  1. Here in Mantana your vehicle starts much easier on those sub-zero mornings if you're running a synthetic oil. Considering how difficult my '93 Mastercraft is to start when the engine is cold, I'm going to try some synthetic this year and see if it helps. JP :)
  2. I was fighting winter with both heels dug in, but now that the mountains are open, I'm stoked to be able to take a couple of runs each day. The $59 airfare to Orlando still sounds sweet though. JP :)
  3. I installed Stargazer myself with very little mechanical aptitude and have found it immensely cooler than throttle driven passes! JP :)
  4. Makes me want to move back to Seattle. That and the sub zero temps we've been having lately. Sweet skiing Richard! JP :)
  5. I tore my rotator cuff this summer due to being unable to release the handle during an otf fall while wearing the Masterlocks. It may have been that the gloves were slightly too big to perform properly. I switched to the HO Talon and can't imagine a better glove. JP :)
  6. I tried to embed footage of jetboat racing in Oregon, but it's not working. But my point is that it's definitely got a PNW scene. Here's the link:   JP :)
  7. I have no idea what I'm talking about here, but if there is question about the structural integrity of the brass strut, why not make 'em out of stainless steel as Jody mentioned? I'm still waiting for the video of Eric drilling into his new Tournament Team! JP :)
  8. I'm a total duffer when it comes to skiing in the course - 15 off at 30mph - but I've been told to concentrate on getting more pull out of my trailing arm. The opposite of what yer sayin' 6ball. Am I misunderstanding something somewhere? JP :)
  9. I wear a 7.5 shoe and had a hard time getting the size 9 Prodigy on my foot. Super narrow. JP :)
  10. Back to this single malt scotch thing. I put it in my hot cocoa. Is that cool?  JP :)
  11. What about the parks with the wineos? Â JP :)
  12. I just read the Nate Smith thread on skifly. I think they could ban a few folks and not suffer too greatly from it. I really appreciate this place. It's pure skiing. I rarely have to wade through someone's political diatribes or snarky remarks, but if such things rear their ugly heads someone is quick to add levity and bring the conversation back to having fun. Thanks Horton! And thanks to the rest of you! JP :)
  13. I hope Eric manages to film any alterations he makes to that boat. That would certainly go viral on the you tubes. JP :)
  14. I sent you an email Justin. Willow Creek is the Three Forks lake. The folks who own it are great people. JP :)
  15. I was wondering if it got below freezing in Bakersfield or Newberry Springs. The biggest obstacle to cold weather skiing for me is the safe maintenance of the boat. If I were a more confident mechanic it would probably make my life a lot less stressful. In terms of the X7 I noticed that Nate Smith switched to it AFTER he finished second to Will Asher on his Z7, so he must feel pretty confident on the new ski. JP :)
  16. Hey Justin, I haven't skied on Schutter's lake, but I have a couple of friends who have. I've been fortunate enough to get access to a private lake in Willow Creek. I can take you for a pull on Sunday if the weather cooperates. I'm not sure when they/we were going to pull the course, but I'm guessing Sunday may very well be the day. Even still, I'm sure we'd be skiing before all that goes down. JP
  17. How cold does it get down there in the winter? We've got a sweet indian summer going on up here in Mantana, but I find it hard to believe that our season will end at roughly the same time as the Southern California season. The X7 looks pretty sweet in that water color. JP :)
  18. I guess his recent successes weren't flukes! JP:)
  19. I'm JP Polsak ( my grandpa was PJ Lawless which is way cooler). I started skiing when I was seven or eight. When you get to be my age (43) those things start to blur. I skied the course for the first time when I was 16, but I was so gawd awful that it shouldn't really count. I didn't get in the course again until this summer. I just skied a PB today (15 off @ 32mph), so I'm super stoked. I have a '93 Mastercraft Stars & Stripes with 215hours on it, and I just installed stargazer this week. My family is healthy, it's an indian summer, and I have a private ski lake all to myself at the moment, so I couldn't be happier! Today one of my pals said he wished he was 16 again. I'm just stoked to be alive! JP :)
  20. I went skiing with a 21-year-old coed today. My mirror got a workout. I think I'll just leave it at that.  JP :)
  21. I called Brenda up on a Tuesday and had my rope by Friday. I love how it comes with my name handwritten on it. I'm all for supporting a small homespun operation that allows me to talk to the owner/operator like Brenda's and the rope/handle combo has been flawless. It's like the difference between having a custom bike and having something made in Taiwan. JP :)
  22. I would absolutely love to cruise down to Austin for this event, but being that summer is so incredibly short up here in Mantana, I'd like to see the event in the middle of Roctober. Otherwise, I'd probably be more interested in going to Jodi Fisher's or Bennett's. We have one more week of skiing left if we're lucky. Last year it snowed on October 8 and it stayed until frickin' May!  For what it's worth I'm an absolute duffer. I just skied a PB of 15 off at 32mph today. Woohoo! But I'm willing to go arse over tea kettle for someone's amusement. Are half shirts out of step these days? I thought they had made a comeback! Maybe that's my raw table muscle. JP :)
  23. When I travel to asia it is much easier and cheaper to buy a phone there. I can't speak for Europe as I've never been. JP :)
  24. Nick Parsons looked really balanced last weekend too. JP :)
  25. Bob LaPoint seemed to be impressed with the boat at Diablo Shores. JP :)
