  1. I'm thinking about sinking one of our portable courses permanently and just installing the buoys for use rather than installing/removing the whole thing. It sits in about 8-10 feet of pretty consistent depth water. The bottom is pretty hard. By the end of the summer there are some weeds, but not weeds to the surface or anything. I know there have been some other threads about this in the past. Please provide info about how this might work, problems we'll run into, and tips you might have to make it work. Thanks.
  2. For the record. Until we committed to go we had decided that the cost to ski regionals and nationals could not be justified and we'd be better to just go ski so somewhere else and get much more skiing in. After going to nationals this year I feel very differently about it.
  3. Took my 10 year old girls 1 skier to nationals. I've never qualified. It isn't that hard to qualify as a girls 1 skier. She doesn't know that. She doesn't need to. She had an amazing experience. She has never been more excited about skiing than she is now. She wants to start tricking after watching her new friends (who she met and competed against at regionals and nationals) trick. Maybe it's different because it's a kid but another round or two would have made zero difference. Like someone else posted, with 3 rounds there would be zero upsets. That is part of the allure. In a one round tournament your average only matters for your seeding...after you leave the dock you're all in the same boat and have to perform.
  4. Would dual lock work to be able to switch out two different bindings? I skied a 41" for the first time recently without too much trouble so 42 would probably be ok.
  5. Considering one of these. Please weigh in on whether new shape of 2016 is more important or better of 2015 lithium. Ski is for a kid 63.5. 32mph for a while so not likely to flex the ski much. How much slower is the graphite? How much lighter is the lithium? Thanks.
  6. I know someone selling a used TRA. Message me if you want info.
  7. My 10 year old daughter just switched from a 63" Radar Lyric to a 62" D3 Quest Junior. Binding set up is the same as previously. She is 56" tall and about 70lbs. She is getting into 22 off at 30mph. She has two sets on the new ski and she is struggling at 27mph long line. She runs this like nothing on her old ski. They forgot to put the wing on it so I put the old wing from the radar on the quest. It calls for 7 degrees. I didn't have a wing tool so I made one. I think it is the correct angle, but it could be off I suppose. D3 saw her at Nationals and said based on her size, etc. this is the right ski for her until at least 90 lbs. She had a wing on the old ski so I'm reluctant to remove it in order to try to minimize the variables. 1. Does anyone have a kid on this ski, and if so, how long should I expect it to take for her to get back up to where she was? 2. If not, does anyone have experience with a kid switching skis generally and have thoughts about what we should expect? 3. Any other thoughts as she tries to get used to this new ski? Thanks.
  8. My two daughters (7 and and 10) want to get into trick skiing. I am going to try to figure it out too. Any suggestions on what size to start them on? Does anyone have a used trick ski they want to sell? I want to try it out too, so I'd be looking to buy an older trick ski that would fit me too. I am 5'9 165lbs. Thanks.
  9. TRA. You won't regret it. My two daughters use it (7 and 10). My niece (9) and nephew (12) are on it. I know lots of other kids using it. Skis great.
  10. Sgregg--thanks. I can't picture how that works. Can you expand on it a bit?
  11. I am considering upgrading perfect pass classic to stargazer w/ Z-box. 98 Malibu Echelon with mechanical throttle. Our course is on a public lake, we move it every couple of weeks, and it moves slightly most days when we tug it tight to straighten it out. With that said, would Z-box be a pain as I'd have to map it every time I ski or how might that work? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
  12. Where is the least expensive place to buy course buoys?
  13. I've heard a lot of talk about how to grow the sport of waterskiing. I couldn't agree more. But I'm curious what that really means. Please chime in.
  14. My daughter (G1) is going to be skiing at the Midwest regionals and also at nationals this year. We've never skied either before. I paid for a practice set at nationals when I registered her. There wasn't an option to do that for regionals. We arrive mid-day the day prior to her skiing for both tournaments. It sounds like there is maybe a sign up sheet for getting a practice set in after the tournament ends each day that you need to sign in person to get in line. I'm hoping we've left enough time to make the list and get her a set the day before she skis. Does anyone have any insight about how this works and what if anything we can try to do to get he on the water for a little practice? Thanks.
  15. My 10 year old (Girls 1) just reached her max speed (30mph) and now wants to start working on 15 off. Any tips to pass along to her to assist her with learning this new line length would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  16. Why was the woman filming? Did she see the thing flying around before it took off?
  17. Does anyone use this? How about for kids. My daughter is in a non uscg approved vest and would consider this. She is probably 70lbs. Anyone have one for a kid? No idea on sizing.
  18. Hi all--I'm going to buy the original Ski-Doc (not the new orbit one). Any suggestions for an Iphone adapter? They sell one with it but I'm recalling some others on BOS had suggestions for a different one. Any input is appreciated.
  19. Looking for a vest for my 7 year old daughter. I'd like a uscg approved Vest for now or a pretty buoyant non uscg vest. My 9 year old has an eagle non uscg which is great but I think my 7 year old needs a little more flotation. Any suggestions?
  20. Hard to justify costs of a football stadium based on ticket prices alone but factor in tv, licensing, etc. and somehow it works. Similar here I would guess. Surfing has a ton of money and if you could expand the surfing lifestyle to Inland "surfers" it probably doesn't matter if an individual site can make money on use fees.
  21. Oh and buy a pair of skis like the junior amigos or something similar (double concave bottom). The little kids can basically ski at idle with them because they are so wide but they at not super long or heavy and they can be easily controlled.
  22. Buy or rig up weights for the back of the skis. Midwest Mastercraft sells them online. You can't believe how much this helps them. When they are new and little controlling the skis before they get going is frustrating and can be scary for them when they feel out of control. Wish I figured this out earlier. 6 year old for sure can go behind the boat but ease into it. 4 year old for sure could too as long as it is the kids that want it. The boom gives them instant success and I try to continue that success so it stays fun for them. Very short handle on the book gives them the feel for the rope. A little peer pressure from a kid who knows how to ski can help too. Don't force them. If they want to be done even if they didn't ski long let them stop. I can't count the number of times I've put the book on and carried the gear all down for 2 minute ski but they kids come back the next time.
  23. I have this same problem. If someone has a pic of the set up on a Rtp please post picture. Thanks.
