  1. "banana peels"!! Now that brings back memories!
  2. Well that sucks:(
  3. "popular activity, but small sport". Summed up perfectly! Great vid!
  4. FWIW...My brother's 2012 (5.7) has cats and it was delivered in October 2011, with an August '11 order date. The change to cats must've been fairly early for 2012's.
  5. I don't want to speak out of turn, so someone may be able to confirm or correct, but I remember reading that swapping a steering cable would be extremely hard on the Bryant version. Had something to do limited access to the tiller if I recall correctly?
  6. I agree, it'll have to be an NBA tall guy to run it. A Manute Bol tall guy may have an easier shot at 7'7".
  7. Do you know how long the boat has been in stock? The longer the better obviously.
  8. Wait until next year when it's still sitting there, then shoot them an offer. That's how I practically stole my '15 Prostar from a dealer. But if you put in an offer now, shoot for 25% off MSRP + the government's vig.
  9. 😬 I can't on board without seeing that color in person. The boat is no doubt awesome though.
  10. I agree on the college thing as not being the solution. At least here in WI, waterski shows are the best avenue to grow towed sports. Perhaps not tournament slalom, but ski shows demonstrate all that can be done behind a boat, and there are always a crap ton of people watching...in WI anyway.
  11. I use a Vector feather frame, and have a similar size foot as you. It's perfect for me...comfy and my foot doesn't slide around at all. I quit double boots after a severe sprain going OTF with Goode Power Shells and never looked back.
  12. Once I see the boat spray cover the gate ball, I pull. But then, my gates are no benchmark of excellence.
  13. So mind blowing that I paid a hair less for my '06 brand new. But that's the market, take what you can get!
  14. Went for a dinner cruise on our river here in northwestern WI last night, and saw a guy slalom skiing behind a Response and another guy tricking behind a Tige. All is not lost:)
  15. FWIW I had a 196 steering cable go from butter to locked up tight in seconds. Typically you feel them start to get tight, but it is possible they just go out on you.
  16. 3 event was big back when you had companies like Coors, MC, etc tossing large sums of money at it to create a spectacle (Pro Tour) to sell their products. With wake sports now being their bread and butter, there's no point in investing marketing dollars in events like that. I'd venture a bet that BOS is MC's most productive ad spend for selling Prostars now. Look on the bright side, the hay day may be gone but the waterski gear has never been better.
  17. I never had an issue, but I'll grab the factory cover if I know bad weather is coming.
  18. I once bought a cheap cover from Walmart to drape over the boat while under the lift canopy. I bought an over-sized one, so it was easy to put on and pull off and covered to the waterline. Basically just to keep pollen, sun and mayflies off the boat when I didn't feel like putting on the factory cover. Worked just fine.
  19. I had a Radius back in the 80's and loved it at the time. It was a huge step up from the Jobe Carbon V I rode prior. I still have the Radius but it's of course retired. They were high-end skis back in the day.

    Steering Cable

I had a cable suddenly go ultra stiff on me while skiing, albeit open water not a course. Wasn't fun but I made it home. Those older MC trailer bow bar things were awful!!
  21. Old boats are awesome, and old Vettes are pretty cool. But for me, I need a mid-engine in my sports cars and ski boats:)
  22. That's a good question. I'd say most on the lots, if you can find them, will be $100k+. If you're patient, you can order one at MSRP, but it'll be a 9-12mo wait on average. I'll sell you mine for $80k and I won't put a mile on it, how's that for a deal! 😉
  23. I've always used the same correlation as well. Ironically, on Friday I was able to nab a C8 going into build shortly through a dealer acquaintance (original buyer backed out). Paid MSRP of $69.6k, 1LT will all the options I care to have. I haven't put pencil to paper lately, but is it possible to get a boat anywhere near this price, without being a promo/demo?
  24. We purchased new boats every year for well over a decade, but my '15 Prostar was and will be my last one (which I sold). Myself and friends like me were religious boat buyers, but are all out of the market now. I'm not saying new boats aren't worth the price with materials and labor, it's just they don't do anything that the current '12 200 I ski behind can't. Good heavens, look what that SAME hull costs today. I'm just done and have moved on to buying other things that bring me enjoyment.
