HO calls for 9 deg. Because of the plane angles of the ski and wing, at 5 deg it might be providing lift. What are all the fin measurements and where are the bindings? HO has these #s for stock: 29.5" to rear of front binding 6.84" length 2.508" depth .770" DFT wing 9

And now I don't know what to think. We skied behind Marcus Brown's 08 40th MC197 yesterday. With the old sw with only A, B, C. It felt good at both B and C. WTF??? Thank goodness I'm just a hack! lol

Yes, mine is mechanical. I'm seriously considering sending it back and putting my 6.5ng master module back in. It's stupid that a boat that anyone could drive, now is not that way. You have to baby the throttle completely or else it will take off. Every time I drive it, it pisses me off.

Scott, I know what you mean. The Warps I've seen all look like they kept the tip WAY down with really tight turns and no stalling. It'll be interesting to hear how the Elite compares.

Although the pull is nice, and I like the addition of the feather weight and Xtra heavy weight, the new version is damn finicky. If you overshoot the set point for your speed on pull up and don't pull the throttle back quickly enough, you're pretty much guaranteed that the things going to run away through the gates. PP has sent me a 2nd box and it's just as bad.

I gotta disagree. I feel the differences in PP and ZO even at 22 and 28.

I agree. I got a .940 diameter RS1 handle a month or so ago and it's been great. And cheaper than the masterline customs that we've been using. Best thing is I don't have to order them as M2 keeps a stock of them and they're on the way to our lake.

Steve Binkley skied in our tournament last weekend. I've never seen a guy take a hit like he can. He ran the latest, ugliest, most incredible 38 I've ever seen behind the Nautique on C2 I think. So it can be done. You guys would have laughed when you saw it. In fact, the boat judge was laughing when he called in the score. He got pulled forward out of two, skied straight to 3, started his edge change on top of 3, was over halfway downcourse to the plane of 4 before he hooked up, skied straight to 4, started his edge change on top of 4, took a hit that would have bent me in two, took a hit at 5 that was crazy bad, skied straight at 6, turned 6 and seriously was 50ft downcourse from 6 when he hooked up and took this insane hit, and recovered and made it out the gates. And he's gotta be 50 years old. If he can scrap a pass like that, there's no reason those of us 15 years younger can't. It wasn't just that one pass. He scrapped through every 38 like that in all three rounds.

Alex, It seems to depend on your level as a skier. For me, B2 behind the nautique felt the most like PP. From what I saw, the 15-32 off skiers liked B and the 32-39 off skiers liked C. And within those two letters, everyone liked the MC at 1, the CC at 2, and the Bu at 3.

The malibu and nautique were for sure. I'll check on the MC. I think it was.

Yesterday was my first tournament of the year and the first time to ski behind the latest version of zero off. I decided to try all at B2 just to see how they compared to Stargazer. Here is what I thought.  Malibu- B2 was sooooooooft. This boat, which was not my favorite last year was my favorite of the day. My next time behind this boat I'm going to try B3. Mastercraft- B2 felt like a runaway freight train- holy cow this boat was strong! I decided to tough it out and see if I could adjust to B2 and that was a mistake. I should have dropped to B1. If there was a B0, I think it would have still felt like it was yanking the handle out of my hand. CC 196- B2 was ok. Out of the 38 off guys I talked to, they had the same comparison, although most used C behind all the boats. Most who used C2 behind the malibu thought they needed to go to C3 and most who tried C2 behind the MC thought it felt like it was pulling them up and they should have gone C1. And the consensus seemed to be C2 behind the Nautique. Overall, I liked the changes ZO made to their system over the fall/winter. All the boats came through the gates at 34.7 this time and there were no missed gates like last year.ÂÂ

AB, at least on the 67 I used 6.855, 2.496, and .785. The tip stayed way down on both sides. At those settings I love it. Now, another friend tried one and hated it. Different strokes.

I completely agree. Goode snowed everyone into thinking fast, twitchy, and dead stall at the end of the turn was the way to go for years. Now these guys are putting their heads together and doing it right. And I agree onthe Senate C. It's the best ski I've ever been on for half the price.

Yeah, the MC Sportstar was an awesome little boat. The last of the affordable, real ski boats. I went back and looked through my files. I bought my first completely loaded Nautique in 1996, brand new for $23,500 with trailer, bimini, stereo, etc. Holy cow, that same boat is $45k now. In 09 Dollars, that 23,500 equals to $36 ish. Ok, I could deal with that for a loaded out 196. But $45?!?! And MC is even worse! $52k for a PS197?!?!

I think there are definitely skis that fit certain styles better. Each has their own idiosynchrosies. Now, a skier might be able to compensate for just about any ski, but who wants to be just riding one and not skiing it. Hell, JTH is such a bad man that he could probably run his average on a 2x6 with tennis shoes nailed to it! ;)

The wakeboarders figured it out a long time ago. They have a party on the shore. Vendors. Boat dealers. Music. Announcers. They advertise on the local radio. The only time you see an announcer at a 3 event tournament is regionals, nationals, or the big dawg for the most part. People don't wanna show up and have no clue what the hell's going on.
