  1. Best ski ever. The more I ride it, the more I learn. Finding things in my skiing that I haven’t been able to do in more than 10 years. This is the easily the most excited I’ve been about skiing in a while. I wasn’t sure I could create space in my skiing anymore but now I have to retrain myself how to handle space.
  2. Looks like a Rocket on a pre-programmed path.
  3. Was in a tower with Jennifer last weekend and she gave us an interesting bit of trivia. Kris Lapoint has never missed a gate in a tournament.....over 50 years of tournament skiing. I know it’s kind of off topic but had to share that.
  4. @Andre, supershell 2, flattened/ground bottom, cut down the top, locked forward, buckles moved, shell softened (material removed), Radar liner heated in oven and molded to my foot. The best fitting/tightest boot ever. Don't have my ski with me, so can't take a picture but will try to remember. Somewhere on here there is a long discussion about the reflex boot and what Adam recommends.
  5. I went from Fogmans to a reflex front, R-style rear over the winter/spring and started at 30mph. It took me about a month (10 sets) to get back to 34.2. One of my hardest crashes ever (release behind the boat) led to the decision. Adam Caldwell modified both of my boots before I ever tried them. I went a few months before I ever tested the release which has worked flawlessly so far. I'm very happy with this decision and wished I would have made it sooner. It would have saved me about 10 (or more) unnecessary painful releases over the last 2 years.
  6. There’s a rumor(actually it’s not a rumor) that @adamhcaldwell ran 5 41s in a row a week or so ago on this unicorn ?

    Yard Sale

    Was expecting a big crash
  8. @riplash are those freshwater crab traps or saltwater crab traps? Just curious
  9. You also have decimal feet used by civil engineers and surveyors here. The South Carolina Dept. of transportation briefly decided to go metric with their road construction plans....those were fun times.
  10. Dang! Once I started riding one, the Skunk Works team assured me it wouldn't get out to the public. Now everyone's going to want one and I'll loose a ski partner because he'll have to spend time building skis.
  11. Is that a Koala wrapped around the shaft?
  12. If you're doing a 3 point survey, all you really need is something that turns angles accurately. This assumes you can measure accurately on the ground between the 3 points (sounds easier than it really is). I would look for something with 10 second or better accuracy on angles and electronic distance measuring. What's your budget and how often will you use it? This stuff is pretty easy to rent.
  13. This is working for me currently. Don't have any scores though.
  14. I still miss my friend who lived in Korea, what were his 2 names?
  15. I'll just say it's thin and very warm, the hot top is even better. Can't imagine a better suit for skiing.
  16. I didn't touch on the things that didn't help on here but over the course of the last 6 or more years, planks (without the balance exercises) aggravated my situation. From the majority of my reading, weak glutes cause a bunch of issues with the back. I found a video on youtube from Athlean-X about lower back spasms that got me kick started and started giving me some relief. From there, once I learned a little more, I found a handful of exercises that work on the glutes and have had more recovery than I thought I was ever going to see again. Last August through October, I thought I might be done skiing forever, by the end of November, I was back skiing once a week and have picked it up to 3 times a week now. I get a little stiff here and there but for the most part, very few spasms (and the ones I do have, i can work out the glute stuff and it tends to fix them fairly quickly). I didn't want to discourage the planks because I think they will benefit a lot of people (me included), but if you have a desk job, the glute work will help you. For the record, my back spasms were not just lower back, they seemed to migrate to various muscles throughout the back. However, it was when the lower back got really bad that I had to shut down skiing completely. @ScottScott had a much better description of the deep water start that I employ.
  17. I’ve suffered back spasms for the last 6 years or so and have been through a variety of steps to correct it. If you can figure out the things that trigger it, I think you will be on the way to correcting things. Three things that I think helped me the most were glute exercises ( too much desk sitting), switch mattress ( 3 times, firm), finding the least resistance on my deep water starts ( basically Bend my knees so that my butt touches the rear of my back foot). Also don’t underestimate the shorts you are wearing, if they catch water, it will put a tremendous strain on the back. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to message me. I tried a bunch of different things such as massage therapy, Rolfing, acupuncture, chiropractor, etc, etc. Funny that you mentioned the R-style boot because I went to an Adam Caldwell built R-Style a few weeks ago (Also changed front boot). It is causing me to work through some stance comfort/control stuff but has not caused me any additional back trouble. As I said message me and I’ll answer anything I’ve been through. It sucks but it can probably be corrected, you just have to figure out the root or roots.
  18. @Than_Bogan, well he does run it pretty much every set right now.
  19. The 41s you see on here are just the ones he’s running when there’s somebody in the boat to video. There’s more being run than what you see and it’s been happening all winter and in all conditions. (Well at least since this ski came out from behind the curtain). I was surprised to see that one look that scrappy when I watched because it felt really smooth. I normally don’t even look in the mirror when driving past -28 but now sometimes watch him at -39 through the mirror because I know he won’t miss it.
  20. Just my often flawed interpretation, and observations but the GUT articles give a decent outline of the approach. My personal approach is to try to remove inefficient movements (of which there are quite bit of in my skiing) and to try to ski the correct path with the most efficient alignment. I try to base my alignment on a lot of what I see in his skiing. An observation that I had a year or 2 ago was that Jeff Rodgers was one of the most aligned skiers I had ever witnessed and I think Adam is more aligned than Jeff.
  21. Realizing that I was sort of off-topic, I tried to give myself and "off topic" but the forum won't let me react to my own post. So I will add, I'm trying to do what Adam tells me to do and trying to interpret what I see in his skiing correctly even though he skis with the wrong foot forward:)
  22. @Zman, the videos don't do him justice. It's even more impressive in person. Having a front row seat to his evolution as a skier, ski designer and ski philosopher has been eye opening for me. He showed up with a different mindset than anyone I've ever skied with. There's a lot of super secret stuff behind the curtain that I can't tell you about, but if you book time with him, it's worth the price of admission. The C-75 Rocks!
  23. Camaro Black Tec Full suit. Don't think I'll ever buy another drysuit. I have a an Oneil Hybrid that hasn't seen sunlight in 3 years. My Camaro keeps me as warm as my hands and head can handle.
