  1. Or when you’re trick skiing, and the skier gives a tug on the rope because it’s hung up on something in the boat, the handle and rope won’t fly overboard and sink to the bottom of the river never to be seen again.
  2. I've thrown this out there before, but I have the PTM billet mirror and bracket that I bought used. I'd trade for the black plastic mirror if anyone was so inclined. It's the only billet piece on my 98 Echelon...I think.
  3. My setup is on a river with a significant current, especially during high water. I just wash the tracks off with a hose when taking them out for the winter. Some folks drop everything to the river bottom for the winter, but I've seen ice gouge the bottom and move them quite a distance. I also clean out the tracks with a long pole with a machined end to fit into the "U" channel, as sand and small rocks often collect in the channel which hinder the wheels rolling smoothly. I've heard of zebra mussels collecting in the tracks causing issues at some lakes in Wisconsin.
  4. After messing with lifts for 20+ years, I would never go back...unless I had to of course. If I was building new though, I would make more room on both sides of the boat and a little more gradual slope. I do take the rails that attach via pins to the seawall out of the water for the winter. No degradation noticed in the 6 years I’ve had it in the water. I have a powerful fan mounted to the ceiling above the windshield for drying the boat out.
  5. I bought the PTM 140 used at a very good price. I told myself I’d never pay what a new PTM 140 cost, but after owning it for a few years now I wouldn’t have a problem paying full price for the mirror. It’s really nice.
  6. I used to struggle with ZO at 6’5” 225ish pounds. I’ve found C2 this year, and dare I say enjoy the ZO pulls over the perfect pass pulls now.
  7. I’d love to try a 69” someday. I’m still loving my 2016 Vapor though, so I can’t justify a new ski.
  8. Any possibility the rudder could somehow quickly turn 90 degrees and get locked in that position?
  9. This happened to me when I went to a '14 Vapor binding from the '11 Strada binding...I think it's just a new binding in general and not so much that it's the Carbitex binding.
  10. It sure seems Mother Nature’s wind blown waves would cause more erosion than a boat....even a wakeboard boat. That’s a bummer.
  11. Looks like twin outboards were good enough for the 1957 MN State Tournament :)
  12. @Chef23 if it has been sitting a long time, try carefully closing off the return line back to the tank with some needle nose vise grips. I ran out of fuel once 10 years ago and feared I fried my pump...turns out it just wouldn’t prime till I did that. It happened one more time after a winter layup too about 8 years ago. This is on a 1998 Echelon with the monsoon.
  13. A couple of years ago he told me it was medical issues. But the behavior after he did actually contact me back (months later) to find I had moved on and bought a different handle will keep me from ever trying again. I wanted that handle as my neighbor had one that I tried and really liked. However, I found I like the Masterline Ergo handle even better...especially with a float on the bridle. But that's another story. And I very much liked the customer service offered by Masterline.
  14. So did anyone on here make the purchase? My next door neighbor was ready to depart to go pick it up, but the owner didn't return contact as initially planned...but eventually did to say it had sold and was headed to Wisconsin.
  15. I almost got "hatewnd" or "h8 wind" or some variation of that years ago...but wind farms are a hot political topic around here so I decided against it.
  16. Geez. Skied Tuesday and Thursday evening with 72 degree water....this morning it had dropped to 60. Good grief. Still plenty comfortable so don't think I'm complaining too much.
  17. I can't believe how fast the water warmed up here in NW IL over the last week...skied in trunks last night with a 72 degree water temp.
  18. I'm 6'5" 220ish and bought a 7mm XXXL Pinnacle dive suit. First wetsuit that's ever been long enough for me as the size chart says up to 6'7". Now, before you say you don't want a dive suit hear me out. I bought it to put it my rails and docks in 35-40 degree water as I didn't want to risk tearing my drysuit. In the mean time, I tore a seal in my drysuit, and wore the dive suit to ski. I haven't even gone back to my drysuit for the last 2 seasons. It fits and performs (skiing wise) much like the old Ski Warm Sahara drysuit, except you get wet inside...lol, but it's so much easier to put on and take off. The XXXL is a little too big everywhere except length, but that allows me to put my eagle vest on under the wet suit. All that being said, there are many companies that will custom make you a wetsuit.
  19. Neutral Safety switch on the transmission? I've had one of those go bad.
  20. I got to thinking.....in the 50+ years of lift ownership between my dad and I, we’ve replaced the cable 4-5 times on the original cantilever steel shore station we had for nearly 40 years, one on a Hewitt cantilever when I bought it, and the lift cable on his current vertical shore station once.
  21. I’ve bought a few lifts used over the years. I don’t think I’d ever buy new given the cost. I’m not afraid of a cable lift, as one just needs to keep an eye on things. But I am afraid of the price of the no cable (almost) Floe lift. But they are very nice, no doubt.
  22. What the others have said....same issue on my 2005 Pilot when I put a receiver on it. Proper size tap and all was good. I bought the tap before I even tried threading the bolt as I knew that’d be the case. The uhaul folks sound incompetent.
