  1. FM e series, basically my ankles are toast and it hurts to put a rubber binding on. Had seen a couple of nasty pre release's from some hard shells and that was my major reason for the FM's i.e. cannot pre release. Typically I am a VERY still skier so the stiffness issue is not a huge concern for me,, although it did seem to take about 10 sets for them to "Soften up" and loose that super responsivness
  2. Yes lots of snakes which are just common for our area!! Did have a Goanna swim past us last year at our site =)
  3. Bedrock is still shallow and you walk to the pickup boat! Access from the river is still the same way in, splash eye is in and a pretty awesome Deck/seating area now comes off the storage shed
  4. @dbski‌ AWESOME job on the Trophy skis, the few photos I have seen they look amazing. It is sorta hard to keep up with the event with most of it early am here but from what i saw on the webcast it all looked to run pretty well
  5. We had some similar issues at a Tourny but it was in slalom, boat would not pick up entry gates at one end. Came to the conclusion that we were loosing a satellite due to being close to a cliff at that end, Speed was definitely correct and so was pull. Apparently you need less satellites to control speed (hence speed being correct) but need a certain number to pin point a position correctly e.g. start gates
  6. Thanks Guys, this is an area I know VERY little about (and am sure others are the same) Is vibration an issue??? In rough water would this help the ski settle into its sweet spot??? Our site can get a little rough on the pull out at one end and teeth chattering and blurry vision in the glide can be a bit weird =)
  7. Hey all just came across this and wondered if some of you with ski engineering backgrounds could comment as to wether it would be advantages to skis, maybe @Mapple‌ @eleeski‌ @Horton‌ http://www.bianchiusa.com/technology/countervail-video/
  8. @ryno65‌ Gav Mcmillan found the exact connectors through Middys?? (could be wrong on this) Jarrod Faoro may be able to help you out??
  9. We used Road Base for ours, similar situation with a muddy/clay base. Worked well, been in for 6 years and only just now starting to get a little mound in the middle.
  10. Raw water pump bearing failure????
  11. @klindy‌ no these are the new IWWF rules, only released 8th of March. Plus being "Down Under" we have no real interest in AWSA rules =) http://iwsf.com/dbheadlines/headlinefiles/World%20rules%202014.pdf
  12. New rules are out with amendments to gate judging as well which should speed things up, see below for new ruling. The rule book also has definite heights and positions for gate cameras now as well. Each gate must be judged by two judges using video feeds from cameras placed at the required angle and height to the gates at each end. These camera feeds will be displayed on a monitor and taped. Each Judge will independently call the entrance gate by observing the monitor. In this case only the tower judges determine the gate call. If one or both judges did not observe the entrance gate then the judge will would replay the video to make the call. If both Judges disagree the Chief Judge or an appointed Judge will cast the deciding vote. A gate can be reviewed, as described above, for a maximum of 2 times, then the call has to be made. The exit gate will be viewed directly but the video may be used by one or both judges to resolve any questions.
  13. @Stevie Boy‌ the human error is the skier!!! =) they have mis-judged conditions, Current/wind/rollers etc @eleeski‌ from what I can gather they were obvious misses and not hard ass judges. I think another thing that a lot of people have missed is that Nate went down (as in fell) in the final, from what I felt was a mistake, first one he has made in along time. All in all another fantastic Moomba and I'll be back there again next year!
  14. After dock starting at Moomba last year NONE of this seems weird!!!! There is some pretty funny goings on before skiers get in the water =)

  16. @Horton can you "promote" @AdamCord to something more than "Baller"???? For those that do not know who he is it may be beneficial. Best thread I have read on here for a while in regard to setting up a ski. Adam a "ski setup 101" would be handy for a lot of people e.g. Set fin and boots to stock, and then your method of adjusting, for example a sequence of. Front boot position, rear position, fin length, fin depth, DFT, wing.
  17. @Simonm I went from an A1 to and S2 a couple of seasons ago and found it to be a really natural progression. Just EASIER at 55kph! A lot easier on the body and a very forgiving which will help at 14m, BTW am slightly taller and similar weight and ski on a 66.5" it has never felt small.
  18. @Bill22 If your willing to do the 30 plus hours in transit to get here,,,sure!! =)
  19. skied twice after work this week, one night was no heater top too =)
  20. DO IT!!! It is not ZO but it is the closest thing you are going to get =)
  21. Have PP with Z-box on our carbed Sportster. Was a simple plug and play, skis well and have a couple other Z-box boats on our lake as well, all but 1 perform well, it happens to be a DBW!!
  22. @bbirlew no the intent of the rules is NOT to have a constant speed! It is to be within the range of times for a given speed. C settings are coming on and off within the tolerances just as A and B are.
  23. @Chef @Than_Bogan @OB Score of 6 NC was correct. It is a different call for 6 ball 14.07: Scoring Buoys A buoy not missed is scored as follows, up to the point of the first miss: a) 1/4 point when the skier crosses the line C-D AND the X-Y line in a skiing position (12.03). (See sketch). b) 1/2 point when the skier has re-crossed line C-D in skiing position (12.03) before the level of the next buoy or end gate. c) 1 point when the skier has crossed the line of the gate buoys (on a tight line under power of the boat) before passing the level of the next buoy (or the end gate in the case of the final buoy) without falling (12.02). The intent of the tight line is to ensure the safety of the skier. This means that if the skier can only cross the line of the buoys with a slack line then he will not get the full point so there is no reason to try that. The end gate case is different because of the spacing and thus if the skier can cross the gate line before the end gate buoy and ski away he will be awarded the full buoy. This specifically means that the skier is permitted to have slack going through the exit gates. If the skier skis away then they may continue. If the skier does not ski away, the turn ends and the skier scores 6 provided they crossed the line of the boat buoys before the end gate with or without a slack line. The skier may exit the gate with slack line. And back to the original point of this thread,,,, Did you know that probably one of the biggest events in sport, athletics 100m if you break the start your DONE!!! From a safety standpoint I do like the idea of the extra buoy at exit gate, I have had too many injuries around 6 and at the exit gate!
  24. @Ed_Johnson I do understand this, but have seen this work well for a lot of girls,, not so much boys. I would guess at different body shapes being the reason. April does not turn her head past the rope but she does do it very early in her turn. My guess is that this would help our subject commit to the turn and stop the standing up. It is also very simple for a student to achieve without having to think about where hips, shoulder etc are. I do like Joels explanation of this though and will be thinking about it on my off side as soon as we get back on the water here, single figures Celsius here today =(
  25. @Chef23 @jwroblew just throwing something out there, do you think a head turn like April would help?? I know when I first started skiing the course it worked for me, BUT it then caused me to overturn down the track. Hope you guys are skiing well =) JWrob looks like our profile pics are the same turn buoy =)
