  1. Last year we created a ski league that pretty much does what the OP is asking for. A description is below. We had 100+ skiers over five states last year. We are re-tooling this off season to work out some of the kinks we discovered, and we will be taking registrations later this spring for the 2018 season that will run June-August with a two week playoff series. (OPEN TO SKIERS THROUGHOUT THE NATION) The league is virtual weekly team slalom waterski competition open to adults and junior skiers who enjoy skiing in the slalom course. No minimum level of proficiency is required, only a desire to get better at skiing the slalom course. Handicap scoring equalizes the field from beginners to experts. Skiers will compete at their own sites, with their own boats once a week, on their own schedules, and compete virtually against other teams throughout the country. Skiers on the same team can (and have) competed alongside one another each week while skiing in different states. Each skier gets a minimum of four passes every week. Certified judges and drivers are not required. Any boat can qualify as a permitted towboat. Speed control is not required. Teams can range in size from 3 to 10 skiers.
  2. +1 for a 63" Radar TRA or Lyric. I have 11 and 8 year old daughters. I got a 63" lyric several years ago and it worked wonders. It is super stable but still fast. One was running 30mph/15 a couple years ago on it while the other was working on 15mph long line and it worked great for both of them. At the time I bought it I was told the mold was the same for the lyric and the TRA. Not sure if that's true now or not. Once she gets past about 15off/30mph then you probably want her on something smaller and narrower as the wide ski is a little harder to turn over quickly and can lead to her skiing a flat after the second wake. I think the stability really outweighs any negatives though at the slower speeds. I'm for sure not an expert but there's a lot to be said for getting them success often vs. crashing all the time on a narrower more nimble ski. Message me if you have any specific questions.
  3. This spring we are going to be heading into season #2 of a weekly waterski league we started last year, and I am looking for recommendations for a sports league app that I could use to more efficiently administer the league. I would like the software/app to have the following features: Online registration and secure payment; Website building capabilities ; Score tracking; Each user (or maybe just one captain per team) can enter his or her own score on the app from their phone; and Custom formulas/statistics so that team scores, skier averages, handicaps, etc. can be automatically dealt with. Thanks in advance.
  4. I’m up for locations/ideas that are not close enough to ski too. Thanks.
  5. I'm looking for ideas for a place in south Florida (thinking Ft. Myers area or further south...Keys included) for a March trip. Typically we go to Santa Rosa Beach and ski at Pickos (nothing better on both counts in my judgment), but early March can be iffy with the weather. I'd like to find a quiet beach town like Santa Rosa somewhere further south. Skiing somewhere nearby would be ideal but not a deal breaker for this trip. I'd prefer a VRBO or something too so if someone has a rental unit or knows of one they've rented before please speak up. I don't want a big city like Miami or Ft. Lauderdale but instead a quiet beach town with some dining on or near the water where we can walk or bike around safely. We have 8 and 11 year old girls who will be with us. A pool would be ideal but not a deal breaker either. Thanks for the ideas.
  6. I skied pp classic for many years and always struggled skiing ZO. For comparison, in PP classic I would get a couple at 35 off 34mph most days and then I'd go behind a ZO boat and run a few at 28 and be ugly the entire time. I added zbox (version 9) at the end of the summer and skied it for about a month. It was an adjustment for me and at first I skied about the same as I do behind ZO. I skied at Pickos for 6 days a couple of weeks ago and noticed almost no difference behind a 2017 200. This was maybe my 12th trip there and I have never skied as well there as at home despite perfect driving and conditions. This time I skied the same as I do at home right away. This may be entirely consistent with eleeski's review since I do not train regularly behind ZO. Maybe Zbox is harder to ski behind than ZO and that's why now I can ski ZO fine. From a training standpoint I feel like this is the first time I can ski behind ZO without an issue and I've been training behind zbox only. My two cents.
  7. My friend has a 1991 MC Prostar 190. The wood on the swim deck is shot. The brackets are fine. Does anyone know where he can find a replacement for it? He'd be fine with any option that would work, so it doesn't necessarily have to be for a MC if it fits. Thanks in advance.
  8. I just installed a used z-box/stargazer upgrade to my 1998 Malibu Echelon 325mph monsoon. Does anyone have any insight on how the Z-box ABC/123 settings compare to the ZO ABC/123 settings? Maybe this is boat specific, in which case if anyone is using a similar boat I'd be curious. I don't ski ZO enough to really have a good reference, but I'd like to train behind something as similar in feel as what I usually pick in ZO, which is B2 (for no obvious reason other than the middle choice). Thanks.
  9. What are the weights/sleeves that slides over the rope and is crimped on to keep poly mainline/anchor line from floating on a portable course? And where is the best place to buy it? Thanks.
  10. My strada boot liner is shredded. The shell is fine and I like how it fits. Will a vapor replacement liner fit into the strada shell? Still release ok? Anyone else tried this? Thanks.
  11. Thanks big tex. Is he on a radar boot? Measured to back seam or rear of heel?
  12. Will those with a 63.5 2016 vapor post their settings. Talked to Rossi and Radar but from what I heard they made so few 63.5's it's hard to say exactly what the settings should be. Thanks.
  13. Buy a 2016 or newer vapor. I was on the strada. You'll notice a big difference.
  14. capped pvc works great. I also fill the skier buoys 1/2 with water. then no weights are needed and they sit at the perfect height and easily bob out of the way when hit. We almost never lose skier buoys on a big public lake. I've considered filling all of the buoys with water for this reason.
  15. So this got me thinking. If the front binding is set to stock based on the distance from the tail of the ski to the heel of the boot, but the goal is to have your weight on the ball of your front foot, then isn't that point on the ski directly dependent on how large your foot is? I have a size 10.5 foot. Isn't a person my same with a size 12.5 foot going to necessarily be further forward than I am on the same ski set at stock settings? Maybe I'm missing something here, but now I'm curious. Seems like stock settings would need to be boot size dependent if the goal is to truly put the center of mass in the same point on the ski with skiers of different sizes?
  16. I'm on a 2016 66" Radar Vapor. I am habitually on the back of the ski. I'm sure it's mostly me not the ski, but I am having a hard time fixing me. So I moved the bindings forward. I was already one hole forward of stock, now I am two. Stock is 29 1/4 and I am at 29 5/8 (so 3/8 forward of stock). I tried it this morning. The ski just turned without any effort, I felt balanced on the ski, and I ran the easiest 28 I have all summer. Is there any reason I shouldn't just leave it where it is now and go ski?
  17. LeonL--I ski 34mph into 35 off. 32's were pretty consistent in practice last year. hit or miss in tournaments. This year I'm missing lots of 28's. I'm 5'9" 165lbs. lff ski on a strada front rtp back. I"ll try to get some video but don't have any right now. Thanks.
  18. I am constantly on the tail of my ski. I'm on a 2016 radar vapor 66". I moved to that from a 2010 radar strada 66" this year. I was skiing better on my old ski. I'm sure it is mostly technique problems, but it is worse on this ski than my old ski. I'm going to double check my fin settings, but assuming they are stock, what would be the first fin adjustment I might consider to try to help with this. I'm pretty confident the bindings are in the right place, but I would consider changing them if necessary too. I'd appreciate any input.
  19. we're building a 3 season porch that exits to the lake. I am going to have a 10x8 foot blank wall for nothing but storing watersports gear. I need some ideas for storing skis, vests, ropes, etc. Please post ideas or pictures. Thanks.
  20. I had a thought of putting a waterproof Bluetooth tracker chip at each set of sub-buoys in order to make them easier to find. Has anyone ever tried this? I have no idea if it would work. Curious about thoughts on this idea.
  21. I agree--we'd still be in for a non-sanctioned tournament. We were really looking forward to this!
  22. Any recommendations on kids wetsuits (full, shorty, or heater top)? For a 10 year old and need to replace the pretty cheap one that she outgrew. Camaro is high on the list but they are fairly expensive and she is growing fast. Thanks.
  23. Southwest. Sportube. Reported after the 4 hour window. Arrived at 12:30am.
  24. I had a trick ski damaged on a flight. Airline is requesting a written estimate from a "licensed Quantum waterski repair facility" stating the cost to repair the ski or a statement that the ski is not repairable. Attached is a picture of the damage. I'm not sure where I would even look to find someone to do this. The edge of the ski was crushed (a pretty small part but damaged nonetheless). Any suggestions on who I would speak to in order to satisfy the airline's requirement? Thanks.
