  1. The updated version of finDB is available on Android today...hopefully IOS will be approved for release by Apple later today. finDB on Google Play finDB on iTunes This version allows you to not only select skis, but save custom settings for those skis and keeps logs of your complete fin/binding change history. After logging in, it will take you through a quick 'wizard' for how you measure your setup. This can be changed at any time in your profile settings. Account creation is required. The system will send you an email when you register, but the email relay is fairly slow...usually a few minutes to get the confirmation of registration before you can log in. I've done very little testing on Android, so please PM me with any issues you have and I'll try to get them resolved ASAP. A few screenshots below.
  2. I have all the testers I need. Thanks for the help.
  3. That is the next version and the work is mostly done. Will be testing this week with possible release in a week or two. Paul
  4. Looking for some testers for the next version of the app release. IOS version Android version Ideally, you are tech savvy, like to break things, and can document the steps you observed to break it. IOS users will need to have an AppleID and download an App called 'Test Flight' to receive the test package file. Android users will not need any special software, but would like them to be on the most current version of Android OS. you will receive the test package file via email. The next versions features include: Account based Profile/settings Add ski's to your list Save fin settings per ski View fin history per ski View custom/stock difference PM me if interested. Thanks for the help, Paul
  5. Added some additional skis from @KRoundy ...thanks for those. We have over 400 combinations now. There's a few obvious ones that are missing (like Radar Vapor 2015/16), so will try to get the data in the next few days.
  6. @Mark_Matis , I believe Chad and Becky put the plastic chains on a few years ago. However, with the help of the Clemson water ski team, we converted all 26 buoys to shock tube this spring. With the fluctuating water levels, no one was adjusting the course, so the shock tube should help this a bit.
  7. @escmanaze , @KRoundy may be getting me those settings...hopefully will update soon. @Alberto Soares , should be available in Brazil now...if not, give it a few more hours to update in the system.
  8. Updated with how manufacturers measure their settings. Many do not document how they measure on their website, so I'll try to contact them directly to get their method. I also added many older D3 models. Thanks to @Shortenit for pointing out an error in one of the D3 settings (older/revised setting). @drmwheldy , if you can get the Jobe settings, send them my way...I couldn't find them. Thanks to @SkiJay for letting me know it was not available in Canada for Android...it is now available there as well.
  9. @"Keith Menard" , not anytime soon, but possibly in the future. In my research a few companies have one of the team members settings as recommended, such as Connelly and Goode. There may be limited value there, but I think it's highly dependent on your skill level to get value out of 'professional' level settings. I think more value would come from knowing other skiers settings in your skill range. Working on that one now.
  10. @jcmccavit , no plans to offer a browser based version of it at this time.
  11. @gsm_peter , I'll open it up to Sweden on the next release. @"Mateo Vargas" , certainly possibly, but not where I want to spend my time developing the app at this time. I would need to get permission from the manufacturers to do so.
  12. Mobile app for stock ski settings for many of the more popular ski's. If you have data not in my list, please sent to me and I'll add as long as I can confirm the data is accurate with the manufacturer. iTunes Store for Apple Google Play for Android The next release will have details on how the manufacturers measure the settings, however, some do not document this...according to their website. Also, let me know of any bugs/inaccuracies you may find. Thanks, Paul
  13. I'll be there. 33 skiers on the list. David Miller showing as top seed. Going to be a warm weekend in South Florida.
  14. @Drago , because it's possible to slide down course with the ski 90 degrees to the boat and not move laterally/cross course. Honestly, I put the 'assuming' part in there so someone wouldn't reference side sliding. I'm not saying the ski doesn't slide down course in slalom, I'm just saying it's not controllable near 90 degrees when the goal is to move cross course. In my experiences skiing, I've moved towards the idea that there's an ideal line/angle for all skiers, although they may not be the same for each of us. And if I don't set the angle correct out of the turn, I'd much rather under turn than over turn at the shorter line lengths. I can ski with a lot of angle out of the buoy, but I tend to ski better with somewhat less angle but more body control, so my working theory is technique and control over excessive angle.
  15. Assuming zero down course sliding, physics says this isn't humanly possible with a tight line. I agree with @SkiJay . Wouldn't you want to come out of the turn with the exact angle that you want to go across the wakes? Isn't that the most efficient? And if you don't set the correct angle, I think you're better off coming out of the turn slightly under turning versus over turning.
  16. Well before the 70's, but here are a few: 1956 & 1958
  17. As many have said they are fine if you do them correctly. Problem is, they are two very technical movements. It's a skill that needs to be practiced before pushing passed ~50% max. I've read studies that state, even when done correctly, the spine still gets compressed during squats, and you should decompress afterward. Also, some people aren't built for some exercises. For instance, if you don't have good ankle flexion, barbell back squats will be more difficult. Some good alternatives that greatly limit spinal compression: Single Leg Deadlift Dumbell Rear Lunge (elevate rear foot to make more difficult)
  18. My experience was forward 1/4-3/8". I switched from double hardshells several years ago and went to a rear kick in. I attributed this move due to the rear upper cuff applying more forward pressure. Surprising by how much of a difference it was. When I initially put the RTP on, I didn't move the boots forward and the ski felt considerably faster.
  19. For the purposes of having these onDemand tournaments, it didn't make any logical sense to me as to why this would count as a sanctioned score. It goes against all the basic rules of competition and trying to apply as level a playing field as possible to skiers. Practice is not Class C, is not Class ELR. They are different and and each applies additional rigors to ensure the scores are as accurate as possible according to the rulebook. With that said, I do like the approach @elr laid out. In general, I can see that working without interfering with the existing process and how the handicapped league can play into the rankings list league at seeded tournaments...good thinking. @ToddL , regarding API's to access data, Mark Crone did develop a Membership web service to access public member data for the purposes of validating USAWS Membership ID's that returns XML data. I use the service for new/joining members of our club (since USAWS is required) and to validate that existing members have current/active USAWS accounts on a yearly basis. We did discuss other services such as scoring, tournament, and rankings services. Mark thinks they would be great to have, but their time/budget is limited. He volunteers much of his time to do this work. I could use a rankings list service in a mobile web app I have currently. I think this is something that USAWS should look at developing more of. As you said, it will encourage developers to build programs to engage its user base...always a good thing.

  21. By zero day notice, I'm assuming submitting the sanction the same day as the tournament. So if you submit a tournament sanction on Sunday, would you expect USAWS to sanction it? I expect they would have some due diligence to perform to validate the sanction such as validation of officials. If you had a tournament and charged skiers money for it, and USAWS did not sanction it because you have invalid officials, would that be fair to the skiers to not get a rankings list score for the tournament? I realize that there are some software systems in place to validate some of this, but eye balls should be involved to some degree. Also, if you can't plan a tournament at least a few days in advance, how would they have any confidence you're planning a legit event? They are the ones providing the coverage for the event, so they need to be give some deference. I think a more reasonable question would be what is acceptable in terms of advance notice. Ideally it would be much shorter, but I don't know what goes into that process. The late fee's issue is a separate topic.

  23. We have a live feed for air, water, wind, wind direction that's updated every 3-5 seconds in a mobile app. Also has a list of all club events and ability to join the club. Apple devices: iTunes Link Android devices: Google Play Link or Website Link
