  1. @jercrane I have a 200 OB that I previously used on a public lake. My parents also have a 2014 Prostar. Both boats are great boats, however, personally I don't like the saddlebags on the 200. The saddlebags are only useful when you are actually in the boat. Since I keep my boat on a lift - am I really going to keep a bunch of equipment in the saddlebags where it can be stolen? And the 200 was always a problem dunking the nose. It got so bad that I moved the 200 out to a private lake where I ski the course and bought a larger family boat. I know I sound like a grumpy old man here - but my experience.
  2. I agree with @BlueSki I have the HO version of the Reflex (with a rear Reflex 1/2 cuff) and modern bindings are definitely worth it. I'm posting this since I had a massive OTF Sunday and the system performed well.
  3. Several of us took a set today with Wade. Definitely a down to earth good guy. Unlike some coaches he only focused on 1-2 things (good).
  4. As a 34 mph skier I've never understood why people don't look more closely at her skiing style. Quiet power with minimal movement. Regina is a whopping 5' 4" and she gets it done big time. Several years ago I participated in a charity type tournament that had locals (me) and also pros (like Regina). Very nice person. Her core looked to be incredibly strong. I went off the dock right after her......................
  5. There is a reason the 1/4 video of Regina has over 377,000 views. I did a quick search and haven't seen another video with more views.
  6. Wade is coaching at several lakes in the Austin area. PM me and I'll give you details.
  7. I have these on my 200 and they are very cool. Much more modern than straps. BUT be very careful when you are connecting and disconnecting the ends into the receivers. It is very easy to slip and either scuff or scratch your gelcoat with the metal ends.
  8. Forgot to to say that the GS20 is also a 98 inch beam - same as the new "Ski Nautique". Pretty tight on my lift. If you have only exposed cables you'll have to sheath them in PVC.
  9. For better or worse I bought a used 2017 GS20 for my family (I also have a 2015 6L 200 for me). My wife is very tolerant of me owning two boats but my 200 is looking like a steal. A lot of the features of the new 200 (are they officially calling it that?) are identical to my GS20 (dash, electronics, rotary dial by the dash and creature comforts are identical). The helm control and hot keys are complicated and take some time to learn. Good luck to anyone jumping in one of these at a tournament and thinking they're just going to wing it.
  10. I saw an interview on NBC and she came across as scheming and creepy. But smart (she went to Harvard). To her credit the interviewers tried to get her to open up to her scheme and she never took the bait. Ultimately how is she different from the Nigerian bobsled team this year or the most famous bobsled team (Jamaica)? Same thing. they need to tighten up.
  11. Obscure trivia - both Nick Foles and Drew Brees went to our local high school. And both guys are were also the Super Bowl MVP.
  12. I have a friend who works for Allegiant and he tells me to not fly his airline. Seriously. The customer service stories he tells me are nuts.
  13. I'm a huge Reflex fan (actually for me the HO system). I'm just a wimp when it comes to rehab.
  14. Maybe I'm being grumpy but why are we talking about trying to fix something as important as a the tension screw for a release mechanism? There's lot of discussion on BOS about the safest bindings etc but it seems to me the safest binding is one that works properly and is in good shape. Just my two cents.
  15. I've struggled with golfers elbow for almost a year. I've tried all kinds of cures but nothing has worked. Finally I bought a Theraband Flexbar. I bought a green and a blue. I mostly use the blue. I've been twisting on it for about a month and this thing works! This week I was able to do several chin-ups and pushups without pain for the first time in about a year. Every time I use the darn thing my forearms and wrists sound like a bowl of Rice Crispys with all the popping noises but I suppose that's the point. Great way to warm-up and exercise this area.
  16. @RazorRoss3 believe me when I tell you you that you don't need to be any stronger. Only looking out for my own safety here.
  17. I know this isn't a comp boat but I sense that some dealers are starting to use an informal unofficial promo program for the Vdrives. I bought a really nice GS20 in October from a guy who has a standing deal with his local dealer to promote surf type boats on the area lakes (ambassador I guess). Just a smart way to do business and drive sales in my opinion.
  18. I still have my Perfect Pull and am getting ready to throw throw it away. I'll give to anyone FREE if they pay the shipping. Due to the size and weight of the device plus where you live shipping runs is estimated to be in the range of $80 to $110. Next week it goes away one way or the other.
  19. Most people will live lots of places when they are single and/or don't have kids. Once you have a kid priorities change. Good schools, proximity to friends etc.
  20. Show skiing = figure skating or ice dancing. To be clear - not a negative. Takes athletic skill but the primary goal is the show. Barefooting and jumping - meh it's the same sport. I respect the people that do it but both of those disciplines take a different mindset. And on both if don't go in 100% with no fear you're screwed.
  21. Camero Blacktec 1.5 I've seen them for sale for around $100. Sure they might be fragile but if you know that going in then you'll be careful. I've had mine for two years. Be sure to get a snug fit
  22. As someone who has bought and sold not only skis but also boats on SIA the best policy is complete honesty. I'm getting ready to sell a boat on SIA and I've already taken pictures of all the positives and negatives of the boat. Also, I know this sounds old fashioned but if the Buyer or Seller will only deal with you via email or text - walk away. There's nothing better than voice communication to make sure everyone is happy.
  23. @horton great idea! More focused on skiing during ski season and less focused during the winter. Gives me a reason to visit the site and make your advertisers happy. For the Ballers in the Southern Hemisphere..........I don't know what to do for you.
  24. Hard to have the best of both worlds. I've mentioned on another thread that I made the mistake of buying a OB200 for a public lake boat. Incredible boat, however, as others have mentioned the bow is very low and "swampable". I finally bought a used GS20 and love it. Moving the 200 out to the private ski lake and selling my 2007 196. I'm very lucky to have the resources to have more than one boat. If you want any feedback about the current crop of smaller boats like the GS20 PM me.
  25. @6balls I've been purposefully avoiding this thread because I just bought a GS20. I'm moving my 200 out to the ski lake and selling my 196 (anyone interested?) I went over to the dark side because my kids don't have the time or quite frankly the desire to 3-event (they hate it). Just because you have a passion doesn't mean your kids share that passion. Since I bought the GS20 my kids have gone out on the darn thing an average of 4/7 days. Last weekend was in the 50's with some wind - no heater tops. Bonus since my wife loves it. Yes, I deserve any abuse that might come my way but my kids will be grown and gone before I blink and this helps.
