  1. I made the switch to RTP last year and it frustrated me to the point I haven't really enjoyed skiing as much as I was. Prior to the switch, I was skiing the best passes of my life. I switched to avoid needing hip surgery since double booted starts were tearing up my back hip... but I'm almost to the point of going under the knife so I can go back to double boots. :(
  2. Because that would require them to climb down from their towers and address the commoners. The Nautique fanbois all seem to be cool with this decision though. Like the cheering crowd at the end of the last season of "The Boys..."
  3. I'm running Boas from 2016 on my goof-around wide-ride ski and still good as new. Plus, I believe they are warrantied for life BICBW. I've heard of guys getting replacements for older boots for free. I've had loads of these things on various bindings and gloves over the years without a single failure. I'm confident in them, personally.
  4. That's awesome, and that era Malibu Response is easily top 5 best looking tournament boat all time. Love to see guys skiing into 41 behind the classics
  5. flown on UA with my ski dozens of times. Just tell them it's skis and they send them right through. Just counts as one of your checked bags. And keep it under 50 lbs.
  6. Does that model have an Ignition Control Module? On a Vortec-based Indmar, that'd be the first place I'd look. Then check fuel pressure is within spec. Then coil.
  7. I agree with @1skinut I am not a great skier by any means, but I don't even bother with 15 off anymore. Too slow, too much rope, and I'm too fat. The geometry of shorter lines really helps us bigger guys accelerate and keep moving. I start at 22/32. As for free skiing at 32 off, 34 MPH, if you're taking video of yourself and are using that to correct and work on things like stack, hips over ankles, staying connected off the second wake, etc, I don't see why it'd hurt you. If you're just out there reinforcing bad habits, that's a different story.
  8. Has anyone ever tried splattering these things with 303 protectant before putting them in for the season? Wonder if that would prevent or curtail the UV damage.
  9. '06 was the first year for TBW on the Malibu Indmars. That's why I told him he'd find downgrades complicated above. :)
  10. Didn't realize Hydrophase had a solution for TBW boats. That's cool if they're in that game now.
  11. Would RPM mode work for trick skiing? That's available on SG 3 event. I know my paddlewheel is still hooked up too, so there might be a way to get it to use that, but for now it's basically just a glorified water temp sensor when PP is switched off.
  12. I saw that boat for sale. Beautiful RLXi! That's the first year of throttle by wire. That may complicate things a bit in terms of master module, software compatibility, etc.
  13. There were a few of these that had the Pro Build core in a Lithium tuxedo. My 2016 was a late-in-the-year build and Eddie laid it up with the new core. Didn't tell me what was in it until after they released the 2017 models. So you MIGHT have a 2016 with the PMI core, but probably not.
  14. she's been doing that same routine for a LONG time with her students. I was down there 20 years ago and remember that routine, though I think we did it on the dock
  15. Does it have a serpentine belt or the V belt? I missed the year. GM makes it easier. Is it this equivalent? https://www.dbelectrical.com/products/alternator-for-7si-marine-applications-ir-if-12-volt-100-amp.html As I mentioned, I have a 70A rated alternator for my Indmar that actually puts out 95A with the V pulley. I've been happy with their stuff.
  16. I upgraded the alternator on my Indmar Monsoon with one from DB Electrical a few years ago for like 60 bucks. Much better output from the new one and still going strong. Not sure if they have one for the Ford PCM but worth a look. That said, their prices have climbed considerably in the last 2 years or so. That same alternator is $110 now.
  17. are you a course beginner? Senate will let you slow the boat down more if you're just starting out with the buoys.
  18. Props to the TWBC crew. That was a LONG weekend of work for those guys, and the production value has gotten to be incredible. I LOVE the combination of drone and in the boat shots. Only thing I'd request is to leave the skier name on the screen at all times. When tuning in and out, you're most likely going to catch it while a skier is resting, the replay is running, etc. Also helps if pausing, fast forwarding, or trying to catch up later by moving to a different point in the broadcast.
  19. I suspect, given your level of skiing acumen, that skis made in the last 5 years, even high-end performance skis, will feel easier on your body than what you're used to. I'd recommend a Radar Vapor that's perhaps a bit big for your size, say a 68" ski. That, or a 67" Senate, which is 2/10" wider than the Vapor and is capable of going deep into the course at 34 MPH but is an easy ski to ride well in open water. This is what I ski on at 250 lbs (69" Senate Pro) at 34 MPH. It supports me just fine, and has gotten me into the green loop on the course, though 9/10 of my skiing is open water. Edit: don't be afraid of "wide ride" skis. These aren't like the Connelly Big Daddys of old. Even my "goof around" ski is a really wide Radar Terrain, and that thing is a blast in the course at lower speeds. My Senate is technically a "wide" ski and it has the exact same rockers, bevels, etc as the Vapor, just a tad wider for more support and better speed through the turns at speeds below 36.
  20. For as often as this question comes up on this forum, and as often as this boat is the answer, I feel like there should be a sticky link to OnlyInboards and SIA Sunsetter LXi search URLs... :) @Justinspaff if you're interested in this particular Phoenix boat, I could go take a look at it for you. It's about 30 mins from me.
  21. I was finding that the release would slide off the back of my boot a bit too easily with the wishbone mounted in the specified holes in the G10 plate. I moved the wishbone mount forward one hole on the plate, then moved the wishbone to the rear of the two holes on the mount. (so instead of having the mounts in the "size 13" hole, it's in the "size 12" hole on the plate, for my size 13 boots). Boot is nice and tight now with some successful dock tests and way more force required to slide it off the back lip of the boot. YMMV but that worked for me.
  22. The 1998 is on top in the previous pic. The 2000 is on bottom. In 2002, they started calling it the CDX and the flames were red and silver, with the CDX lettering centered on the ski, in black IIRC. Post a picture of your ebay version.
  23. TXI will have a better slalom wake, and as you said, with wedge, is pretty versatile. But it's a tournament inboard. It's not a good boat to have kids bringing friends, not a great surf boat. VTX will be a MUCH better boat for your needs, even though they're harder to find. Unless you don't mind an older boat and doing a little bit of work keeping it fresh and minty. In that case, you can't beat the Malibu Sunsetter LXi, but these boats are 20 years old now... Really sucks nobody ever made a DD boat that versatile since then.
  24. That video is wild. "Stand with your weight back, tip high...etc" Most of the time the water is breaking near the skier's back foot. The CDX was a great ski for tail turners. I rode one in my formative years. Wonder if that is in small part why I have such a hard time riding my front foot like modern skis prefer.
  25. Not to derail the thread, but I love the Rose Bowl and all it USED to stand for back when my Badgers were winning them regularly. But the CFP has devalued it so much, it's not even broadcast over the air anymore. Masters waterski is kindof like that. As a fan, there are more interesting events IMO. Swiss, Travers, Bu Open, Lake 38, Jollyski, all more interesting as a fan.
