  1. Installed the newest software in to my perfect pass last night. It's an improvement over the early version no doubt. The most noticeable thing is how quickly the boat settles. It had none of the symptoms of the version 8. No brutal spike at 2 no run away in the middle of the course. If this was the version that I first bought I would probably have skied it as is. That said, the ball times were much improved with my custom background numbers. My numbers give me ball times much more consistent, within a thousandth or 2. Factory numbers are skiable but ball times varied more all over the place with inconsistencies of 2-4 thousandths. So in short if you have inexperienced drivers or short setups it's worth the upgrade. In the end all versions are capable of the same results.
  2. I have a z-box with an early version 8. It runs great with modified background settings. I have the newest software coming. I'll post back to see if this can run right "out of the box" I have my doubts but most agree on quicker lock for short setups and that will be worth something to me if nothing else.
  3. @DanE Have you by chance upgraded to newer software? If so did you find it worked any better as far as ball times right out of the box?
  4. Well it's not all that simple. There is no way to lose 30lbs of fat without losing some muscle with it unless it were done very slowly along with hard strength training.(and depending on your age this would take a very long time) So if you lose 30lbs on some sort of a quick diet I would say 6 buoys would not be to practical. If there was some way to lose 30 lbs of fat alone I'd guess you would have a shot at 6.
  5. @keithh2oskier You need to do the background settings. Z-Box helps tighten up tolerances but if stargazer needs to be right. It's a good place to start. The boat starts timing at the gate, the first time interval is one ball it looks at the time and makes a correction. If you are getting a surge at 2 ball that tells you that 1 ball was slow and the correction shows up at 2 ball. This means the 1 ball setting needs to go up. It is counter intuitive in my mind but that is how it works. The perfect pass people won't explain it this way. So 1 ball adjust affects what you "feel"at 2 and so on. Start with 2 ball and get the time right and go from there.
  6. @escmanaze what do you mean by "makes the pull feel worse" ? You prefer the stargazer pull? How about the zero off pull?
  7. If you have the money get the stargazer with zbox. Your friend will think it’s acceptable and you will be able to learn a system that is close to what most are skiing behind. If you go skiing somewhere else chances are it will be a zo boat least you will be close to comfortable with it.
  8. @horton in all the videos I've seen you in you always seem to have a better off-side turn. This seems like the onside turn is very strong. Seems like a nice place to be if you looking for a ski to improve your skiing. I have to think with some time, maybe a fin adjustment they could get evened out. Am I seeing this wrong? This is not a criticism at all! I also seem to have more trouble with onside. I would feel like this ski could offer something that others don't seem to.
  9. Looks like a stronger onside turn from what I've seen in the past.
  10. @Chad_Scott Is there any written material describing the differences in feel what type skier they might be best suited for between the 3 models that you know of ?
  11. Manon has only ever done a bit of promo with the gtr. Her ski is the gt. Up to you if you think they make her something special.
  12. Does Wade Cox do any skiing at this point?
  13. Get the 3 event run it in practice mode you will have GPS and no magnet timing and you won't have to change is as the addiction grows!
  14. I feel like an easier way to look at it is through body fat. If you can get your body fat to around 10% your strength to weight ratio should be very good. Most find that they need to add muscle to achieve a reasonable weight at 10%. That is a good goal though.
  15. @Horton That's the bottom line! Only the fortunate few can participate.
  16. I think mental focus is a huge part of waterskiing. At your home lake with a typical boat and driver you can focus easily at the task at hand. Change those variables and suddenly the mind has other things to obsess with. Not a good thing. The best competitors are able to tune the differences out and focus at the task at hand. Not a strong point for me personally at all!
  17. It's too expensive on the whole to ever get very popular. End of story! For you people that think that isn't true you take your income for granted.
  18. Any diet that can not supply the proper caloric intake and reasonable macro split on a daily basis forever is useless. Not everyone can follow Keto or vegetarians. It takes a big commitment and frankly both are slightly outside the box of American culture. If you can, you will get good and healthy results. What is most healthy is finding out the "correct" way to eat and maintaining it forever. That means you will have to be able to enjoy what you eat and fit it in to all of your life situations. That will be the best and most healthy for You.
  19. @Luzz I think those are good rules to start with. How low you want your body fat to be will really dictate what you need to do. The lower you want the body fat to be the more accountable you will need to be. It's not as mysterious as everyone makes it. It does take a bit of discipline. That seems to be the hard part for most.
  20. What is good for skiing is great strength to weight ratio. That translates to low body fat. Use whatever style of eating that will get you there and is sustainable. There is no one size fits all. Many approaches that work. Sustainable is something that can be done day in and day out forever.
  21. @EFW if that screen shot is typical you have some background work to do.
  22. The statement from Safesport sounds like a but covering move to me. The punishment was handed out recently, but because the crime was committed in 2012 (which victim age wise make it a bit more sickening) we go by the codes that were in place than. Oh well best we can do. Give me a break!
  23. Personally I think it should remain at the top of the page. Most folks in the know have known about this for a long time. For the ones who haven’t heard it’s front and center. Maybe those are the people that can force the hand that would properly acknowledge it and deal with it.
  24. z-box definitely tightens up the speed at all phases of the course. That said it doesn't make it into something it isn't. It not going to respond like ZO but it will help your situation. Make sure your throttle return spring is working the way it should if your using a servo. The servo does take a bit of extra time.
  25. It does "help" but if you look at the ball times ball 1 (which is actually ball 2) is usually hot still. Kind of a tough thing for a lff skier.
