  1. @Horton it's not the drive that is the issue. it is the batteries and the impact they have on the environment, from the impact of digging and refining raw materials into a condensed battery pack to its final demise as to how they are then decommissioned. that technology is still very dirty. the drive motor part is easy.
  2. currently as I write sitting in a classroom environment at (PCM school) pleasurecraft engines manufacturering facility. like a kid in a candy store. sadly the overall trend is catalytic catalytic catalytic! so looking forward the availability of non cat components is going to wain within a short period of time. budget repowers are a thing of the past..
  3. I think the realization by society is that electric vehicles are not a one size fits all proposition. the realization that procurement of the resources to manufacture electric vehicles is far nastier to the environment then that of fossil fuel development. fad? maybe more like a social push by elites to capitalize and become more powerful. the marine industry capitalizes on what the auto industry has to offer for marinization. costly electric vehicle's mean costly electric propulsion for the marine industry.
  4. @Kelvin Towboat rules have changed. basically reads any previously certified towboat can be used in tournament provided it has the latest approved speed control(zo). the chief driver is responsible for the Crafts seaworthy aspects. in the last 4 years oldest boat I skied behind in a tournament was a 98 SN with a 5.7 Excalibur and a series 80 transmission. ski chaste has two owners that provide a 14 and 17 master craft for their events. we use a 17 and 08 200 and 196 for our events.
  5. I could be wrong but I don't think there is a world identified men 34/55 record. they have world tournament records. the jeff Rodgers score was the only identified record with AWSA that eclipsed the 10.25 line @ 34mph/55k.
  6. how to avoid injury!! stay out of these thing's
  7. over the years I have seen a number of skiers not avoid injury by just letting go of the handle. situation awareness seems to be void with slalom skiers. they just don't seem to know where or what is going on around them once the boat comes up to speed. core conditioning is key to minimize injury. skiers that constantly break at the waist and hang on and try to get to the other side. these skiers invite frequent flyers points. Kenny Rodgers said it best: know when to hold em, know when to fold em. know when to walk away, know when to run.....!
  8. last season was a take it easy season due to a bionic implant. going to ramp it up this season a bit. 32 mph sucks but it is what it is...
  9. safesport is the hemorrhoid of this organization.
  10. so you all know this is surfing.... trying to replicate that wave on a inland waterway is what is irresponsible by manufacturers as well as end users. Reap what you sew! VID_85420206_000807_757.mp4
  11. world games drops watersking in Lew of big wake sports...phfff!
  12. the answer to your poll is yes AWSA needs to reorganize, redefine and pull away from USAWS.. and in less than 20 words..
  13. took a rip sat at lake 38. air 70 something water 60 something..
  14. yes.. the 80 can be rebuilt. call Monday will get you squared away for more info.
  15. ok, going to make a change to my story. have the opportunity to ride a new 67" Lapoint. will update after it warms back up.
  16. yea bite the bullet and get a new series 80 123:1 for your boats engine application. I recommend skidim or nautiqueparts.com for your conversion. it can be a puzzle as their are really no good instructions as these kits are equipped to cover a wide range of either ford or Chevrolet application. disregard if you have a livorsi all electric throttle control. and yes the 80 can be rebuilt. however if it is Indeed electric shift be reminded a lot of those control's have been updated/ replaced to date.
  17. about like having a heavy tournament load all the time. the deal was 500 ft pounds of torque and big pitch prop the boat was real solid to pull on. kinda like what we ski with today. my son will tell you our 502 boat made him a better overall skier. the bubble butt ski Nautique was probably the most consistent across its build model cycle. there were no go into the mold and make "improvements"! probably the most wake friendly slalom boat ever. only complaints I ever heard were the deep shortline skiers commented that the 38 off 36 mph said the drop off on the wake cross was a bit of a shock.
  18. I like the overkill remarks, however the 6.2 engines that are prevalent in today's boats are rated close to that 502 .
  19. engine worth more then the boat.. great platform, I had one for a number of years. sold it into Alabama around 2004. 502 incredible beast.
