  1. NE has some nice areas. New Braunfels is nice also and right between San Marcos and Cibolo.
  2. There's a few public lakes in the San Antonio area. Still gotta drive some to get to them. I have a friend that's a good realtor in the area. Michele 830-612-3416. There is definitely areas of SA you don't want to live in or near. Found her website http://www.hienergyrealty.com/

  4. They've banned PWC on weekends on some lakes here in central Texas. I'm pretty sure it was the result of some deaths. There was one case were a PWC was jumping the wake of a boat that had a skier. PWC hit the skier.
  5. I'm going to try and make it, gotta get out of work first.
  6. Beating the Texas Drought. Bought a compact course from Ed. We had it out a few times and it's working great. I called him Monday and it was on my front porch Friday. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm211/4wdfactory/Water%20skiing/IMAG0106.jpg
  7. We would pull the turn buoys out on the course we had on a public lake. I left some jugs on the lines.
  8. I've had a few more runs on the T-factors. They've loosen up a lot from the first couple of times, especially the front. I'm really having to pull the cord tight on the front to get the snug fit I want. The front to back flex has softened up as well. Still liking them, however I'm missing the foot bed of my HO's that had arc support etc. I'll see what I can do to add some arc support when I get some time. Now the issues: I was getting a blister just below / behind the inside ankle bone. Using a flash light I was able to see a good size chunk of inner liner that was protruding inward - looked like it was not cut out properly. Removed it and no more blister. I looked in from the toe end (front boot still) and found two more chunks of rubber that were harder and had specific cut shapes. They were left there from assembly, wedged between the foot bed and side. I was able to remove them easily just using my fingers. The front's a lot more comfortable now.
  9. I'm completely impressed with both the girl's skiing. For a three year old it's incredible. I'm thinking if kids this young are going to ski in competition there needs to be some special rules that are much more liberal. We need to do what we can to encourage this in the future and accommodate there special needs.
  10. I heard Jeff Rodger"s comment, early going downwind at 39. I remember years ago some really top coaches telling me to get wider for my gates even at 15 and 22. I never was able to get anywhere at 38. I always had problems at one ball. Now that I look back at it I was over skiing all my passes from the start - coming into one ball way fast and out of control.
  11. I was watching youtube videos of Nate at 32 off. I was really surprised at how narrow his gate start was even at 35 off.
  12. I have had a set of T-factors for over 2 weeks but just got to ski on them today (Dang shoulder problem). I'm on a new ski as well so its hard to report on any comparisons and I was only free skiing. I ended up getting XLs front and rear, I have a 13B foot. Very narrow and low volume foot, I usually have to go down to Large bindings. I don't think the T-factors would work if you had a much bigger foot - They were comfortably snug for me. I did have some some discomfort on my front foot. There was a pressure point at the base of my small toe were the joint is, on outside edge. I going to look at the adjustment to see if I can do something about it (did you notice this any Than?). Putting them on was not a problem, I was expecting the tongue moving around thanks to previous warnings here. I was able to remove them easily after loosening the bungees. I agree with Than as far as behind the boat, the ski really stayed on edge. Kinda surprised me when I made my first hard cut.
  13. I don't remember exactly the first time but my first year in college (1984) there was a guy on my dorm floor on the water ski team whom I quickly made friends with. I had been free skiing since about 7 years old and I thought I was a bad ass slalom skier. I had seen pro tours and it didn't look that hard. Well, I quickly learned that I wasn't near as good as I thought and I was doing everything wrong, but I definitely got hooked. I managed to talked my father into trading in the SeaRay for an inboard and slowly started correcting my bad habits, that summer I went to Bennets ski school. After not skiing for about 15 years I made my return this summer. So I starting over ran 15 off 30mph a few times. Still fighting all the bad habits, then there's this whole new west coast thing?
  14. Been looking for a newer boat was thinking Malibu Response but I ran across several MB sports. Anybody have any experiences with these as far as wake and quality? Both of these have perfect pass. I skied on the Ski Brendella years ago seems like they had decent wake. 1995 MB SPORTS BOSS 200 2000 MB Sports 190 plus - this one is an open bow
  15. I can't get a feel of what the rear would look like from the drawing, but I don't like the barrel look on the back. Looks good on old wooden boats but I think a more traditional ski boat design looks better and would give a more effective utilization of space. I have a older American skier (besides the electronics) - My wish list would be an open bow of some kind and more interior room for gear. I had a early 90s Prostar that I really liked.
  16. I just started skiing again and I'm about the same place you are kfennell. I've been free skiing at 36 to get the fell of it, also been trying slower speeds (28 and 30mph) and cutting the rope to get a feel for a shorter line. When I quite years ago I was running 15 and 22 off 36 easy but now it seem really fast. I also have tried 22/34 and 28/34 in the course just to see what I could do, that seemed really fast also (in 34 mph age group now). I used to drop to 34 then 35mph when I was trying to learn a new line length. Good luck, like the other guys say, I think I'm working a lot harder at the slower speeds than when I was skiing 36.
  17. What size bindings and feet do you guys have? I have a 13B foot - narrow and flat. I'm using some older HO bindings that are larges. I looked at some of my older skis and they all were Larges. D3 recommending XL for a 13 on the chart.
  18. I've just started skiing again recently and mostly been skiing 15off, up to 34mph. I've taken a few tries at 22 and 28 off. I've been skiing behind a newer Reponse LXI, older American skier, and a 08 MC197 TT. The 197 has a noticeably bigger wake at 15 off, the first time 28 off 34 on the MC hurt me pretty bad, I crashed as a result of the wake - the hardness of the wake really surprised me. I hadn't really noticed the wake on the other boats. I was a MC promo member in the late 80's early 90s, I remember those boats having pretty nice wakes. For what these new boats cost I'd have to say I expect more of them.
