  1. Nate’s three was at Swiss. Bad boat path. What a surprise! It was dark and no one could see. The driver (Chad Scott, I think) was lucky he could find his way back to the dock. That was not a case of bad driving or friendly driving. It was doing the best you could with the conditions you had. My bet is that Nate breaks the record again, at least once, before he is finished.
  2. Heads up: IWWF just approved a change to Rule 8.15. Rule change as applied to L events still only applies to -38 and shorter. The biggest clarification is that on a mandatory reride on an incomplete pass with a positive deviation, you have a protected score up to the last buoy in tolerance and can only improve to the original score skied in the out-of-tolerance incomplete pass. Previously, your ability to improve was only limited if the last buoy the skier went around in the incomplete pass was the buoy that was out of tolerance. The rule book will not be immediately updated. The rule goes into effect on June 10.
  3. Considering Freddy is 47 and has no need to take unnecessary risks or to prove himself to anyone, one jump for the win and ski in makes absolute sense, unless his training and the conditions are such that setting a record is feasible. The likelihood of a season (or career) ending fall in slalom while trying to set a record, even at 43, is far less than in jump.
  4. I think I have one of those is the archives. I’ll let it go for half the price!
  5. @jcamp I didn’t know you were from out west.
  6. I’ll bet that it is significantly easier to get to Avon than Tuscaloosa unless you are riding with other people from the ski school.
  7. @OldboyII The 90’s called and they want their CDs back!
  8. @208maverick If it was your left shoulder that was repaired, I’d be cautious about driving. I injured my shoulder following rotator cuff repair turning the wheel for a 90* turn to line up for the course (our club lake has a dogleg at one end). On the other hand, if it’s your right shoulder, all the more power to you. 😉
  9. @Drago I agree. But the question was about shims, and the assumption was that you need to shim the plate, and my point is that you can also “shim” the foot inside the boot to get the same result. No?
  10. Strips of duct tape. Build sort of a stair case from the low side to the high side. Depending how high you want to go, you may need longer screws on the high side. Personally, if I was going to cant my boots, and since I wear hard shells, I’d put something in the shell under the liner or in the liner. Try something like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/1-Pair-of-Bow-Legs-Correcting-Insoles-PU-Strephexopodia-Corrector-Leg-Correction-Pads-Foot-Care-Cushion-Size-XS-32-34-Gr/2115483738?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101133944&&adid=222222222282115483738_101133944_148487627733_18354527428&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=656994559350&wl4=pla-2012465421553&wl5=9051575&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=555176123&wl11=online&wl12=2115483738_101133944&veh=sem&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIp_RtH9orNFk4rZfKIqEar4A&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuo2dyJ6o_wIVzXxMCh28lAyXEAQYAiABEgI6ifD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  11. Maybe it’s age and slow reaction times, but I want to start my turn in as my speed and the boat speed are about to be the same. By mentally initiating my run in at that moment, by the time I’m actually moving toward center I have a tight line and plenty of support and lean angle, while at the same time not being overpowered by the boat. In other words and for me, anticipation is an important component of my turn in timing.
  12. There are videos available on the USAWSWS site to be used for instructional spurloseste for judging. Go to Menu, Disciplines, Slalom Trick Jump, More, Resourses, for officials. You’ll get a Menü of trick Video to watch
  13. @horton Did I miss something? Where is the proof it was Nautique? All I’ve seen is speculation.
  14. It’s up to the CJ to designate which cameras are “official.” And that has to be done before the tournament starts. Good to see the potential corrective efforts. Kudos to Rhoni. The fallacy of this thread is that it assumes that Nautique banned Freddie. My guess is that’s incorrect. My bet it is that it was the IWWF. And “banning” Freddie from the qualifiers may make sense. If he can’t ski the Masters and there are only so many available spots at the qualifiers, then giving a spot to someone who can’t qualify is taking a spot away from someone who can.

    Masters

Oddly, I was at a site yesterday that had a reputation for wind chop and we had great conditions all day, and plenty of TP.

    Masters

Calaway Gardens owns the Masters, not Nautique.
  17. “[Water skiing] is 90% mental. The other half is physical.” Yogi Berra, sort of…
  18. In a unanimous decision, the U.S. Supreme Court today rejected the very expansive EPA definition of Waters of the Inited States as adopted during the Obama administration, repealed in the Trump administration and recently re-adopted in the Biden administration. Good news for farmers, developers and water skiers, among others.
  19. Jim DiBella built that tool. I tried it and thought that it was cool but pricy at around $500 and that was maybe 10 years ago. Jim has also developed some better hardware for a boat path measuring system. The rover box that doesn’t really have a home in the Sure Path system is in an enclosed plastic pod that mounts to the pylon. Very neat and clean. You may see his hardware paired with the BPMS being developed by the Canadians. Only they won’t call it a pod; for sure it will be a puck…
  20. @Ave If you like bluegrass music, check out The Kitchen Dwellers. Local band in Bozeman. There is a ski lake near Whitefish, but that would be a five hour crank for you. You may have to switch to fishing.
  21. @aupatking If you are riding the same ski and keep records of your fin settings, try going back to the same numbers you were running when you were skiing well. Your gear may not be the cause of a slump, but it can’t hurt to check and to optimize your chances for success.
  22. An article on Micky ran on the national news on Fox yesterday. I feel horrible for his family.
