  1. @LeonL If you comp promo people that's is great I have not been to one of you events. I did not know that you did that. You are diffently a rare case here in the south. My statements were a generalization not to point out one group or person.
  2. Great idea. Every region is different. For example the west will comp the promo boat owners. The south will not unless unusual surcumstances. Many people believe that since we are compensated by the factories that is good enough.
  3. @jdarwin I do agree that the fall is difficult to get boats. My post was for exceptions in a general term when boat are available. Early to mid season. If the promo person won't bring his boat then that should be brought up to the team coordinator. You are right it's the chicken and the egg. I've been boing this for over 30 years and I'll just say some things never change.
  4. Kalvin I said pretty much the same thing in an earlier post. I agree 110%. If tournament directors or clubs get rule exceptions you will not have a promo teams. One of two thing have to happen, Skiers need to start supporting the sales of promo boats or the MFG's have to revamp the programs and assist the teams. Times have changed. There is no waiting list for ANY PROMO TEAMS anymore. When there is damage to the boat and the tournament won't pay or they get trashed and scratched and nobody takes responsibility that affects the resale of that boat and guess what when you need a promo boat and your site is known or has a reputation for not caring for promo boats you won't get a boat because the owner can't take a chance of any damage not being covered. All the above affects the sale of promo boats.
  5. The direct injected motors are more responsive then the 5.7 or 6.0L motors. The ZO may feel stronger due to that fact. Many people have been dropping a letter to tone it down.
  6. i am a firefighter/EMT and I couldn't agree more with ESPNSKIER. Take a first aid class and get trained properly. Otherwise you may do more harm then good.
  7. If you due away with the 2 or 3 year rule and allow that any boat can pull a tournament you may just abolish all promo teams. There would be nobody willing to invest in a promo boat and the factories would have no intensive to stay in 3 event skiing. Nobody with half a brain is going to hold on to a promo boat for 3 years and then take a huge loss. another question is Who is going to be willing to use there private or club boat that is 3 plus year old boat and put 8-15 hrs on it in a given weekend? How would the regional's or nationals be held if promo boats are scarce or non existent? As it is nobody wants to hold the nationals as it is. But that is a difference thread. It may throw the ski world into chaos. USA waterski and the skiing world should not have to pay the price because the MFG's wont back the local events with there promo boats or assist in the sales of there boats. If they are worried about sales and so forth maybe they should force the dealer to take the boat back. The MFG's have no problem taking back there team skier boats. Adding the promos into the mix would only add 1 -2 boats per dealer. All sales leads would be referred to the local dealer and they can sell the boat for what the dealer feels it is worth. The promo teams were meant to work with dealers to bring to bring sales and exposure to our sport. A couple of people have mentioned about special colors and patterns is great but there is a stocking cost for the MFG's. the coat of changing the pattern in the mold and so forth, Some of that has already been done by MC which did set there promo boats apart from your everyday dealer boats. I have been on a promo team for over 30 plus years and I have seen just about everything promo wise and there is always somebody who is not happy.
  8. @303skier I don't blame you. I only go down there when asked to bring my boat.
  9. If 303 is coming to Florida go down to west palm. You will always have somebody to ski with its also 10 degrees warmer in the winter Both air and water temp
  10. Lake Olympia not a good place to live with a family. It's referred to as pine hills lite. Pine hills is a rough part of west Orlando.
  11. lake Hancock has no more public ramp. Isles of lake handcock is closed to homeowners only other then the drew ross training center. Johns lake is a great place to ski. I've ski there many times.
  12. I remember many of those events at Berkeley Aquatic park. Seeing the pros of the day such as Deena Brush Bob and Chris La Point ski was pretty cool. If I am not mistaken the reason Bob quite jumping was because of a bad crash that bruised his heart. A cardiac contusion. @dumbass don,t know if you remember, the coors lite tour used Master craft with a 200 HP outboard that was just as responsive as todays boat and that was also hand driving. Now what could of he done with todays skis you are right who knows. would of been great to see.
  13. As a firefighter/EMT its too cool and can,t pass this up

    5.3 or 5.7

As a promo person the 5.3 is perfect. Why would you go with a 5.7? You will be purchasing an obsolete motor. At least go with a 6 LTR. Don't know if its still available. Look at it this way pay now or pay later when your 16 with a 5.7 will not be worth as much as a 16 with a 5.3 or 6.2.
  15. Masterline is made braided in house and all the material is made in USA. In-tow may be built in new mexico but where does the rope material come from and who braids the rope? China? Don,t know. Master line is the most accurate on the market.
  16. This is a great. Masterline is a stand up company and very easy to work with.
  17. the new ergo handle is the bomb. I have tried both us gear and Masterline and Masterline is better better quality and stands behind there product.
  18. 74K for a 14 200 is nuts it will never sell for that price. If it a 200 you end up purchasing as mentioned above you can add a tower of color choice and save 5 to 7K.
  19. Enjoy won't be there. Do the first 50get a free bag of potatoes?????
  20. Masterline does not tie there handles 5 inches short that I know for a fact. Spectra can be stretches until worn in or the air is pushes out of the rope. That is the case with all ropes. lf somebody got a handle that is 5 inches too short that was a mistake. One other factor not taken into account is the weather. If it is cold the rope will not stretch very much if at all. If warm or hot it will stretch more.
  21. I would not say In Tow are spot on. At the Hancock tournament I shortened 1 and lengthened 1 In Tow handle. All were in open division. If you believe that masterline are short just cut some of the back feed out and this will lengthen the handle. Or ask to tie the handle long when placing the order. Also remember that you can use 5 different boards to get the length and you will get 5 different measurements.
  22. Roger always had a positive attitude and a willingness to go the extra mile when ever needed. RIP Roger you will be sorely missed by all.
  23. The BD has become such an elite event I don't see any advantage of accumulative scores. You are still going to be able to run 39 majority of the time just to be in the mix. You are still going to see the same top 8 in the finals. The guy who just makes the finals is still going to be out first round unless something unusual happens. I may be wrong but we will see.
  24. In the open water. If she drove me in the course we would be divorced.
