  1. I would agree with what Ed said. My wife about the same size as yours and is primarily an open water skier at 32 mph, she has been on a Radar Senate for the last couple of years and loves it.

  3. Why stop at 100? We routinely ski in Bakersfield in the 90's and 80's. My partner actually took a set in the 60's a year or two ago but thankfully, I missed that fun.
  4. I like the existing system but would like to be able to navigate directly to any new comments that have been posted to a thread I have previously looked at. In other words each thread would have a link I could click on that would take you directly to comments I haven't seen.
  5. It looks to me like you initiate your turns by killing all of your speed at the apex of your pull and then initiating your edge change which causes you to sink and then you end up on the tail of the ski. You should try and carry your speed through the turn and let the ski come around naturally as it slows and you reach the maximum outward point of your path. This should also allow you to be in a stronger pulling position as you reconnect to the boat and it should also help you do a better job of keeping your arms extended as you come out of your turn. Video is a lot easier to critique than still photos.
  6. What's an off season? As long as there is neoprene and a cooler full of hot water there isn't a need to stop
  7. I've got a similar weather report posted on my refrigerator at the ski house. Shows a high of 200 with a heat index of nearly 20,000 degrees. Man it was warm that day.
  8. look just south of the 91 and east of the 15 where they intersect in Corona
  9. Marine Stadium in Long Beach is still open for skiing but there isn't a course and you're going to be fighting with a lot of wake boarders for water. If you go out during the week as soon as it opens (8:00?) you will probably be able to make a couple of sets worth of turns on pretty good water. I would avoid the weekends unless you go off season, which probably means October through March. It is salt water and I don't know of anyone I can direct you to that puts a boat in there these days.
  10. Your situation sounds a lot like where I was at when this season began. In the last month I haven't missed a 15 off pass. The difference??? A single lesson. You probably have something in the way you are skiing that is keeping you from being consistent. I spent a day with Trent F and he had me focusing on two things, after a week or two of practice I have basically picked up a full pass. It worked for me however YMMV.
  11. If you are going to take a step back in terms of the amount of intensity that you are skiing with, that alone will probably eliminate, or significantly reduce, future injuries. Just getting out of the course will keep you from pushing the envelope and keep you from exposing yourself to potential injury. If that is the case binding selection becomes less critical. If you are still going to be skiing hard and "going for it", then I would recommend you go to rubber front and back.
  12. The deep v handle combined with instruction to keep weight on her back foot should do a lot to keep the ski from shooting to the side.
  13. "all about the bump at 22 and 28 off. What I would expect is a boat that is mostly the same as the current boat but better wakes for the ladies. " FU Horton, we aren't all slalom gods, I'm a guy and that's where I ski. On a good day that is. I hope the sarcasm is apparent and you don't take this too seriously. I know I didn't.
  14. First lesson to all new skiers in the boat, if you fall and are ok wave, if not just lay back in the water. Everyone knows the signals.
  15. I just got a couple of pairs of Hurley System 120's for Father's Day and they are super comfortable with no ballooning. But they are real pricy. They appear to run a little large so buy them one size smaller than you usually wear.
  16. I would agree with jdarwin's comments about Trent. After he left your tournament he flew out to CA where he put on a private coaching clinic for a half dozen of us and all the participants were very pleased with the results. Trent had the ability to put the concepts he was trying to get us to follow into words that we understood and could replicate on the water and he was a helluva a nice guy.
  17. You will be hard pressed to beat the 1994 Mastercraft wakes for slalom. I'm not sure how long they had this hull. I think it was from about '93-'95. You certainly don't want the next generation which was christened the Disastercraft.

  19. 1 Slow the boat down 2 It looks like when you release your outside hand from the handle on the turns you are forcing it. This should movement should come naturally as part of the slowing of the ski through the turns. To me it looks as if you would be better off with a 2 handed turn at this point. Spending time freeskiing will help you develop this timing.
  20. 35 degrees in a shorty? You're either a lot tougher than me or just frick'n crazy. I ski all year long here in CA and have never been in water that cold with anything other than a drysuit. I don't think I could get anything to work in those conditions with that little amount of insulation. Give the new ski a chance in some normal conditions.
  21. If you are rff which way do you rotate the rear binding? The direction that places your big toe closer to the edge of the ski or the direction which places your little toe closer to the edge of the ski?
  22. @horton, Is there a way to private message or whisper to other members?
  23. What MattP said. The Last Comment feature on old version was great any way to get that on this version?
