  1. I just read my last post and it does sound kind of demanding. That wasn't my intention at all, but I am relatively anxious to figure this stuff out. I've been off the water for five weeks now and I'm groping for anything that may speed my return. Thanks for the levity!
  2. Tap! Tap! This thing on? Has anyone tried the Ski Harness? Thanks! JP :)
  3. Here's a link to the Ski Harness if you are unfamiliar with it. http://www.jagersport.com/product_info.php?cPath=89&products_id=260
  4. Has anyone tried the FM ski harness? I tore my rotator cuff a month ago and figure I'll need to buy a powervest UNLESS the ski harness will achieve the same results for my shoulder. Thanks! JP :)
  5. At his clinic in June, Marcus was very clear that west coast wasn't a style, but rather a technique that you could apply to your own skiing. Regardless, the cornerstones were being stacked over your ski, being countered with your shoulders and hips, and supple with your knees. It seemed Marcus was a little concerned about the misconceptions associated with the term "West Coast Style" as well. He's the real deal when it comes to coaching though. It would be easy for one of these pros to just show up and go through the motions, but Marcus was 100% engaged. His movement analysis is incredibly honed. Nothing gets by him, and his remedies tended to be simple and easily digested. The combination of both Marcus and Jen makes their clinic an incredible value fo sho! JP :)
  6. Price them out/in. If I had access to a ski lake but didn't have time to contribute as much as I'd like, I'd be happy to pay more to ease my conscience while I'm rounding a bouy. JP :)
  7. I was hoping to make it out for that clinic, but I decided I had too much to work on from Marcus' clinic down at Utah Lake. Good thing too, 'cause I tweaked my left deltoid/pectoral muscles two weeks ago and haven't been able to ski since. One more week of rehab and it should all be solid again... and I'll be coming out to Seattle to visit friends, family, & our cabin on Lake Cushman. More video please! JP :)
  8. The folks I know who ski 34 and have skied both prefer the A1. JP :)
  9. If you had a brand new 190/197 would you be performing this mod on it? How accurate do you have to be in your measurements to achieve the desired results? Do you think you would be seeing dramatically different results if you were up/back 1/16 of an inch? I'm just curious, but it sure sounds like a pretty awesome modification. You have way more cajones than me! JP :)
  10. I've got a pair of small Masterline ProLocks if anyone wants them. They've seen six sets. JP :)
  11. I have a friend who switched from the A1 to the S1 and felt rather ambivalent about it. He skis deep into 38 @34 for what it's worth. The Radar Strada seems to be the hot ski right now, but I've heard from a few very well placed folks that the Strada is very similar to the A1. Just sayin' - I'm just a duffer who probably wouldn't know the difference. JP :)
  12. JL - if I could gain permission to ski at Schutter's by the 24th, I would certainly give you a pull, but getting permission is kind of tricky. I have a friend who skis there, but it took him a lot of time and effort to finally gain access. I'm sure the owner gets lambasted with requests, so I'm hesitant to annoy him further, but I guess I have nothing to lose, so I'll make a concerted effort when I get back from Utah this weekend. JP :)
  13. You have mail Rob! Â JP :)
  14. By the way, I had a pretty significant fall yesterday, but my Fogman's released. I don't know what would have happened with another setup, but I was pretty happy with the way they released. My ankle still tweaked a little bit, but a friend had a very similar fall a week ago in a set of Animals and broke his ankle.  JP :)
  15. Hey Richard! I would love to enter the BOS/EZFin Challenge, but I haven't run a course in 27 years - not since we pulled the course in Lake Tapps (Sumner, WA) in '83. I now live in Bozeman, MT where courses are mighty hard to come by, but I'm making some inroads. But tournaments.... I would have to travel pretty far for that. I am going to Utah Lake this week for the Marcus Brown Face to Face Clinics, so if he does his job right, I'll be cruisin' to all the tournaments available - unless I find out I totally suck in the course and need to pick up bowling.  What's happening in your neck of the woods with the Mapple tour? I would love any info you have on that. I still have lots of family and friends in the Seattle area, so I'm planning at least one trip there this summer.  JP :)
  16. I ordered a rope and handle from Brenda at In-Tow and had both on my doorstep within four days. It would have been sooner, but she didn't start making it until I ordered it! JP :)
  17. Thanks everyone! I removed the tape from the G10 plate and kept the tape that the release units came with. I didn't want to risk having the incorrect stack height where the release mechanism contacts the Fogman plate. I used interlock between the G10 plate and the ski. Everything works great and looks stealth.  JP :)
  18. I'm trying to mount my Fogman releases to the G10 plate, but the plate has double back tape where the screw mounts are and the releases have double back tape at the screw mounts. Do I need to remove one of these layers of tape? It seems like you'd only need one layer of double back tape, but I don't want to assume anything - especially when this is how each product came.  Thanks for any enlightenment available! JP :)
  19. I love this forum. It's so nice to be able to discuss the different virtues of different boat makes and years. Part of my love of skiing is my love of boats. I happen to be a Mastercraft owner, but I'd take a '99 196 in a heartbeat. Heck. I'd take any inboard from any era in a heartbeat!  JP :)
  20. What time is the slalom tomorrow? Â JP :)
  21. I'd still buy a Fischer water ski though. Austria has done a fairly good job of protecting their jobs and Fischer snow skis stand apart from all the rest in terms of construction and longevity. Made in Austria is still worlds cooler than made in China.  JP :)
  22. Until sanity is restored to our trading policies (sorry for the editorial), it will be very difficult to find items like boots made here in the US. The manufacturing infrastructure no longer exists and must be re-created, but that won't happen when it can be made in China for a fraction of the cost and no import tariffs are in place to protect American jobs and manufacturers. Huge Kudos to all the folks who still try to eek out sweet products like Stradas and Elites!  JP :)
  23. I found out that I had a reaction to Vicadin the night following my surgery which resulted in getting out of bed (excruciating), hobbling to the bathroom (equally excruciating), and throwing up (extremely excruciating). I would recommend getting an anti-nausea pill to go with your pain relievers to avoid a similar debacle.  JP :)
  24. I had an inguinal hyrnia about 14 years ago - dang it doesn't seem that long ago. As I recall I was greenlighted to "stretch it out" almost immediately, however I was in no hurry to do so. I had to wait a couple of months for the surgery, but I would recommend getting it taken care of as soon as possible. You're not going to be a very effective skier with intestines pushing their way next to yer boys. You'll be able to do everything within four weeks after surgery, but you'll be tender for quite some time. I still feel mine when the weather changes. Bottom line in my mind is get it done as soon as possible and get it behind you. Like Dawg said, it only gets worse and worse and the side effects (gas storing in your pinched intestines) are nearly as bad as the discomfort and pain. Good luck and happy healing! JP :)
  25. Thanks for all the input fellas! I sure do appreciate it. Thanks again for all your technical support Tad! I get better service from the shop 3,000 miles away than I do here in town.  And that's sayin' something. My Fogmans are second hand, but brand new and unused, so I shouldn't have any issues with the setup. The additional safety of the G10 plate should quell all my fears as well. Worrrying about binding related injuries is certainly not new to me. I can remember getting nervous when the Kidder high wraps replaced the wet wrap some 27 years ago. My biggest concern is definitely hitting a ball, but that is just a matter of calming down and not letting my ego get away from me. Considering my style, I think these binders are going to do the trick perfectly well - while being comfortable and warm (there's still snow on the ground here).  Thanks again to all who responded! Thanks Richard for posting all your videos throughout the winter! I grew up on Lake Tapps, so I know exactly how cold those sets were! Heck! Tapps doesn't even start fill up until Spring.  JP :)
