  1. Wow...great videos, great skiing! Curious @AdamCord, what was the Big Dawg debacle you mentioned above? Sent you a email last week, just in case you missed it.
  2. @Than_Bogan ....in that case, I'm willing to give you all the credit for new ski...ha...i also was able to watch with @lpskier Adam ski yesterday at the ERs...impressive ski and skier. Probably more important, I met and chatted with Adam for while and thoroughly enjoyed discussing the ski as well as personal stuff...very nice young man. As an old engineer with grad degree on fluid/aero dynamics, I was very happy to discuss the ski design with Adam (I did tell him I don't remember any of that science stuff). When they have a 65in ski, who knows what I'll do?? Haha ...and no, I did not ski well myself...but then again, I wasn't on a c (lower case) 65...
  3. @Chef23, you looked great when I saw you Sunday...this is a major step...see you soon
  4. I'm with @Bruce_Butterfield on this one...too many variables to be able to discern the impact of skier height/reach alone. (Although for me at 5'5", may be it would show I'm really better than my 6'2" ski partner...lol). If @So_I_Ski would like to do this for fun, no harm done. However, as a "real" test I don't see it proving anything...(for all I know one of the skiers - short or tall - might miss his opening pass gates). Consistency and ultimate score or PB are different things...there's an ongoing related tread here. The answer to the question is probably in the database of ski scores for the short and tall athletes, e.g. "has Terry ever beaten Chris"? In my mind, a more "valid test" would be to have the skiers ski for awhile with longer handle (short skier) or shorter handle (tall skier) and see how much their scores equalize...
  5. @skimtb i believe i have at least a couple. PM me if interested.
  6. @Chef23 Great to hear! When I saw you a couple of weeks ago, we joked about being able to share the same ski now...glad you're putting some lbs back on and this was the last surgery. Come visit...a driver always welcome and a coach always needed! See you soon!
  7. Based on my (admittedly non-scientific, but small sample empirical) analyses, my answer is "I have no idea"... Me -right handed/right footed. Started skiing age 39. ski LFF Older son - left handed/left footed. Started skiing age 5. ski LFF Younger son - right handed/right footed. Started skiing age 4. ski RFF Oh well...
  8. I got a chuckle when I first saw this post. I have "your" boat at my house (except for the tandem and 6L)...but it's NOT my boat! And had no idea if the owner was interested in selling. Now I see @zedog already posted above. He has kept it here (see photo - one on the right with the waterline cover) for the last 3 years.
  9. Four very short sets since April 21...drysuit in all of them so far. Not that I ski that well mid season, but the way i ski now it's a stretch to even think i could get there eventually...good news is it happens this way every year so it minimizes my level of current "depression"...actually it is a blast just to be back in the water. Looking forward to having @Chef23 coming over to drive and enjoy an outing with me...soon.
  10. I'm with @Chef23...you are "animals"..but the awesome kind! All the best!
  11. OUCH! Younger son had identical fracture in late August 2016 (college soccer pre-season game). Surgery within a week. Was back on the field (controlled practice) by February and just came back from overseas soccer trip (spring break) where he played 4 games...tells me he is 95%+ back but some stiffness from time to time after extended workouts. Best of luck with your recovery.
  12. What @LeonL said...Garmin GPS 18x 5Hz High-Sensitivity. $139.95 at Gpscity.com
  13. @Razorskier1, awesome answer to you brother's question!
  14. @lpskier, "Cancer is a long ways away from as bad as it gets." Doubt anyone can say that better than you...
  15. Sending you best wishes from MA for full recovery...from what I've read you're well on your way there.
  16. Charles River...what a great idea! In a long ago previous life, I worked in Cambridge and my daily lunch time run was on Memorial Dr. (Cambridge side) then crossing over and returning on Storrow Dr. (Boston side). It would be fabulous.
  17. FYI, i just checked the gpscity website and the pucks seem to be available and in stock
  18. @LeonL Yes that was me. I copied that information in the above posts. My apologies for the double posts but there was an issue with my account that @Horton just fixed.
  19. @oldmanskier, I cannot comment on the pros/cons of one vs. two puck systems. (only familiar with the 2-puck systems - 2008 LXi and 2013 MC 197). However, I did replace the pucks on the 2008 LXi and copy below a previous post on my exprience F Replaced the two pucks on my '08LXi this summer. Called ZO tech support. He told me the price of new pucks AND without my prompt said I should be able to find them for less money elsewhere. Gave me the part # Garmin GPS18x-5Hz. At that time, the cheapest I found was at www.gpscity.com...$139.95. Installed them and ZO system worked fine immediately. Replaced both of mine this summer. The cheapest I found was here Garmin OEM GPS 18x High-Sensitivity 5Hz Sensor with Bare Wire Connection $139.95 Model: 010-00321-37 SKU: OEM18X5HZ
  20. 66" Nomad, wife's ski, essentially new (28mph non-course skier) 65" O'Brien Endo, my spare ski...used 4-5 sets total Neither is for sale, but either could be sold if interested
  21. I am about half way between @than and @PatM...boats out as of last week...course out tomorrow. I remember when I would ski well into November...must have been much younger then...
  22. @swerveit ...sorry haven't been on BOS...just gave my friend your email. I assume he'll follow up with you
  23. @swerveit see my post and photo above...if you are interested I can ask my friend if he wants to sell it.
  24. Hi there @jcamp. We have had a permanently installed insta-slalom for almost 15 years. Replaced the original poly mainline with a steel line about 5 years ago. The original line had stretched about 20 feet. Public lake with fair amount of jet skis, tubers and fishermen. We keep spare bouys, bouy lines and PVC arms "in stock". Main line held with heavier anchor on one side, lighter on the other. 55's are anchored separately. Maintenance is unpredictable, just a function of non-slalom activity in or around the course. This summer we have probably replaced a dozen bouys, 4-6 bouy lines and 3 broken PVC arms. And the 55's on one side (PVC/line/bouys). Obviously lots of non-slalom activity this summer... We let the course sink in the winter and "fish" it back up in the spring...west wind will put a bow on the course almost regardless of how tight we can get the mainline. 1 or 2 line tightening efforts during the summer is typical. About 12-15 ft depth. Best to you and family
