  1. @Horton I think I've had all of those in a tourny plus being on public water!!!!
  2. ummm,,, so pull out later at the 55's. This is what anyone would do if they are regularly on the right hand ball and getting correct width, speed and angle. obviously this all gets harder as the line gets shorter but that's why they are pro skiers and I'm sitting here in Australia freezing my butt off =)
  3. @skidawg so why are the pros cutting the gate so fine????? If it is no advantage why not aim for the middle??? Obviously I do not ski at these super short line lengths, but believe there must be an advantage otherwise they would not be so close to the right hand ball. the only time I could see it being a disadvantage is if the skier leans too long (which is not the fault of the gate) which would have them carrying too much speed, same as anyone learning a new pass..
  4. This was my suggestion after Moomba, however review should be done at normal speed and if a definite decision cannot be made call it good. I also believe Cameras should be at a certain height to make view clearer, I could be wrong on this and would have to read up, but in the rules there is no stipulation for a camera height, there is however for a judges tower??
  5. @Monkstr6100 if you can get hold of a pp fall button you can plug it into the timer and it will simulate a magnet when pushed. i.e. have observer/spotter press it as you turn in for your theoretical gate, it will then behave as long as there are no other issues.
  6. One with a LARGE sweet spot =) @rich Conditions must play a part, year after year I see skiers at Moomba get caught out on a roller or current catches them on their gate. Scores are typically low at Moomba for a reason. However I too would not change anything setup wise for tough conditions, just have to adapt quicker to what you get.
  7. Hard to go wrong with an Animals, have not used attack but would suggest it is very similar to Radar Vectors which are an awesome boot for your level. Attack will be a lot easier to put on in the water and as long as you do not cinch them up too tight no dramas with coming out. A lot easier to replace a lace on Attack than an overlay on an Animal down the track too =)
  8. I think that one thing a lot of people are forgetting is that 2 different actions can have a very similar effect, my thought being that trailing or leading arm pressure will achieve the same result i.e. keeping shoulders heading outbound. I'm also very interested in @sethski thoughts on what type of skier to promote leading/trailing arm to? As a coach I am very Skier specific but have not managed to pick up on this principal for different skiers. Personally I am favoring trailing arm only slightly (70-30 maybe less) as it seems to give me a better/ smoother edge change. With Leading arm I felt I got lean locked and could not get off leaning edge making for a very ugly edge change.
  9. @MattP we still call in times so as to make sure boat driver has set boat speed correctly, basically a triple check that the speed was set correctly. Driver, Boat Judge and Scorer. Our Z box was plug and play on our 2000 sportster, (310hp Carb) good times and good pull straight out of the box
  10. Our State and National Titles were at the site last season. No surprises and ski's pretty well but can be wind affected,,,, Go Aussie!!!!
  11. I REALLY like the idea of keeping the rope only problem is if multiple skiers do it!!! I also like the idea of something between driver and skier. Needs to be repeatable everywhere and allow for multiple skiers.
  12. AND for junior skiers?????????? =)
  13. So have been thinking about this for a while and would like some input, I feel there should be some tradition for the first time you cut rope in a tournament. Surely someone has some suggestions for what this could be. e.g. get to throw the boat driver/judge in the water. Keep the rope or something similar. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
  14. So secret you would only find it if you fell off a cliff!! @Horton
  15. @Horton @auskier Bedrock a couple of months ago, Toby hearing some rumours of 4 round "L" there soon will find out more this weekend at SA vs VIC
  16. @Razorskier1 did you try and skate around it in 16.08?? =)
  17. 1 problem with that @AB there is no 23m rope length for slalom in the IWSF rulebook, 18.25m is the longest rope length for Slalom =)
  18. @auskier thats bound to upset someone here!! =)
  19. Being a 25 year watchmaker I know that most mechanical watches are nowhere near accurate!! I did See a Tag Heur Stopwatch at one stage though that had the different Speeds marked on the dial in different colours. Basically as long as the hand fell in the zone of the relevant speed it was in tolerance.
  20. I do not know a lot about Dual Lock but would it be easiest just to Dual Lock it on? Seems like it would be a lot easier than putting in inserts etc Is their a "Stronger" hold in different types???? http://www.shop3m.com.au/3M_Dual_Lock_TB3550_250_250_Black_p/at010587841.htm
  21. We all know that there are MANY ways to explain something as a coach, however we all do not learn the same way! The star system to me seems to give us "Ballers" who do not know the credible posters an easier way to sort through things. The "No Star Crew " like myself, will still get read and it would be a very silly person that did not read EVERYTHING in a thread, it may not work for you, but unless you read and try you will never know!
  22. @aswinter05 just checking to see how your week at Cobles went?
  23. Have run handicapped team event before. Have run 1st round with the -4 buoys from PB as handicap format. e.g. PB of 4@35off skiers runs 2@35off score is +2. If skier ran 5@32off score would be -1. From the first round take your 2 or 3 best handicapped scores (All depending on numbers) and appoint them as "Team Captains" have them go pick for pick of the remaining skiers. Run second round and add up team score. It is a really fun tourny and will usually be fairly close in the end as well as involving all ability levels.
  24. Something I have come to use a lot the last season was the phrase "Adapt quicker" Sites, Boats, wind etc works for all!!
  25. @scuppers The piezo buzzer (little black cylinder) may be touching something, if the hole in it's end is covered/blocked it will affect the output. There is also the possibility of extending the wires (only 2) and running the buzzer to an alternate location i.e. out from behind dash panel. Hope this helps.
