  1. One of the courses we ski on is E/W, also. Depending on the time of year, the timing for blindness varies pretty widely. While the skier can adjust somewhat like @thager says, it can also be brutal for the driver. Thinking of putting some welding goggles in the boat.
  2. I've thought about both of the speed issues (max behind the boat and max vs min). One of my consistent keys this past season is to think about achieving the most speed into the wakes efficiently and as quickly as possible. The average speed, though - shouldn't that be nearly identical for each skier at the same boat speed? Don't all skiers cover roughly the same distance in the same 16.95 seconds gate to gate @ 34?
  3. Google "biogel blue indicator underglove". These are by far the best gloves we've found for under our regular gloves. Super tough, and can be dried out and used a dozen or more times.
  4. Yesterday, 12/6, Air 42, water 46. We're done. :)
  5. Ya got me with the picture. Thanks for the discount!
  6. I know that the PS 205 is not in everyone's wish list, but keep in mind that the 98 205 did not get the hull "upgrade" that the 190 did in that year.
  7. These are from a GoPro during a late evening set at our lake in NC. I was supposed to be driving, but couldn't resist taking these shots between passes. lol
  8. My neighbor (who doesn't ski) said to me "You'll know when it's time to stop". I told him: "Yep, because I'll be in a box". That's my current plan, anyway.

  10. In most areas in the US, you actually are legally responsible for damages caused by your boat wake. Not sure what counts as negligence if the boat is designed to throw a 4ft wave, though.
  11. Coincidentally, I just replaced the alternator on my 98 MC 350 this year. I fought with a sporadic stalling issue for two years. Found that voltage spikes from the alternator were shutting down the fuel pump. If yours is questionable, and you have the Leece Neville 51 amp, let me know. I found a reasonably priced replacement.
  12. Looks like mediums in stock Here?
  13. Interesting observation on the two NRG's. Would've also been insightful to have them both flex tested side-by-side when new. I'm not sure that current production methods allow for the "exact" same ski to be created every time. Correct me if I'm wrong. I've always said that if I demo a ski that gets me another pass first time on it, I'm taking that magic ski, not another one like it.
  14. @MattP, That's a great thread. Interesting stuff, indeed.
  15. Since fin surface area is, at best, an arbitrary number, I think it would hard to apply the differences to the non-conventional fin shapes. Length x Depth gives us a pretty standard way to determine how much fin you like in the water, but it's not actual area. Assuming that someone who likes a lot of fin overall may need even more if it's a "pointy shape" is fair, but I can't imagine a way to accurately figure out how much. (tldr - I don't math enough to figure it out)
  16. I'll add that the last few skis that I bought seem to be incrementally easier to set up. My latest skied great at factory settings out of the box, and any adjustments I make have predictable results. Compare that to my all time favorite throwing ski (kd7000), and either skis are getting better, or we all are.
  17. Glad you're going to be ok. It blows my mind that I know some that still refuse to use one.
  18. Those turns! Making it look easy.
  19. The 1st gen NRG is the only ski I have ever owned that seemed to work for me at stock settings. All my other skis ended up waaay deep and short. The only thing I've done so far on the NRG is to lessen the dft by .002 and increase wing angle to 8. (34 mph)
  20. I think I'm looking at exactly the kind of "controlled skid without falling off the back of the ski" that Marcus referred to in the 38 off thread. That's one hell of a balanced slide through the turn.
  21. Center line to buoy = 37.7ft (4.25" on my monitor) Rope = 4.5" or 4.25 x 1.06 37.7 x 1.06 = 39.9ft 75 - 39.9 = 35 off Unless there's enough bow in the rope to account for an extra 3 ft, to make it 32 off, but I don't think so. I'm not just bored, I'm quarantine bored.
  22. Stolen from Ski Nautique Nantais. Too good not to share.
