  1. Hey @Chef23 where do you live? LOL. We have been ice free for about a week and a half...will put docks/lift in as soon as i have some time. I believe several years ago we had a mid February ice out. Hope to see you soon
  2. @Jody_Seal, i replaced two Garmin pucks on a 2008 LXi summer 2014. (posted here previously). They were $139 at GPSCity at the time. I just checked and they still make this puck. Just to confirm your post above...as long as Garmin continues to make these, I assume no need to do the single puck conversion ($500-$750) you mentioned above. Am I correct? Thank you!
  3. My son had a grade 2 AC separation back in October (college soccer injury). Missed the remainder of the season and has been doing PT since. Playing again (just fun during offseason) but using a shoulder brace/protector on the advice of Ortho. Hey @Chef23, Christopher and Matt can keep a full time doctor in business...

    Zero off puck died

i just checked gpscity.com and it looks like they still have the Garmin pucks for $139...see my old post on my replacemnt of a couple of years ago Replaced the two pucks on my '08LXi this summer. Called ZO tech support. He told me the price of new pucks AND without my prompt said I should be able to find them for less money elsewhere. Gave me the part # GArmin GPS18x-5Hz. At that time, the cheapest I found was at www.gpscity.com...$139.95. Installed them and ZO system worked fine immediately.

  6. This is a post "dear to my heart"...born and raised in Lisbon but been in the US since 1970. Further in common with @andjules a little CA in me as I did my graduate work at McGill in the late 1970s. Of course I'm biased but Portugal does offer great overall vacation opportunity...history, entertainment, great beaches and yes some very nice places to ski...unfortunately I have only skied at one site there but truly...glad you enjoyed it...next time if you need a translator....
  7. legitimate debate about the "best " or safest method...however, regarding the cold antifreeze closing the thermostat...unless you're running hot water through the fake-o-lake, why would the cold antifreeze be any different than the cold water??? I have retrofitted a "T" before the raw water pump on my last 3 boats (same as, but more convenient than a fake-o-lake) and no problems over 20 years in the MA winters. I do agree that the manual draining and refilling is ultimately the surest way to be safe.
  8. Check out the thread "2005 MC 197 help..." similar symptoms. I copy my friend's post below. Good luck! "Thanks you all for the advice. After changing the in tank fuel filter, running 93 octane, knock sensor, water temp sensor, verifying transmission temp sensor for proper operation, and ruling out the oil pressure sensor, I was going over this with a friend and I asked, could it be a bad ECM? He said did you check the ECM ground? I put a 5/8 wrench on the 3 grounds on the bell housing. The one for the battery ground was good but the other two, that have grounds for the main harness, needed to be tightened. A couple of turns with the wrench and My problem went away! Lesson learned; I plan on checking these as part of my spring routine, to get my boat ready every year. I hope this post will help others. thanks again for the help"
  9. Thank you for your reply! Impeller is pretty new (~50 hours) but I have not looked at it yet. I'm in MA and boat will come out of the water soon, so i will check. i think a bad impeller would have the opposite effect ...overheat at idle. a friend of mine just told me in his 2013 ILMOR they relocated the temperature sensor
  10. I have a 2013 197 with the 5.7 ILMOR engine. About 240 hours (bought it with 210 hrs). 170 degree thermostat installed at around 180 hours. temperature gauge seems to fluctuate between as low as 130 to about 165. Is this normal? does it suggest that the thermostat stays open too long? Or a bad gauge or sensor? I'm glad it's not overheating but running too cool not good either. Any input from IlMOR owners much appreciated.

    MC 197's

Interesting discussion...obviously somewhat subjective, by nature. Here's my (also subjective) input. Just sold 2008 LXi ( Monsoon, 500hrs) that i had for 5 years and absolutely loved. Bought a 2013 197 (Ilmor, 200hrs) on which I have put about 20 hrs. Initial impression not too favorable...thought the wake was a bit bigger at 32/-22, liked the immediate throttle response of the LXi better...LXi slightly roomier (no question bow is bigger). 20 hours later the throttle is a non-issue (got used to it and it's just fine), wake also non-issue at 34/-22 and beyond (for me that 's only -32). Pull some skiers at 28-30/-15 mph and they tell me the wake is soft... Very happy with it. if someone put two similar hour/condition boats in front of me and i had to choose...probably the LXi...but not without much "head scratching"...
  12. I saw the running order with your name on it...then I looked at the scores and no @Than...I said to myself "Oh, what happened?"...now I know. Very sorry, but you and the family are well so that's most important!
  13. Thanks everyone again...mapped it today just like I had done my previous ZO Rev Q...I don't know how I misinterpreted the screen instructions having mapped several rev Q's in the past...blame it on my old age...thank and sorry for the silly question
  14. Thank you very much everyone. I am at a tournament today and I was told the same thing...entry and exit gates only....not sure why I got confused with the instructions. Will remap tomorrow. Thanks again!
  15. Just got a new boat (new to me) with ZO rev R...tried to map our course and realized the mapping procedure now requires all the gates, not just entry and exit as in my previous version (Q). It's a floating stainless steel mainline course mapped easily with a couple of boats with the Q version recently. tried multiple times from both ends and got the same msg each time "error too big" on the first segment. I have a hard tome believing the course if off and am wondering if the new procedure has any other options or trick to map the course. the ZO website does not address rev R (or at least i can't find it...). Any experience or ideas? Many tanks!
  16. What am I doing wrong? the screen is vertical and there's no skiing on the link above...
  17. @Than, good to see you Sunday...hope the injury is getting better!
  18. @Horton, sending best wishes on a speedy recovery

    2005 MC 197 help...

Also tried to pull him up with and the PP Stargazer system on and off. No sure it's relevant but thought I'd add that. Thanks
  21. Looking for help for a friend's 197 with Indmar MCX. Yesterday engine check came on and sent engine to limp mode...it happened twice when he was skiing. ..once he was back in the boat it ran fine...I assumed a random event with no relation to the skiing. Tonight I went out with him to witness it myself and was surprised with the symptoms. Boat ran fine to the slalom course (about 1 mile). He got in the water and I tried to get him up 3 times and engine check/limp mode came within less than 50 yds each time. He got back in the boat and it ran fine all the way home...looks like some load related sensor but I have no clue on what to even look at. He has no capability to connect it to a computer for diagnosis....any thoughts at all? Thank you
  22. Dear @LPskier... I ski on a Radar Vapor...if for no other reason, you should include me in your"skiing circles"...lol...looking forward to seeing you this summer.
  23. As a very happy to-date Fogman user (12+ years), this video seems very impressive to me. Of course i don't know about the set up (spring tension, etc.) but the release seems very effective and appropriate. Glad no injury. Good job OB4!
