  1. In addition to RWSC and Peace, Love, and Waterskiing, Sparta, Virginia is also less than an hour north of Richmond. There are 4 private ski lakes within about 5 miles of each other and is where most tournaments are held. Great people up there and I'm sure would be willing to take guests. Here are two of them: TimberLake Lake Holly Good luck.
  2. Okeeheelee has a new attraction that should be fun for the kids: Shark Wake Park. We've been told the cable wake park will be completed over the winter. The inflatables are already in operation.
  3. @skibrain , when you login, you can add as many ski's as you want and view the stock settings by selecting them, and then selecting the 'Stock' link. The better option for just viewing stock settings is to select the button on the bottom of the login screen (out of session) labeled "Find Stock Ski Settings". You can look any ski up and save them for quick access. These settings are stored locally on your phone, so when you update your version of finDB, it may or may not save those between version. That depends on your phone. I just released version 2.0.9 which will accommodate multiple stock fin settings, such as the settings published by Radar for the 2018 Radar Vapor. Hope that helps. Paul
  4. @tjm, The finDB app has stock settings for all skis from the past several years: finDB for IOS finDB for Android
  5. @Bill22 , notes are added with the pencil/paper icon in the upper right corner. Notes are saved for the current settings only and all notes for all previous settings are in "Setup History" for each saved setting. V 2.0.7 will also show the notes for the current settings on the landing page (My Setup) , thanks to a suggestion from @customski . Previous setting notes are accessed through selecting "Settings >" or "Setup History" in the menu. Here is a screenshot of 2.0.7 (currently available for Android. IOS should be later today)
  6. @customski , those are both bugs that will be resolved in the next release in a few days. However, a workaround to add a second ski, is to log out and log back in. Denali is actually in the database, but they do not have stock settings, so it will not show up when out of session/not logged in, but should show up when in session/logged in (current bug). There are a few other bugs I found this morning that I've fixed. The Android version is available ( version 2.0.6 ), but the IOS version is still being reviewed by Apple. Will likely be available tonight/tomorrow. Version 2x was a major update, so you may find a few more issues. Please report when you do. Thx. Paul
  7. The only mobile app providing all stock settings for high end water skis with the ability to save your custom ski settings for an unlimited number of skis. finDB version 2 is available: IOS on iTunes Android on Google Play Mostly performance updates for increased speed, but here's the list from the change log: Speed SmartList for ski selectionAdd brand logosMore responsive and robust email service.Consolidate service calls to increase speedUpgrade client framework to F7 version 2Update cordova API's As always, please let me know if you have any issues. Thx. Paul Santangelo
  8. Version 2.0 of finDB should be out soon. No promises, but what would the minimum amount of useful information in a 'ski set tracker' look like?
  9. I've been told the new Nautiques will be released in June and will be used at the Masters.
  10. The link is here. The colon was missed in the protocol so it didn't resolve.
  11. Looks great and functioned well for me. Thanks for pulling it all together.
  12. @skimtb , Hobe Lake Ski Club is about 45 minutes north. Membership is required but guest membership fee is $0. You can join here.
  13. 69 at Okee yesterday...one more day of warm weather, then back down hill.
  14. @blakeyates , they have a 'guest' account which allows 4 sets per year. This is for skiers that drop in town and just want to ski a few times and won't be permanent members. Otherwise, you can join as a 'limited' member for $100 per year. All coordination is done online for joining, signing release waivers, scheduling ski sets, and payment for ski sets and annual dues. Here are the membership types.
  15. @JAS nothing, but can't be used in AWSA tournament skiing per rule 8.03 C. Fins must be fixed.
  16. Just skied 1.5@39 up the rope with these settings: 29.5625, 6.911 tips, 2.504 flat, .795 flat, 7' Felt better, so I'll stick with these settings for a while. My 6th 38 on this ski in the past 2 weeks. Only ran 2 in practice the rest of the year, so this is very good for me.
  17. @skibrain , 5'-11 @ 162lbs. 34.2 mph. I've ridden a 67" for the past 6 years at this weight, and since the skis are getting wider in the forebody, I though't I'd try 66". It was fine, but I like the oversized ski still. @Ed_Johnson , that's what I've heard too. I typically don't shorten the rope much in practice, but wanted to see what this ski can do. Needless to say, I'm buying.
  18. Had THE best set of my life this past weekend on the NRG. I've been demoing both the 66 and 67. I've never tried deep/short settings before. When I was riding the 66 after several adjustments, I went to deep/short and skied better than the other settings that were closer to shallow/long than anything else and is typical for what I've always ridden. Went back to the 67 with the previous long/shallow settings and skied a set, then decided to try the deep/short on it. I tied my practice and tournament PB (3@39) which I've only done 3 times in my life, running back to back 38's (head/tail) in the process. The thing was, I actually didn't ski very well. It wasn't pretty. The ski was just always there at the end of the turn, pointing in the right direction, allowing me to go to the other side. Patience really paid off. FWIW, here are the settings I tried. I plan to adjust again today and see if I can smooth things out: 29.5625, 6.893 tips, 2.5 flat, .795 flat, 7'
  19. @LeonL , I set up finDB to accept 1/16 increments for bindings, thus 4 decimal places.
  20. @ballsohard , 29.5625 on both ARC-S and NRG, but tempted to move it back an 1/8". I have front Reflex with modified rear kick-in.
  21. @skibrain , I've ridden the 67 ARC S for a year and have been on the NRG for a few weeks now. If there is one distinguishing trait I felt immediately was the finish of the offside turn was more stable and carried inbound more/easier than the ARC. The ARC was already very good at this and I had no issues with it, but the NRG was noticeably better. I had another person coming from a Q45 that said the same thing without being prompted. I didn't notice any change in speed cross course. Speed is sufficient. It's overall stability is classic D3 and easily rideable by all allowing mistakes without punishment. When I get a new D3, I typically set it up exactly like the ski I'm currently on and it's generally pretty close. This was not the case with the NRG. Very different settings and I'm still making minor adjustments. BTW, 67 ARC S for sale.
  22. Yeah, they are good. We bought about 160 of them. Well worth the money.
  23. @skibug , I usually don't get out during the weekday either. November-April there are usually many boats there all day and you can usually walk over the hill and ask someone for a ski ride. My boat partner should be there but tends to leave around 1/1:30 . He will have guests in town skiing with him next week so may be there a bit longer. I'll check and see what his plans are.
  24. @dchristman , I do have the data, but it can be taken out of context for many reasons, but sharing the data, is part of my eventual goal with the app. There is not enough data, or more importantly, segmentation by criteria, to really read anything into it. For instance, I would never compare a setting of the same brand, model, and length of a ski to someone who is riding double hardshells with someone that is riding rubber and a toe plate. My experience says these two settings should be very different. With that said, I took a sample snapshot of the most popular ski in the system for a specific length (67) and here are the results. This is the difference FROM STOCK: Front Binding: .221 forward of stock Fin Length: .003 less than stock Fin Depth: .001 more than stock Fin DFT: .002 forward of stock Wind Angle: .74 degrees less than stock I do have an opinion on what this means, but this is not very valuable data to any one user, simply because I don't have enough criteria to segment it. Ideally, all the users would fill out their user profiles so I can user their ability level to condition the data with like skiers. I didn't require this data to use the app, but it will be required for users to input this data in order to search data in the future. So there's more work to do with finDB to get to this point. I hope to do some of it over the winter and offer useful data to users in the spring/summer of 2018.
  25. @LeonL , I don't know the answer to that but I assumed the same as @JackQ ... maintenance reasons. I don't have a full history of the actual changes, just conversations with Centurion every year I got a new boat and it drove better. Some of the later changes were slight changes in weight distribution/engine location that improved tracking. I have theories as to why some boats drive well and some don't and it goes back to a balance of tension in the hull/running gear. Generally if a boat is perfectly symmetrical in the hull and running gear, it would not drive well. But if there is some amount of tension due to a tracking fin offset/angled or favorable warping on one side of the hull, then I think it could make for a better driving boat. I'm a software guy, not an engineer, so take it for what it's worth, but it helps with possible explanations as to why same year boats can drive so differently, even with similar rudder torque.
