  1. @Wayne the Canadian boat, the JCRAFT has been revived and redesigned. It goes for around $84,000 Canadian...$70k USD or so.
  2. @Brewski Wow, look at how far to the left that horseshoe is mounted. Any insight?
  3. I think the story was that Rob Shirley had signed up a bunch of Mastercraft dealers that he knew, to carry the new boat. When Mastercraft got wind of it, they threatened to pull out of any dealers that went ahead with the Infinity. There was likely language in the dealership agreements preventing them from carrying a directly competitive line from another manufacturer. My understanding is that when Infinity lost most of its dealer channel, they were in a bad spot. Too bad, because given enough time and money, Rob Shirley might have really developed that center v-drive idea into something good.
  4. Funny story... A year or two after that boat came out, they didn't have a Canadian dealer or even a wholesaler. I got curious and asked what the price would be, and if they would sell a boat to me directly. So I sent an email to Rob Shirley enquiring. Much to my surprise, I got an email back from Rob saying not only would he sell me a boat, but offered to sell me the whole company. Wasn't something I was interested in at the time but I thought it was kind of cool. I noticed that Camille Duval has one.
  5. That's the smoothest that I've seen your off-side! Nice!
  6. An amazing accomplishment ?
  7. I don't know about your Nautique, but on my Mastercraft there is a main breaker on the back of the engine that will cause the same symptoms if it's tripped.
  8. Is Charlie Ross the youngest ever to run 39 off?
  9. Episode 10: Those old guys on Ballofspray..... B)
  10. I'm sorry to hear this. To his family, my deepest condolences. I didn't know Jim, but through the legendary stories of his strength and stamina and the testimony of his family and friends about what a man of character he was, well, he certainly was a man I knew of. Take care of yourselves @6balls, @RazorRoss3 and @SlalomSteve and rest in peace @Razorskier1.
  11. High end tournament skiers are going to be overwhelmingly using straight handles. I couldn't think of any pros who use a radius handle. I think it is a non-issue for young fit pro athletes. It is an issue for my tired worn out elbows.
  12. I think there are two things happening at the same time. First there are the physical things detailed by several people. Secondly, as the boat slows down, it gets harder to create speed and width. It's definitely safer, but in a way puts a big premium on technique.
  13. Video of TW on the D3 running 39 at 34mph. He is also running a rear toe loop. Super smooth! https://www.facebook.com/1288759576/posts/10224327066706148/
  14. Throw a whisper fin on any of them. Easiest fin to set up. Horton has a video where he set one up with tape measure and the lines inscribed on the fin.
  15. I don't think that anything comes of it. As many have noted, the activist investor only owns 5%. That said, I would consider a purchase by Brunswick corp to be a disaster for the brand. You could count on a reduction in quality. I don't think they have done much good for Sea Ray or Boston Whaler.

    D3 Ion

@jayski he is according to his dad...D3 Factory Team skier, Drew Ross
  18. Some say that the Wrapped ski, developed by Jodi Fisher is similar to the Fisher ski. They also say that the Fisher was based on the early Goodes. I don't know if it's the best choice, but it may be similar to what you liked in the past.
  19. @kurtis500 The Warp ski was made without a foam core. It was hollow. @Horton liked it. It was a very expensive ski and they could develop leaks sometimes which is obviously a problem.
  20. An interesting point to consider. The D3 Ion comes in two flexes. Regular and soft. There are a significant number of high end skiers on the soft version. At the Malibu open, Sean Hunter, Charlie Ross were on the Blue soft version. Also Nate skis on a soft with the red graphics. Freddie Winter was on the regular one. So, I wouldn't say that stiffness is king at all.
  21. @skibrain My son is about the same weight and got recommendations from several top D3 skiers to go with the 67" in the "S" (soft) version. The funny (and convincing) thing was that they all agreed on that combination.
  22. Someone just posted about getting one of these on one of the Mastercraft threads on Facebook....they look amazing. BTW, the automatic cover part can be fit on most other lifts, if you already have one. https://m.facebook.com/groups/1510325659228039?view=permalink&id=2554016461525615
