  1. @Wish Busted! If you really were an old fart, you’d recall your mother making you wait an hour after you ate before you could go back in the water.
  2. I vary my ski sets. Sometimes I run up the rope, sometimes I ski a whole set at a particular line length. Sometimes I work on skill A, sometimes skill B. Sometimes I practice trick skiing or ride my jump skis. By avoiding daily repetition, I avoid slumps.
  3. Interesting. Nate got ahead of Freddie coming out of two ball but Freddie beat Nate over to four. Incredible acceleration out of three.
  4. Groovy described not only your attitude but the bottom of your ski.
  5. Can you look for my Vaurnet sunglasses? I dropped them at three ball in 1986.

    Mirror

I have a PTM. My friend (who has well over 100 gold medals from Nationals, including overall 10 years in a row) has two normal mirrors and between the two you can see everything you can see with a PTM. So if you are on the cheap, buy a second normal mirror, probably from someone that upgraded to a PTM.
  7. Bonus buoys after a miss in slalom. Skiing with a life belt. Fins that attach to the bottom of the ski. Fins with no wing. Very large turn balls.
  8. @Horton Don’t be too quick to give @Golfguy a panda. The very idea he suggests is technology now being developed by Jenn LaPoint for her Compete app. Her app will track the path of the ski and can be used for “virtual course skiing” or as a training tool in the course. It’s pretty cool stuff.
  9. When I do running orders, I base it around what I have for officials. I lay out officials by split. Whoever works split 1 has to ski split 2 or 3, etc. Once my officials are laid out, I fill in the other divisions around them.
  10. I grew up in the time when everyone skied overall and single eventers like KLP were unusual. I still think the overall competitors are the best skiers. Look at who the best overall skiers include: Regina (#3 in the World in overall and past overall world record holder). Whitney until she had a child Carl Roberge, who was a legit threat to win any pro event in slalom and jump. Andy. He tricked over 4000 at the 2014 Senior Worlds. Bob LaPoint, Sammy Duvall and Camille Duvall. Jennifer Leachman LaPoint won the jump at Nationals her last year in girls. Joel Poland, Dorien Llewellyn (and his dad) Adam Sedlmajor. Giannina Bonnemann and Robert Hazelwood. And loads of other greats, past and present. The folks that can ski three events at an elite level are, in my opinion, the cat’s nads.
  11. @m_pags Dewey started my prep school (Northwood School) and The Lake Placid Club, where I did a lot of my growing up. Before the advent of winter sports, Lake Placid, FL was to be the winter home for both. Hence the name change for the Florida property, which was a condition of its purchase.
  12. Lake Placid, FL is named after Lake Placid, NY.
  13. Don’t know about the book, but I know Filippos. Good guy. Great skier. Last I knew he rides a LaPoint. A zoom in on the book shows just that.
  14. If you invest in Sure Path, you can use it to locate your submerged buoy. If you don’t want to buy Sure Path, put your sunken buoy at the entrance gate and ZO with start chirping as you get closer and tone when you are close. I’d have a couple submerged buoys to make it easier to find. You also could attach a fishing bobber to your submerged buoy using 20 lb test or heavier fishing line. Only you know it’s there. If someone disturbs it or if it breaks off or sinks, it only there to help you find you buoy. You still have back up with SP or ZO. Leave your rope that’s tied to the “No Wake Zone” buoy in place as your failsafe.
  15. Not sure about skiing, but the wind surfing at the Columbia River Gorge is as good as it gets.
  16. I have one of these. https://www.outdoorplay.com/products/nrs-river-wing-shelter?variant=41614434238615&gclid=CjwKCAjwkeqkBhAnEiwA5U-uM4w6SvoFg4EQ7vNJCMQMKAxx-a7jXm7ti7Rbmy32oMty2dCULrX-hhoCFPgQAvD_BwE it’s easy to set up but takes a little time and takes up a lot of space, but once you’re done you have lots of shade and you’ll make a lot of friends if you let them join you.
  17. I am told (by a member) that MGM has a club.
  18. Overall, I’d say the scores were on the lower side. Conditions?
  19. Looks like a fine opportunity to check the course survey and make any needed adjustments. What happened? Did they stop pumping? Did the well go dry? Did the County, State or Feds ration the water? Or did the liner tear?
  20. @MDB1056 Newberry Springs, CA. A skiing oasis in the Mojave Desert, between LA and Las Vegas.
  21. I’m 185 on a large. At 210 I’d say XL.
  22. The Senate is a slightly wider version of the Vapor. I went from a 2020 Vapor to a 2021 c85. The transition was seemless. I stand on the ski just like I stood on the Vapor. Everything the Vapor did well, the C 85 does a little better. I doubt you’ll have any difficulties whatsoever switching to a C85, assuming of course that you aren’t changing bindings at the same time. Change one or the other, but not both at the same time.
