  1. @Vernon Reeve Looks like you can order directly from the Fluid Motion site HERE I have both, and lately have preferred the MOB version, as I think it has better deflection if hit. Mike worked with me to make sure that I had one that fit by handle well.
  2. I fell through the ice on our river a couple of years ago while ice skating (pushing 60 at the time). The water under the ice was only 4-5 feet deep, so I contacted the bottom and didn't go completely under. I will say that wearing hockey skates and full insulated coveralls, I don't think I could've simply kicked myself back up over the edge of the hole. My son with a hockey stick helped pull me out. Friggin' cold.
  3. Finally, a thread on BOS that I feel qualified to comment on. One of my favorites, because it didn't hurt (much).
  4. Got a set yesterday, 11/17. Water is down into the upper 40's. Looks like only a couple more weeks and we'll have to call it a season. It's been a good one!
  5. @S1Pitts I did similar - a bit more depth too. Also, moved some forward (.758) to compensate for the increased fin area, and love both turns that way.
  6. I've had a similar experience. Tried lots of skis this year (5 different rides), and decided the R2 had the best overall feel for me. Coming off the 2017 nrg, I will say that I was not as immediately comfortable on it as I was with the original model. (could be that I spent weeks and weeks trying new skis and playing to my inner-tweaker, right?) Anyway, I've always thought that at some point late in the season I'm just happy to be behind the boat running passes, and am no longer expecting to go very far up the line. But the R2 has continued to get better for me as the water gets colder. Still running passes in 50° water and a wetsuit that I'm not guaranteed on the best of days mid-summer. Really looking forward to starting the 2022 season on this thing!
  7. Something like THIS would likely work, but it ain't cheap.
  8. Weren't the McClintocks both using a WF at some point? Elizabeth M is using one, I believe. From my own perspective, it felt great at 28 and 32, but fell apart for me at 35. I can go deeper without it.
  9. @lpskier Found one here
  10. Are you looping the rope through itself to keep it tight on the pylon? If so, the friction of the rope against its own loop will make it wear faster. Plus, you're robbing yourself of an extra inch of line. :)
  11. @MrBlack Yep, that was me. Thanks again for the pull! Same goes for you if you're ever in MD or eastern NC. Let me know and I'll get you a set.
  12. I know that course! Was fortunate enough to be able to ski in it a few weeks ago. That end is very challenging to get a good gate due to the approach the boat has to take. I think on the way out your goal should just be to get up as high on the boat as possible, while maintaining speed and a tight line on the turn in. Nice skiing!
  13. @Jayski, how did you land on those numbers? Tried them today and felt great!
  14. Long shot, but check your alternator output during the power loss. I struggled with a similar issue for a couple of years. The slight hiccup under power eventually turned into a stalling situation, after which the boat would fire right back up. Turned out to be a voltage spike from my alternator that was freaking out the ECM and shutting down the fuel pump. Replaced alternator, and all has been fine since.
  15. I have it on good authority that the one on ski-it-again has zero lead time. :)
  16. For me, it's how she drops the handle down at release, the leaves it there and skis out and around, then back to that handle position. Good stuff.
  17. Mine was back leg also. Potential silver lining: I've had a couple back leg injuries that I believe actually helped me pick up a ball or 2 in the long run. This was one of them. While getting back into the course, I was acutely aware to not overload my back leg. Ultimately, I think this really helped me concentrate on balance over my front foot throughout the pass. Lemons/lemonade. Hope you heal up quickly and completely!
  18. Not exactly the same as you, but I did have a partial patellar tendon tear a few years ago. Went to a good sports ortho, and was told that I could eventually ski on it again, and if it ruptures completely they'll fix it. Took a looong time to feel 100% (year and a halfish), and a imagine a full tear may take a bit longer. One thing I found helped was to do eccentric loaded exercises when cleared to do so. (btw, first doc I went to told me that I'd never ski again)
  19. I've handed out a few, also. A couple of them got used, and two came back. "Don't need it". I found it interesting, too. Nice of you to offer them on here
  20. Medium for 180lbs at 36mph? I'm 170 at 34mph, and am currently on a small. Considering trying a medium.
  21. Same ski, and I usually go up the line a loop or two if free skiing. I don't worry so much about width, but just try to get up high on the boat while keeping a tight line.
  22. @BlueSki Do you mind sharing your long/shallow settings? Always looking to try different options.
  23. C85. Now if I can just get the wind and drivers to sync up so I can get in some sets!
