  1. 2004 Chevy Tahoe with 290k, just did 1700 miles of towing with it the other weekend. Original motor and transmission.
  2. I recently bought a 1995 Prostar 190 (and by recently I mean I haven't even put eyes on it, I'm picking it up this weekend). This is my first boat purchase and I want to make sure I'm going to keep the boat in great shape. Any tips or tricks that all of you guys use to keep everything looking and functioning at a high level?
  3. @OB has hit the nail on the head here. We need to keep it simple, affordable, accessible, and fun.
  4. Very tempting, but that price + shipping from NJ would put me over my budget.
  5. What kind of workouts do most of you do during the season to try to keep up all the of strength gains you made in the offseason? Or do you cut it all out completely?
  6. I traveled to Boise a couple of times last summer for work. The people at both Gilbert and Broadside were more than happy to give me a pull. Even got to watch @twhisper from the boat while I was there. Can't say enough good things about Boise!
  7. Why not just keep the nationals qualification requirements the same and eliminate the regionals qualifier (Maybe eliminate regionals all together?). There are a lot of people in my age bracket M2 who can't quite squeeze two big waterski tournament trips into the budget. You might get some better participation out of the M1, W1, M2, W2 age groups.
  8. @behindpropellers‌ I agree 100% that public lake slalom courses are becoming more and more of a challenge. Between them being banned on some lakes and destroyed by fisherman and tubers on others they feel like an endangered species. Is the solution trying to build more private lakes so more people have access? I know here in Utah there are an abundance of people looking for high quality private water to ski on.
  9. Here is an interesting article I found about what one pro mountain biker is doing to help grow the sport: http://www.bicycling.com/news/pro-cycling/pro-downhiller-amanda-batty-wants-pay-you-race If you don't want to read the article, the summary is: a professional mountain biker is offering to pay entry fees for first time racers. My question to everyone, is would this be a good use of funds for waterskiing? Or are there better ways we could come together to grow our sport? How would you spend $20,000 to grow waterskiing?
  10. @brady where in Utah are you thinking for the lake?
  11. @MattP‌ think about it this way, not that many people have run under a 4 minute mile, not many people have run 41. A few more have run under a 5 minute mile, quite a few more have run 39. I feel like most people who have never seen a slalom course or a ski lake can understand that concept.
  12. I've always had good luck comparing skiing line lengths to mile times so my non skiing friends understand how good someone is and how rare running 41 off is. For example 28 off = 9 minute mile 32 off = 8 minute mile 35 off = 7 minute mile 38 off = 6 minute mile 39 off = 5 minute mile 41 off = 4 minute mile
  13. @wtrskior‌ Oops. Didn't mean to do that.
  14. Here is another tracking system that looks like it could be very useful for us as skiers, its currently being used by several NFL and major college football teams. They claim to be the only true 10 Hz GPS.
  15. @eyepeeler‌ I'm pretty sure that 90% of the skiers in the top 100 can out lift Nate in the weight room, but who's on the podium every weekend? Strength is a component of skiing, but certainly not the only one.
  16. Almost makes me want to move back from Utah....
  17. @mattp thanks for the extra motivation for winter training. I'm not letting you run 35 in a tournament before I do! Unless of course you do it Tuesday.
  18. You sure you don't want to wait till April? Man I'd love to buy this.
  19. Obrien Synchro, there's a reason April Coble stockpiles them at her ski school for people to learn to run the course on.
  20. I think raising the entry fee for NCWSA $5 wouldn't impact the skiers much ($20 a semester if you assume 4 tournaments) but could really help the host teams cover expenses and maybe pay for an extra couple of judges hotel rooms at a hotel where all of the late night shenanigans are not happening. Not that I would know anything about such late night shenanigans!
  21. I remember going up to ski at Ray's when I was in college and Ally and Andi were just barely running the course. Crazy the progress they've made!
  22. @gator1‌ and @jwroblew‌ , I'm pretty confident I would have been fine in a reflex with the white cuff.
  23. @andre I was on a Reflex and RTP. Weird crushing fall at the buoy, the shell allowed my ankle to flex all the way forward before it releasted. Medial malleolus fracture, which then happened again due to poor healing the following summer so I had to get it surgically repaired.
