  1. I've skied this boat and it is a gem. Plus, Greg know how to take care of his things.
  2. You might not have stuck the landing, but you certainly stuck the tip of the ski.
  3. Friends don't let friends buy GM products
  4. As someone who picked up 2 ruptured eardrums while water skiing, I understand the need for protection. I wear a neoprene headband whenever I'm skiing. One of the the things I noticed on the falls that resulted in a rupture, was in both cases, it was the initial impact that caused the tear. Now with the headband on, it takes the initial slap and you simply put it back on and get ready to get pulled up again. Since I started using the headband about 25 years ago, I haven't had a rupture. YMMV but it works for me.
  5. I was getting coaching a number of years ago with wifey driving the boat. The paid professional looks at my wife halfway though the set and says to her, "He doesn't listen very well, does he?"
  6. Best wishes and keep up the fight.
  7. My experience (2 ruptures in 2 years) is that you just need to avoid the initial blow that comes with the fall. After the 2nd rupture I started wearing a neo headband. Probably close to 20 years without a rupture. YMMV.

    Safety.

Always make sure the driver/observer and the skier are in sync as to what happens when they fall. This discussion happens before the skier leaves the swim step. In my boat, if you're ok you wave your hand above your head. If you're injured you don't wave, you don't motion the boat back you don't try and move. Just lay back and we will be there at warp speed. Before we started this process, I had folks that were hurt trying to get my attention by waving the boat back to them, which implied they were OK. Communication, communication, communication.
  9. @Orlando76 In 94 you could either go injected or get the Holly carb. I choose the carb and was very pleased with the nearly 900 hours I put on that boat.
  10. For that ski you can take if off. Be careful on some of the newer "hotter" skis, as the fin is designed to much more integrated with the other characteristics of the ski and taking it off could take you off the sweet spot.
  11. Lot's of nautiques, mastercrafts and malibus, plus the random tri hull and/or outboards. Oh yeah a 1974 Chevy pickup truck.
  12. After you get the new cable installed whenever you're done with the boat for awhile and you're about to put it on the trailer or lift, put the wheel into the left-most turn possible. This should retract the cable all the way into the sheath which I found prolongs the life of the cable significantly.
  13. I'm not sure how anyone answers the question on comparing transitions. Once your out of rubber you've probably transitioned and can't compare how any of the other products transition as you have already made the switch. Regarding sizing, I've never been in a size 12 anything until I went into these boots. I had virtually no room at the toe in the 11's when I put my foot in the shell without the liner. I'm usually around a 10.5
  14. If you're serious about slalom you're probably not going to like that boat's wake

I could go on but Mama always said if you can't say anything nice....
  16. It was called the Perfect Pull. You might be able to find one online someplace.
  17. I've done a couple of cables on '94 SNOB its really pretty easy as long as you use a fish tape. Be warned that there were 2 different sizes of racks for the '94 so you need to get the right part. Also you might want to pay special attention when you disassemble to whether the rack goes above or below the pinion. Don't ask me why I know about this but it makes for a real sporty steering when left turns right and right turns left. Also once you get the new cable on whenever you park the put the wheel in the hardest left turn possible. This keeps the cable retracted into the sleeve.

  20. Any thoughts on back pressure issues?
  21. There's a reason we call them wuss guards.
  22. Damn, that is a hell of a mosquito.
  23. @jhughes great list but I'm pretty sure the GT-40 was available in 1994 for the Nautique lineup. I've got one in my 1994

@ozski you need to change your signature line.
  25. Not to be a hater, but there is a reason there is very little water-skiing in New Mexico, there is very little of anything going on in New Mexico. I looked into moving to Albuquerque a few years ago and was surprised at how little was going on,
