  1. It used to be the ProStar would sit tucked in between the fenders of the trailer, 2001 model year included. The 2014+ is wider and has to sit above the fenders to still keep the trailer a legal width. So you could certainly modify an older trailer for the boat to sit above the fenders like the new ones, but I'd bet it's cheaper and easier to widen the garage door.
  2. They have serial numbers...any chance he has the number on record and proof it's his? I must say showing up at someone's house to "purchase" known stolen items is sure a good time. It wasn't necessarily stolen at the time if they sincerely just found it, but depriving someone of their property (now that they now or will find out it's your brother's) certainly constitutes theft.
  3. That's not even the water line, is it? And you don't leave it in the water I'm assuming anyway? Does it wrap around to the underside of the hull too?
  4. How about one where it’s not rising or setting....
  5. How about some more video of it in action? Certainly you have some more you could share?
  6. Went last Friday here in NW Illinois, and will go again tomorrow and one of the weekend days. I really need to move to a warmer climate.
  7. Last evening after tearing up the 46 degree glass. One of my son’s friends wanted to try cold water skiing with us, but he only made it about 1/2 mile before his forehead got too cold. LOL That’s the moon rising by the way.
  8. Seeing the news clip @TallSkinnyGuy posted reminded me of a news story after nationals about my next door neighbor and #1 skiing buddy, Bruce Kunde. As you can imagine, it's not just skiing that he is passionate about, it's life in general. His attitude is truly inspiring. https://wrex.com/2020/09/02/water-ski-grandpa-continues-to-break-records/
  9. Back in high school my first car had SKIKDR 1 in honor of my beloved Kidder Redline.
  10. I was able to go again Sunday, and ended up slowing down even more to 17.5 mph and still plenty fast enough to be comfortable. I also shortened the rope another 3 feet, though this was behind my buddy's 2012 TXi instead of my 1998 Echelon, so that's yet another variable. My limited toe turns were fine, but I did notice it tracked a little differently then I'm used to with the rope on my foot, so that'll take some getting used to. Could be the binding placement, but I'm running out of warm water to change things up too much.
  11. I went out again last night, but after a couple sets of slalom. I again didn't have a tripper so no toe trick attempts. Sorry, nothing really more to add at this point other than it's a keeper. I spent last night just riding around doing surface spins and jumps continuing to get acclimated to the ski. It definitely spins much easier (surface stuff) than my old ski. My old school 160 pound friend on a 43" ski was joking how silly such a big ski is, and I told him he's clearly never tricked on a "normal" sized tricker at 235ish pounds. I finally feel like everybody else looks having a proportionately sized trick ski.
  12. @disland Slowing down widens the wake and table, so to remain in about the same spot I'm used to in the table means a shorter rope.
  13. Something I forgot to touch on was the overall effort to simply ski is much less. Thinking back I went 8 or 9 miles and didn’t stop because I was fatigued. Deep water starts are night and day less effort, and I didn’t consider the start on my old ski demanding in the least.
  14. I tried mine out this evening. I really, really like it. I’m not a great trick skier, but I’m confident I’ll improve with this ski. Compared to my old 44” O’Brien, this ski is crazy stable and supportive. Stepping off the platform I immediately noticed I sank at about half the rate I usually do. It’s going to take some getting used to as it’s definitely more “slippery” than my old ski. I’m assuming the hard edge might have something to do with it. Mostly on my reverse stuff it simply slid out from underneath me a few times. Wake to wake jumps are effortless with amazingly better height. I can only do a TB, TF, TWB, TWF, TS but I didn’t have a release person so I didn’t try any of those. But the added stability and support I feel makes me think those will also be easier. Hopefully! I ended up slowing the boat from 19.8 mph where I’ve skied for the last 15 years and ultimately settling in at 17.8 mph with 3’ less rope. I also broke the cardinal rule by using a new binding on a new ski. That was a noticeable difference too. I know everybody likes pics:
  15. Whichever tournament inboard one chooses, the wake won't be the limiting factor.
  16. My friend decided his Goode 54” tricker was too big and he’s got some knee problems that the bigger ski was apparently aggravating. He only used it twice, and I bought it from him...can’t wait to try it. I’m 6’5” 230ish lbs so it should be just about right. ? Here it is next to my 1998 44” O’Brien
  17. skiboatpartsonline sells a conversion kit that eliminates the MDC as plug and play option with new gauges.
  18. @VONMAN that’s something I’ve been saying for years. It’s essentially a more modern, refined experience for the driver and passengers. With speed control as an exception, if you can’t do it behind a 1999 Response, you can’t do it behind a 2020 Prostar.
  19. I think it's Alan Jackson and they are filming a remake of the "way down yonder on the Chattahoochee" music video.
  20. I've used a Vapor binding on my late 90's Obrien trick ski for many years. Very happy with the binding on a trick ski, but I'm not a high level trick skier.
  21. We are splitting hairs, but I think Radar’s is actually 43.5” one of my ski buddies has that ski and is happy with it. I really want to try a 54” Goode or a Goodman tricker someday. Goodman will make any size I think up to 56” last I knew.
  22. My friend's wife tried 28 off instead of her normal 22 off the other day at 30mph. She didn't like it because at 28 she was "landing" in the trough of the second wake. At 22 off she "lands" on the down slope of the second wake which is much less jarring on the body. Any chance that's what's going on for you?
  23. I agree that the right gel color combinations really make or break that boat. This boat looks even better in person than the pictures. I pretty much agree with your assessment over the years of the cosmetics of the new TXi, but this gel pattern really hides the "ugliness" so to speak. :p It skis and drives phenomenally...I really like the boat and my opinion of the 17+ TXi in general has pretty much done a complete 180. I've learned the book most definitely can't be judged by the cover...and in my case just pictures of the cover, as I'd never even seen one in person. I unfortunately couldn't get myself to purchase his 2012 even though the price was right. Even had the green light from my wife, although the green light had a long list attached.
  24. Not mine, but my friend’s new to him ‘19 TXi. Although it appears kind of white, it’s actually light grey.
