  1. I got a chance to demo a vapor yesterday when my buddy was test drivin a boat. I only got a chance to free ski on it. I am on an a2 right now but will definitely be looking to upgrade in the spring. It was fast smooth and predictable. Really liked it. I didn't feel like I had to learn it, just felt natural
  2. Hockey, treadmill, gym....and less beer :(
  3. time on the water, good coaching, and when possible video
  4. thanks for the input guys, I have emailed him twice and have not received a response back, so I am assuming he sold it and hasn't taken it off yet. But if he does respond I will definitely be asking the questions you guys are suggesting.
  5. tx guys, the boat if purchased will go straight to fresh water, never thought about the trailer, that's why I asked the question!!!
  6. in searching for a boat for my buddy, I have located a boat in florida, its a mc 197, says it has a closed loop cooling system, which if reading between the lines to me says its a salt water boat. any opinions on this???
  7. I did the heat gun with wd40, worked well for me, and agree not to over heat the sticker or it just breaks
  8. KcSwerver, not knocking it, just didn't like it. Not trying to pick on it, like I said, just my opinion.
  9. tx @MS, I'll forward the link to them By the way guys I realize your just trying to help suggest some other options and it is appreciated, everybody on this site is awesome when it comes to helping!!!
  10. All this is only MY opinion based on MY personal experience. I don't claim to know more about boats than anybody else here. All I am doing with this thread is trying to help my friends find a boat suited to their needs and maybe help someone here sell a boat, so please here is the last of my comments, after this I would just like to hear if you are aware of some boats for sale in the north central US or prairies in Canada. @KcSwerver, from what I have been told in the past, the 95-96 MC is the original hull that they used to base the early x-stars on. I have skied it and hated the wake, (again personal opinion). It would make a good cross over boat, but has a significantly bigger wake than that of the SN or Malibu. All the ones that are used at the lake I go to have had towers put on them and are used for wakeboarding and surfing. This is why there isn't a big market for them from hard core slalom skiers. I have no issue with the 97 Nautiques. I have skied behind 2 different ones and found the wakes to be very nice. My frineds want an open bow, the 97-99 snob was a much different hull, and there aren't many of them anyway. The SN handle great in straight lines and are great in a course for driving. The response handles like a sports car in open water but hey don't track as well in the course. My friends as I have said will be strictly open water skiing and pulling tubes so the better turning malibus are better suited to their needs. With that being said, I am showing them all the options that fit into their budget, the final choice is theirs. I already have a boat. Again no disrespect is intended to anyone.
  11. @Than, they all have families so they need the space of an open bow. @bigtallweed, I have never skied the tsc hull at 15 or 22 off, only 28 and up, so I cannot comment on it, I do know that my buddy has a 97 response (pre-diamond hull) and it is not nearly as nice at 15 and 22 off as the post diamond hulls @MS, I know in the RLX there isn't a ton of room up there, but it is something, and its what they asked me to help them find
  12. One of my friends talked to Matt Rini at nationals, he said the 2011-2013 stradas are the same ski
  13. I have a 2001 Response lx, they have skied it, driven it, and love it. They will be skiing at slower speeds at 15 off, strictly free skiing. They all love the way my boat handles and the wake behind it. They are open to the 97 Nautiques open bow (hard to find) or a 2001 and newer MC but the prices tend to be higher. I have skied behind a 96 MC and did not like the wake at all, not in the same league as far as I'm concerned. oldjeep, I bought my boat from Minnesota Inboard, was an awesome experience and highly recommend them. for some reason that link and the one on their website hasn't been working on my computer lately, but I will keep trying. I'm not looking for suggestions on boat types, just tips on any for sale that you guys would know about, not trying to be disrespectful to anyone bannaron, If you can send me the info on your boat that would be great
  14. tx for the help guys, im passing on the info as I get it, I know they wont be interested in the mid 90's MC since the wake wasn't the greatest.
  15. I am currently trying to help a couple buddies who are looking for a used boat. We are located in central Canada, (Winnipeg) just above North Dakota. They both are seeking an open bow, no more than $18000. I figure they are gonna be looking at 1999-2002 Response lx. These are not hard core slalom guys, just looking to move up from outboards so we don't need suggestions of the 97-99 Nautiques. They will not consider anything that is not an open bow. I have been looking at craigslist, ski-it-again, and onlyinboards. They do not want to travel over 12 hours. Any tips on some boats is appreciated. TX in advance
  16. skijay, I was out there for the first time this year and got to ski predator, what a beautiful site you guys have, still toasty in Manitoba, but that will change at the drop of a hat, enjoy the fall skiing
  17. I posted this elsewhere, but I talked to a friend who skied it today in the pro shoot out, she is not sponsored but trains behind a 200. her opinion is that it is way better than the 197 and skis like the 200.
  18. was at the pro shoot out today, water conditions were great, amazing site, skiers looked good, apparently they ran out of gas this morning on rossi's set....whoops, never been to a pro tour stop before, but very impressed with the skiing.
  19. i was at the pro shoot out today and saw the boat. It is very nice looking, the spray looked non existent from shore and the wake looked pretty small too. I talked to someone I knew that competed and she felt it skied very much like a 200. She really hated the 197 but feels that this boat is as good as promised. I still cant afford it
  20. shortline starts when you shorten the rope, 22 off. I have a practice PB of 2 @ 38, and tournament of 1 @35, but I would never want to take anything away from someone who accomplishes running 15 off at their max speed. I remember my first time I ran into 22 off and I was more excited than when I ran 35 for the first time.
  21. when i replaced mine, they traced it to a 74 ford econoline van
