  1. @herseyj glad that worked out for you. You can get it pretty darn close, and once you do, it pulls real nice.
  2. @herseyj @scotchipman posted the top paragraph is stargazer. What you have to know is ball one setting shows up as ball 2 time ball 3 shows up as ball 4. For our 2 boats the ball one setting had to go up to about 20 and the ball 3 time down to around 15 ball 4 to exit around 18. On a smoothly skied pass the ball times should be within a thousandth or two.
  3. @gregy get your ball times right within a couple of thousanths ball to ball) than I'm betting you will like the z-box
  4. @Fam-man with all due respect to @DanE who actually got me on the right path to getting stargazer right, I haven't upgraded to z-box cause stargazer seems to pull very nice on both my boat and my ski partners boat 35 off skiers and although, I only get on Zero off a few times a year, the only difference I can feel is a faster gate with stargazer. My partner skis an occasional tournament and skis the same ball count and doesn't notice much difference. We are both on the lighter side (160 lbs) and that might count for something. I suspect z-box reacts much quicker and might be the difference for a heavier skier or puller.
  5. If you have the newest version of stargazer and assuming that the return spring, voltage, and servo tests are all good you have to modify the background settings to get proper ball times. If the ball times are off more than a couple of thousandths, it will ski like crap. Had to do this with 2 boats both are perfect now.
  6. It comes with inserts standard bindings HO etc.
  7. @ozski probably that coupled with the price. It really has to be one of the best skis out. My advice to anyone reading don't demo the REV unless your pretty sure your ready to part with 2 grand!
  8. Sounds much like the V-Type. Good review!
  9. I may have solved my problem. Goode Rev 6. Equaled my best on the HO VT on the first set! I know you always hear that but it's true. Very consistent for me so far only 4 sets in might just be the honeymoon but VERY comfortable to ski on, turns great and appears to be a lot more forgiving.
  10. @jhughes Great review. I just demoed a Rev. been on it 2 times. I have to agree with all you said minus the comparison to the Vapor. Coming of a HO V-type I have been struggling for a year trying to get consistent. Never ran up to my personal best on the HO. I equaled my best from the HO first set on the REV in some bad conditions. I have not met my lifetime PB but expect that to happen shortly. Running very consistently every set that I've been on it so far. (4 sets total) Think that Goode hit a home run with this ski. I'm pretty surprised I'm not hearing more about it.
  11. When setting up Stargazer background settings. Ball one time affects ball 2 so you raise it until ball 2 is on the money. Ball 3 affects ball 4 and you usually have to lower it to eliminate the run away. Ball 4 to exit look at ball 5 and six. This makes no sense to me and it was suggested to me via this site by @DanE. It works perfectly and as I said I have 2 boats on my lake that had to have these settings done. The boats are within a thousandth between each ball and end times are spot on. They ski real nice to. Give this a try it will work!
  12. @Lars try adjusting the background settings to 20-18-20 See if that makes an improvement if it does you will be very close to setting it up right. I have to boats that I put stargazer in on my lake. Both needed background settings adjusted. Lost almost a whole summer messing around with it. Very frustrating. Both are perfect now!
  13. @hemlock You mean reducing the ball 3 setting to 18. I would agree with you. The ball 0ne setting would typically go up as your is. (if I remember right it's 5 from the factory) Raise the ball one setting until ball two is right on the money. Reduce the ball 3 setting and the last as needed. That will do the trick.
  14. If the ball times are good your ok. The speed can climb pretty good during a pass especially if some one struggles.
  15. Look at the ball times with the down arrow. They should be within a couple of thousandths ball to ball. Any more than that It will be hard to ski behind and feel like crap. You have to play with background settings to get it right.
  16. @Horton I think you have to look at the target audience. The reality is I'm not a pro neither are the majority of potential ski buyers. I think the correct answer is what all the manufacturers are searching for. Problem is they design some great skis that are very well accepted by many skiers. As time goes by they go a bit flat. The ski you were riding is long gone. Now you have to search for a new ski with a different design that you can get along with. And all of this is almost by design because the name of the game of course is sell new skis! I hate to blame a ski for my short comings. This ski does some great things. (Sometimes)
  17. @Horton now your selling me a new ski! Honestly though from what I have heard everyone thinks the VTR is a better ski. It's hard to ride a ski that's very capable when you are, but seems to punish you a bit when your not. I am really looking for the automatic ski. Felt that way about the A-1 this one not so much....
  18. @Horton Yes its a 2015 V Type. I will try to make that a conscious effort. I think the onside hasn't been dependable for me. The off side is always there. I'm sure if I had more talent it wouldn't be a problem! Thanks for the suggestion!
  19. @wtrskior @LeonL Thanks guys for your input. I hate to blame a ski as there is plenty more I need to learn not looking for some magic improvement (though that would be nice) just can't be so hit and miss.
  20. @MS I can run beautiful passes on this ski. But I'm more hit a miss than ever before! I can't point to any one thing in particular onside has always been a bit fussy to come all the way around. When it does it's top shelf. Seems a bit more affected by wind and water conditions also.
  21. It's a 2015 Strange to me. It seems to have good speed tight turns good breaks but not all the time! Possibly small sweet spot that I don't always find.Just wondering if there have been skis that you guys have been on thinking that all was well but no consistency.
  22. For you guys that change skis often. I was on a HO A-1 for about 5 years and really liked that ski. Switched to HO V-Type and although it seems to do every thing better than the A-1 I have no consistency on it at all. Never did get up to my personal best either. Now I'm not getting any younger and don't change skis that often so for you guys that do, could it be the ski?
  23. Stargazer won't feel right unless you get it running within a couple of hundreds between balls every time. You have to go into the background settings and make changes. I've had to do it on 2 boats and they both run on the money now.
  24. Try getting on a steady diet of advill for a week. 3 times a day as long as your stomach can tolerate it. If your lucky you could be out of it in a week or two. If there is a rib broken 6 weeks it is. Doesn't really matter either way.
