  1. @razorskier1, you may have a few more years on you, but you could pretty much kick the crap out of everyone I know. Ha
  2. I'm guessing a lot of it has to do with technique. As a newer course skier, the tendency is to fight the boat and take huge hits which will definitely make you sore. When you ski correctly and efficiently, the load and wear on the body is greatly reduced. As far as warm ups go, I always like riding my mountain bike around the lake a couple times.
  3. @SkiJay. Thanks. Makes perfect sense. Based on what you just said, it sounds like the X7 may be what I'd lean towards....but definitely want to demo both.
  4. Thanks! I was just wondering about that!
  5. Any and all light shed on this subject is appreciated. I am a 36 mph skier. What are the differences? Similarities? Advantages? Disadvantages?
  6. At our state tourney a couple years ago, I watched the Chief Driver jump in the boat between skiers to monitor this driver that was consistently getting bad times with Zero Off. 1 skier later, he pulled him out of the driver's seat and got behind the wheel himself. Long story short, the guy had never driven a Zero Off boat. I dont know if he wasn't engaging the system or wasn't setting the speed correctly.....but I was glad to see the Chief Driver take such swift action to correct the problem!
  7. I had the same initial experience when switching to a Reflex. I doubt there's anything wrong with your setup....its just a change in "feeling" that you probably need to adjust to. To be in a good skiing position, you need to have your front knee bent with your ankle flexed towards the balls of your feet. However, the Reflex (especially a new one) require more initial input to get that forward flex. So I discovered that as soon as a got up, I'd go ahead and flex and set my front foot before pulling out for the gates. As soon as I did that, my skiing came right back. I think because of the increased stiffness, I was afraid of pushing too hard forward on the boot and this prevented me from really having any front foot pressure in the turns. No front foot pressure = no turn!!
  8. If you ever film your skiing with an iPhone and you haven't downloaded "VideoPix", you are missing out! Not only can you slow down the rate of playback all the way to 1 frame per second, but you can also move frame by frame forward and backward. It's a great tool to really break down your skiing. And if you happen to catch a frame that makes you look like the next world champ, you can save that frame as a photo too! Anyone else using other less known tools to help improve or enjoy your skiing more? Please share!
  9. "The content owner has not made this video available on mobile". I guess I'll have to stop browsing BO'S on my iPad. No bueno!
  10. I can't seem to get the video to play or find it on YouTube. Am I the only one?
  11. Coming in Thursday night. M2 skiing Friday morning. Will probably stay Friday night as well to catch the Big Dawg finals.
  12. I'm in. M2 skiing on Saturday morning. Looking to share hotel cost Friday night
  13. What division are you in? Or better yet, which day are you skiing?
  14. Me and my dad circa 1983.....where it all started.
  15. YouTube identified the song and artist and displayed it under the video. Facebook just removed the video.
  16. We had the opposite problem one year. The water was too high but wasn't going over the drain. We decided it may make sense to make a homemade siphon using some garden hoses. When I ran the numbers on flow rate for an average hose, I realized it would've taken over 100 years to drop it to where we wanted it. Ha
  17. Sure. But are they profiting from the music on my homemade video? Remember, you only hear the music if you choose to watch my video. The music doesn't bring users to my page.
  18. I can understand that. Obviously, I payed to download the song. I also payed $1 via the video editor app to overlay the soundtrack to my video. I can see that youtube is making money. But I have a hard time considering my Facebook page to be commercial. Everything I post is limited to my friends. It was the easiest way to share with my friends and family the highlights from the tourney. But Facebook took that away. I guess I'm just going to send out a bunch of emails, or the link to the YouTube page.
  19. Everyone knows that skiing videos are MUCH better with some editing, effects, and soundtracks. Well, I put my iPad to good use and put together a short video from the state tournament held in Georgia over the weekend. The video contained an audio track by a country artist. Not 30 minutes after posting the video to youtube, I received an email notifying me that "I may have content that is owned or licenesed by SME". The video remains posted on youtube. No big deal. Right? Well, I later posted the SAME video to my Facebook page. Less than 24 hours after posting, the video was automatically removed from my page. I received an email stating, "We have removed your video. This vdieo may include copyrighted material that you do not have the right to share". etc etc So what gives??? There are thousands of homemade videos out there with soundtracks added. Are they ALL in copyright infringement? Whats the potential harm here? I just don't get it.
  20. @thager 2010 SN 200 OB w ZO. I don't know what "plastic pax handles" are
  21. @ral My ski partner. I noticed that too in that one clip but have never noticed it in any others. Hopefully an isolated incident. @thager Its ZO
  22. @bmiller3536 Excellent skiing! I may switch back to the 2 handed gate after this season ends. As far as coaching...hard to give any advice to someone that's a better skier. The only thing I noticed was you seemed to be getting some slack into/out of 1. Seems you may be carrying more downcourse speed than is ideal. Looks like your edge change could happen a fraction of a second sooner going into 1. Its very minimal though.
  23. @nate93 Thats a new one for me. I'll definitely see what I can do with it. Thanks! @matthewbrown It's funny that you say, "if you are going to do that style of gate". Just this week I was mulling over going back to a 2 handed gate. I don't feel like I've gained any benefit from attempting a one handed gate. When I initially started doing it a couple seasons ago, it was much more like MB's gate, but I was very inconsistent. I think it has evolved to what you see now....hardly a true one handed gate. I think you've hit one of the big nails on the head. A few seasons ago, there was a train of thought that if you were a LFF skier like me, the one handed gate was the way to go. CP went to it and has since gone back. If CP can run 41 w a 2 handed gate, then it certainly should get me through 38. I'm thinking going back to 2 hands will provide me more consistency and control..... But I'm still on the fence. What are thoughts on that?
  24. Thanks guys. Those are definitely things I need to work on. Dropping the shoulder is ver bad/old habit. I do have one specific question. Why do you think I got so much slack out of 4 at 35 off. Seems to happen more often than I'd like.
  25. I'm hoping to make it this year and make it an annual tradition. Unfortunately, without some serious help, it'll be a long time before I run 38!
