  1. Hurricane Hanna! Haven't heard that name in a while. Got a wild hair and took off on my son's dirt bike to hit a few trails last weekend. Forgot how much fun that is! Unfortunately when I started shopping bikes online they are slightly more expensive than the early 80's....
  2. Ladies and Gentlemen Reviving an old thread here. I just reached 5 years from finishing chemo. Had my yearly scans last week and remain cancer free. I am so thankful... Some things mentioned during my visit directly relate to those of you who donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. As you may know Non Hodgkins is always there, just monitored and managed. When talking about the future my oncologist said there have been many advances in effective treatment over the past few years. In fact should my cancer return he wasn't sure which option he might choose, but that my long term outlook is excellent! Many times we may donate to a cause and not really see the outcome. Cancer research and treatment is advancing at a tremendous pace, not fast enough in all areas as we know of those on BOS lost to it just since my diagnosis. I do want all who gave to LLS to know that they truly are making differences in lives. Thank you...
  3. I have known Mongo since starting out skiing the North Texas area in the late 1980's. He and the rest of the Dallas crew were some skiers to look up to and characters for sure! Over the years there have been certain people you see at tournaments and simply look forward to catching up with. I always enjoyed, as I'm sure many of those on BOS did, sitting on a tower with Steve on a beautiful lake somewhere passing the time. Such a great guy and such a loss to those that knew him and the sport. Our family will be praying for Melinda and Scott.
  4. Okay. I'm a PT who has not seen you in person. Take this with for what it's worth. Your healing time will depend on several things. Numbers one and two being how large the tear is and how long it's been there. Your doc should have a reasonable feel for this from your MRI and physical exam. You are not going to heal nearly as well at 67 as at 27. Not that it won't, but you will need to be patient. Being super active helps. Hopefully your overall health is good, don't smoke, etc. As for the stem cells, I do not seen them used in RC repair in my practice setting. I'm sure they are in certain situations, but in my opinion they might make a low single digit difference in your healing. If you don't mind the cost it's not going to hurt. You will be better after the repair in the long run. It's also better to fix it sooner than to wait until it's really gone and it might not be able to have it fixed at all. Good luck
  5. I believe it was the 1989 Coors Light Oklahoma City tour stop at Thompson Lake. Saw KLP do a towel change. Seemed a great idea and have had no issues looking for a place to change since.
  6. How does something that is in it's essence a simple a hobby/sport for 99.9% of participants become this overregulated? We must have invited this in a some point. Can it be rolled back?
  7. In my new sport there is quite a bit of drama at the moment. Seems in the past when proposed rule changes came up there was a 90 comment period where the change was posted and membership was able to contact their area director with their "yes-no-or lets tweak this" input. Over the past few years it has moved to the board/president making decisions and moving on. A lot of the membership isn't happy and there is change afoot. Just saying that over the past few years there has been a lot of change in AWSA (USA Water Ski-whatever) and I'm not sure how much input was asked for. SS is an extreme example, but what about age and speed changes, having five kids divisions, boat requirements/costs, etc. I agree with Drago in that people like to feel as if they have some control. Overall there are many who aren't sure and/or don't like where the organization is going.
  8. I responded to the survey. Received a response telling me how wrong I was. Thanks for that
  9. There are a lot of us who have a had a belly full of things mandated to us. There is a point where any normal person says "no, I've had enough thanks". People are reaching that in society (I hope)
  10. "Anyone have to go get their own switch...?" Yes. My grandmother on my mom's side. ONE time only.
  11. Man. Hard to stay focused on this. I would have thought video would be the thing missed most. The dead silence on the announcing is really the killer.
  12. I have multiple reasons to be against this... 1. We have (had) rules for a sport. If you want to participate please join us. Follow the rules. Have fun. (I realize that at this point this line of thought is water under the bridge) 2. How many warm up runs to trickers get before launching into a 10k point run or do jumpers get before smacking a 5-6' ramp. I'm not saying you should start at your hardest pass, but there is a reason that slalom skiers have the rep of being whiners. 3. Possibly slalom skiers should do a physical warm up like athletes before going out to ski? As a PT I'm amazed to watch a majority of skiers wander from lawn chair or judges tower straight to skiing with no warm up or stretching. This is a sport yes?? 4. My wife looked over my shoulder and asked what I was typing. I explained the proposal to her and the comment was "Why, that's dumb". She is normally smarter than me.
  13. Again, I've typed several things and deleted them. I'm definitely getting better at this!
  14. We teach all newbies on jumpers. Adults on 72". Kids on 60". Decent but not super tight Wiley's on both.
  15. I keep typing things... then deleting them. Maturing I guess.
  16. I believe Regionals should stay. Mainly as it and Nationals are the only ones that most of have a chance to compete in this as a "sport". There are tournaments all summer that allow you to participate in the "activity" of tournament waterskiing. There is not a thing wrong with that. Especially early on in the addiction as you need to chase ratings and PB's. Great to see friends and hang out as well. After a few years (or decades....) PBs are hard to come by. The adrenaline rush of being in the stack on the dock when there are placements on the line is special. I'd hate to loose one the few opportunities for that.
  17. It's the commentators that make or break it for me. The Lake 38 event were spot on. I'm watching to see an competitive event, but also to learn. Having knowledgeable people break down each skier from those camera angles was solid viewing.
  18. My first Nats was '91 at Belle Aqua. My skiing wasn't great, but staying to watch the US Open after was amazing. It's about time this happened.
  19. As a PT I generally suggest either "Superfeet" or "Sole" inserts. They are over the counter and found at most better running shoe stores. Put them in your boot stuck to the bottom with two sided tape. (Or folded duct tape if you're me...) The Radar liners are actually pretty good as well.
  20. Some of the best coverage ever. Amazing stuff.
  21. Looking for that as well. Was busy yesterday and attempted to avoid any results so I could watch last night. Couldn’t find an archive.
