  1. it's not HP it is torque.. the big boats with big engines have nearly 465 ft pounds of torque. that much torque does not allow for much skier impact like a 375 foot pound small block chebby.. I had this conversation last week with a very good slalom skier, I suggested running in practice mode and upping the speed a tick or two.. instead of 16.95 run 16.80..
  2. why not a run off for the bronze? my take on that one is just another score driven argument. truly does not represent best skiers of the day! schedule change? meh! going to have whinger's on either side of that, But then again the best skiers of the day prevailed . honestly though when you look at it in the big picture , the best men's slalom score of the event was ridden on a Radar! .... where can I order one??
  3. looking forward to the cooler season. rebuild season..
  4. Dad built it in 1965 , still own it today..
  5. starting on a 1995 Sport Nautique. complete strip down engine out, repower, the whole nine yards.. 6.0 non cat and series 80-123. ZO also. looking forward to taking a ride behind it.. Nostalgic!!
  6. I think we need to revive old school water skiing!! Hand driving events! very few of us left that drove with out speed control.. And still drive today.. Last time i skied hand driving was at Callaway Gardens running out the 61 SN Parade boat, Art Cozier Driving. 2012 maybe.. we put a solid hour on the boat that afternoon.
  7. back in the day when hand driving always a shock when you jump in to drive 35 mph jump and the promo fool unhooked his secondary diaphragm...
  8. I want see Horton do a video on disconnect of Holley secondaries!! or better yet installing the secondary cam and secondary diaphram that does not allow the secondaries to crash in..
  9. I have complete GT-40 for sale. running condition.. Add stargazer and Zbox you have the whole package for an EFI project.
  10. it's obvious this sport demographic wise has become a geriatric sport. deep water starts become more difficult as we age, ticks me off! more ticked off tonight, put one hell of a handle ding on the opposite edge of my senate missing a deep up this morning... arrg!!!!@@@ another reason not to buy a new stick!! just screw it up!!! I'll have another round of jb weld please, oh and a shot for the mental pain!!!
  11. i have a 750 hour 5.3/80 123 on ski it again now. would make a great repower in a bubble butt or pre 06 196. A new 6.0 bob tail non cat is in the $12k range now as well as a 80 transmission 123:1 pushing $4k
  12. nope! can't afford one on social security. new ski is two months mortgage payment! just going to ride the senate another season. it makes big spray and easy deep starts..
  13. lol! plenty of 196 plugs running around. a plug is what molds are made from.
  14. I think so. like it or not the inboard marine industry is in reality a off shoot of the automotive industry and we are like plumbers. with the decline of competitive water-skiing the new ski boat market is at an all time low. taking up production space for a low volume boat is not what a major builder will do when the bigger higher volume as well as profit margins boat can be built on its place. it would take a small builder like Sanger to produce and market a ski boat in the lower price range. they are not feeding the beast within..
  15. sitting on the floor right now is a new H6 raw water cooled pcm and transmission. right at $20k with shipping and tax.. 2.5 times cost is the common number in this industry as to how much the end user will be charged for a item. with that in mind. the boat companies have far better bying power for raw goods and materials. the same h6 to the boat manufacturer will be substantially less price wise maybe as much as $5k. so now go inventory the rest of the components and materials into the boat and one will find the cost going out the manufacturer door will be as much as 2.5 times less then what the end customer sale will be. so if a new boat is $135k divided by 2.5 equals $54K That the manufacturer has into the product before markup to the dealer. dealer cost on that boat now is close to $80k or more. dealer has to pay flooring (sometimes) as well as prep and a sales commission of 7-10% to the salesperson.. in the big picture with this somewhat Grey scenario one can see why it is far more profitable to build big boats vs small ski boats. some have said the waterski aspect of the boat industry should be lucky manufacturers are still building ski boats ...
  16. tournament: 36 mph men1&2 3@35off. 34mph men 3,4,5,6 3@35 off. 32 mph men 7 so far 1 @32 off "note" hip replacement recovery. Anyone can have a PB in practice.
  17. it will probably work well with that paint ball set up that fires balls out along side the boat for a skier to turn... I ask about product liability only because it is a needed question to be answered. so far like a politician under oath this question has been dodged!
  18. after looking at the next frame 1/4 buoy.... still need to be in whats considered a skiing position...
  19. want to be on the board of a different approach to competitive water-skiing?
  20. just looked online at a j craft.. I want one! wonder how they go around tight turn islands ?
  21. its because the Delorean speedo only went to 85mph.
