  1. I was wondering the same thing. What are the best bouys to use for your 55's? The round Polyform/Gladiators, or the oblong boat guides? How about the entrance gates? Do you use the same bouy as is used for the turn bouy? We're most interested in safety as opposed to durability. Thanks!
  2. As Shane was saying Jodi wants a 50/50 stance in terms of front and rear foot pressure. To achieve that he had me really exaggerate my counter rotation of my right hip (LFF). When I did this I couldn't help but be stacked on top of my ski and pressure the front foot more. It really helped my offside turn dramatically, but I'm still a duffer.
  3. I just skied on my Elite for the first time after moving the binders up 1/4" and leaving the stock fin settings. It was awesome. My off side didn't exist. It literally became my favorite side - well at least a very thrilling side anyways. I just had to think about turning and the ski responded. I don't know if I've ironed out all my shortcomings, but my confidence is riding a huge stoke. It was under really choppy conditions and no fin blowout at all. If this ski is wrong for me, I don't wanna' be right. Credit Jodi Fisher once again! That feller knows of what he speaks.  JP :)
  4. I towed my '93 Prostar 190 from Seattle to Bozeman with a 4.7 liter Tundra. Up and over five mountain passes... in snow and it did awesome. Never even knew the boat was back there. I've since traded up to the 5.7 liter engine 'cause it's just funner to drive. JP :)
  5. At Marcus Brown's clinic he pointed out how similar the design of the A1 was to the Strada which made me curious as to how they differed when skied. Can you recollect any similarities or differences between those two skis?  JP :)
  6. I skied behind Jodi Fisher's 2011 TT and it is a sweet boat! That interior is really spectacular.  JP :)
  7. That thar is a durn purdy ski & I don't see any graphics on there that my mother would object to. How much is going to go for? JP :)
  8. Congratulations! That's awesome... as long as you passed your tests!  JP :)
  9. I love the looks of the Quattro, but I think I would have called it the Blunt Object. JP :)
  10. Sixam675, Thanks for the info! Those settings are definitely what work best for me, but I wasn't sure if I needed to compensate when I move my bindings forward 1/4 inch... something I wasn't too keen to do because I felt comfortable with my settings, but Jodi was pretty insistent that I move 'em. Chef, I've switched to Firefox for BOS and that seems to work for me. Safari doesn't. Thanks again! JP :)
  11. Thanks fer all the input fellas! I actually love my Elite - especially on my good side. I used to blow out my tail on my off side until I dialed in the fin settings - which was a huge PITA. I have never gotten the factory settings spot on, and I'm never certain I'm measuring properly - especially my DFT, but when I get it as close to factory specs as possible it really works for me. The only suggestion Jodi made about my setup was to move my bindings forward about a 1/4 inch which I've done, but now I'm not sure what to do about my fin settings if anything. Up until I was 16, I was able to ski quite often, but after that summer it's been a real hassle getting pulls and finding ski partners. This summer has been all about rectifying that and now I'm a lifer. I've got my own boat ('93 Prostar S&S) and a growing number of ski pals, so you can expect to be annoyed and possibly offended by my incessant idiocy (Eric Lee is my BOS hero after all!) for some time to come. JP :)
  12. I'm still not getting any paragraphs no matter how often I hit enter. JP :)
  13. Thanks! I was gonna' email Jodi to verify whether or not he thought I should move to a different ski, but now that I think about it, he would have DEFINITELY told me I was on the wrong ski! I think it would have sounded something like this, "JP you're going to have to switch skis before I say another word to you!" Thanks again! JP :)
  14. Alright. I'll just cut to the chase. I've waterskied recreationally since I was seven and been a competitive snow skier, subsequently I had a horribly exaggerated perception of my waterskiing ability. Horribly exaggerated! So I bought a 65.5 O'brien Elite (I'm 5'5" & 135lbs) with Fogman Diablos. Then I videotaped myself skiing and realized I was breaking at the waist on my offside and simply wasn't the skier I thought I was. I went to a Marcus Brown Clinic and he immediately brought my speed down to 30mph and started working on getting more front foot pressure - no attempts at the course at all. A week later I tore my rotator cuff and couldn't practice anything for a couple of months. And then I skied with Jodi Fisher for four days and he took my speed all the way down to 26mph and removed all the lean in my turns and made me steer my ski to create the turn. By the end of the four days I was skiing the course at 15 off/28mph. Now that I have a more accurate idea of my abilities, I'm concerned that I may be undermining my progress skiing on the Elite. Is that true and if so, which ski would be the best for me? The Senate, Senate C, Connelly V, F1X, Coefficient, or the Coefficient SL? Thanks a ton! Also, is there a way to create paragraphs? JP :)
  15. My lack of skill requires that I acquire boutique gear in order to feel better about myself. JP :)
  16. I'm with you Scot. I'm ready to move to Florida for couple of winters! JP :)
  17. I'm in your same boat. I just took four days of clinics with Jodi Fisher where he stripped me down to crossing the wakes without any lean at all - concentrating on getting "connected" and keeping my right hip (LFF) driven over the center of my ski - automatically pressuring the front foot. He'll tell you to concentrate on doing this at all times from the moment you put on your ski. Never sit in the water without driving that weak hip forward. From there he has me keeping it simple in that everything is in alignment - creating the turn at my feet up through my knees, hips, shoulders, and head. They should all be in line with the tip of my ski at all times. I have always enjoyed my onside turn, but it created more speed than my offside could manage. You're out of position (as was I) because you don't trust that turn, and until you do, you need to bring things back to where you can cross in a stacked position. Toning down my lean to only as much as needed was magic. By the end of the fourth day I ran my PB in back to back passes. Good luck! JP :)
  18. I skied with Jodi Fisher last week and plan on making a trip to Orlando to ski with him more. He's an incredible coach - $60 a set. JP :)
  19. This experiment needs more pics! JP :)
  20. I just spent the past four days skiing with Jodi and it was awesome! One of the greatest learning experiences of my life. I had to call him Mr. Miagi after my last set. I wish I could swing another road trip to Seattle. Jodi Fisher, Radar Lake, & a brand new 2011 Tournament Team?! Crazy. JP :)
  21. I think the Wasatch mountain range (SLC) is technically part of the Rockies. I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I'm not. JP :)
  22. I've lived or spent time in all the western locations mentioned above and any of them would be awesome choices. Utah, Montana, and Seattle are a toss-up as far as I'm concerned. Utah has incredible mountains and the Utah Lake Ski Club is cool beyond words. I've heard of winter inversions that cripple the air quality, but I've been there several times in the winter and never experienced it. I think they say that to keep everyone from moving there. Montana has the fewest people, but winter lasts from October to June with many of those months being arctic temperatures. Also, if you want to buy land for a private lake, you'll be looking at spending at least a million on the land alone... then you'll have to do some sneaky stuff to build your lake. Seattle has phenomenal mountains and tons of water, but let's face it - it rains there. It rained over 100 days straight during the winter of 97/98. Not just a drizzle, mind you, but a constant downpour. Of course that rain equated to snow in the mountains. I skied untracked powder every run of every day that year. It was crazy. I lived in Tahoe for a year and it is pretty amazing. Don't bother skiing there on the weekends though. JP :)
  23. This has been my favorite interwebs thread ever. JP :)
  24. Awesome info! I'm gonna' go ahead and order one. Lord knows I need help keeping my hips countered and it sounds like it would offer my shoulder a skosh more protection. Thanks! JP :)
