  1. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Slalom&postid=25612 This link is my ski I am selling, i sent you a pm with my e-mail in case you are interested.
  2. What beanies are popular for fall and winter skiing? Links? Thanks, Don
  3. This makes me so psyched because all I know in the 13 months I have been in the course is Radar and I love my Strada. Horton has skied so many different skis and to give us all this info choosing this over all the skis out there = one thing.......Lord willing, in 2014 I am riding the Vapor!
  4. @Wish I have been thinking 'soft ankles' which = knees bent and load front foot which helps. however, I finish the turn on the rear as you can see here.

  6. Chris you rock!! Thank you so much for the reply. @Joeprunc I very much appreciate the feedback but unsure if you realize the chrisrossi giving me the #'s for the fin is the same one who designed the ski! Try em, I will in the am!
  7. Sweet,.. thanks Chris! For context -this is a 66" 2012 Strada. I have been skiing the course for a little over a year and making really good progress! I am very comfortable at 32mph and making passes at 33mph. Skiing 3x a week and getting coaching I anticipate being semi solid at 34mph by the end of the month. The off side leverage position and not getting on the tail at the finish of the turn has been problematic. With all this in mind what recommendations do you have for the fin? @Joeprunc I have been told by two different folks at Radar that ALL their skis are designed to be used With the wing.
  8. Just spoke with them here are the factory specs; Boot from tip to 2nd stitch; 28" 3/4 Fin 6.84 length 2.51 depth 0.755 from tail 9 degrees on the wing. The wing is not meant to come off even below 34mph, all Radar skis are designed to use it always!
  9. I plan to put a slot caliper to my 2012 fin tomorrow and am requesting both factory as well as suggested settings for a skier who is at -15 to -22 and just getting comfortable at 34 mph. I have Radar's contact info and will call today but thought I would ask here too. Thanks!
  10. @dbressel I found the lake on google earth! My family are in Fresno and I had no idea there was a lake there. I will be in touch and look forward to checking it out and you have my info if you ever come this way! Hopefully see you in Oct!
  11. The last video I have is from over a month a go and way too much has changed since then. Really eager to capture some faster speeds (with decent form) on video. Coming!
  12. I am making great progress finally. Skiing with consistent coaching and getting out 2-3x a week has allowed me to start bumping the boat speed to the 34mph mark (-15). I notice as the boat gets faster my 2012 Strada likes to ride up on top the water better but as I come in to the buoy balanced I tend to finish on my rear foot. I am not doing the dreaded 'wheelie' like I used to but still it could be much better. Ideas to work on this?
  13. I have a Strada and am slowly bumping the boat speed to the targeted 34mph too! After a long time at 30 plus.6 then .8 rpms ... 32mph is now home for me as a baseline speed to progress from. I ran 6/6 passes first set yesterday @32mph, then did two passes @33mph for a PB! 34mph with good form is my goal this year too (all -15 rope length). I have gotten 5 balls @34mph and agree the ski loves to ride up off the water, however, offside form suffered so slowly bumping the speed till comfortable with it. The Strada allows you to turn fast and get angle to make passes! I love mine and agree many goos deals on ski it again!
  14. Todd, 'fully release' -meaning liner comes out right? I think I had that happen a few times last year but not once this year. Caveat that may or may not mean anything, BUT putting the inserts under the liners made me love these bindings so much more as they became 99% hassle free by using strong velcro to stick the insets to the bottom of the boot and place the liner on top. Unsure if it effects any release factor tho.
  15. Sorry to hear this Kolb. I work in PT (10 years of out pt ortho experience), let me know if something comes up and you want some advice So by tightening pretty tight, is the goal to stay in and tuck and roll or would you want the liner to come out? I guess with out it tight you do not have the control the binding is supposed to allow?
  16. I'm Don Anderson 47 years young next month. I did not have the privilege of growing up on a lake or having a family boat. My parents had some friends with boat and I got up on combos at about 7 years old then skied abut 6-7 times over the next 9 years. Never saw a course or skied with anyone who could coach me, just loved the experience! While in 8th and 9th grade a buddies family had a cabin on Bass lake near Oakhurst Ca. (outside Yosemite and the same lake 'The great outdoors' was filmed on). They had a boat in a slip so this was part of those 6 or 7 times skiing. During this time I got up on a single ski. After high school a friend bought a Bay liner and we skied hard all of one summer on a public lake on super cheap skis just happy to cross the wake. Fast forward with 20 years of intense rock climbing as a baseline of fitness and a strong grip and a move to the Motherload area in Tuolumne county Ca. It all changed as I got the opportunity to ski behind a real ski boat for the 1st time three years ago and then began trying the course 13 months ago. PB now is 5 @ 34mph -15 and consistently making all6 @ 32mph -15. Oh yeah I did make all6 at -22 at 32mph too! Dialing my offside leverage for a bombrpoof foundation. I own a 98 Ski Nautique to go to New Melones here and there but now hooked up with some great folks at Sunspray private lake whereI bought membership and there is consistent water and Coaching!! I am hooked and go out there 3x a week and will until it starts raining. At least until Nov 1st. Super appreciative to all the help and advice I have gotten along the way (much of which has been in forums like this) which has allowed me to make some pretty good strides fairly quickly. Biggest advancement has been the past 3-4 weeks. I feel like the 1st part of this year was wasted on not so good public lake conditions and skiing with friends who were no where near my level which is not saying much (but great guys). Looking forward to many more years getting my 'swerve' on!
  17. After reading through the 'What binding were you using' thread it prompted a question for those who use what I do -the Strada binding (2012). I sized them pretty close to the size of my foot and heat formed them. The 1st 4-5 times out they were a bit uncomfortable but now I love them (had em just over a year). Because they were very close to my foot size I do not even mess with the lower small bungee but the upper one I pull fairly tight, but not super aggro tight. I read Horton's comment 'over tighten them and they become unsafe' and it made me think. 99% of time when I fall I roll and the super light carbon Strada stays on and I do not come out, thus my thinking of lace it snug and keep it this way. With me getting very comfortable at 32mph now and trying some passes at 34mph I can see how an increased intensity in the fall factor will begin to be an issue. Today I partially came out of the front binding for the first time all season (the liner tried to come up a little) and it only slightly hurt and the top of my foot. So just wondering others take on this with all I have mention in mind -do you come out, at higher speeds, how tight do you cinch ect? Thanks, Don
  18. Awesome gregy! Just trying to pay it back a bit. Since I suck at skiing and rely on you all for advice I like to share a bit of my PT orthopedic clinical experience.
  19. Never count out the placebo effect. The current pain science says if you believe it will work, it will! They did a study where ultra sound machines were not plugged in and they had the same effect as those that were. Yet PT clinics still use them -because they can bill for it. Evidence based medicine is the direction all healthcare is moving, don't settle for experience or anecdotal based treatments. Core issue here fellas, your will cannot force a change in the physiology. We do not want to take the time off it takes to heal and short line skiing takes a toll on an aging body. Don't hate me for telling you the truth!
  20. Thanks for the offer Jim! Eventually I will get back up there to visit and get some more coaching. Ask your PT about ulnar nerve glide/slides. They should be done with out lighting up your symptoms.
  21. The Ortho's we work with in the Motherload (Ca.) will be very upfront in admitting there is ***Nothing conclusive in the literature regarding the efficacy of PRP as a form of treating joints, muscle, tendon or bone tissue. Level 1 research published in ortho journals is the only form of evidence based medicine to go off of. Level 5 research is expert opinion (not good), make sure you know the difference. PRP is not covered by many providers thus it is typically an out of pocket crap shoot. This is also why there is not much research on it currently. If you believe it will help the placebo effect (which is very real) is on your side! @Jimbrake, nerve glides and slides along with non aggravating stretching and ice is your method of treatment. This link was a video I did for guitar players in another forum but includes ulnar nerve glides. Let me know if you want more info on them. -Don
  22. Go to correct craft fan.com site if you have not already. By far the best resource on the web for your Nautique. http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/default.asp
  23. Primary goal is proper leverage on both sides, then making all6, then bumping speed as an indicator you are ready. Do you have people you ski with you trust to tell you what your leverage position looks like? Better yet submit video here! A solid foundation is what you build your boat speed from, not just chasing buoys! Back to back passes with 30mph, with good technique go for a few at 32!
  24. Rock climbing. This pic is one of many first ascents I have done. Sport climbing is our deal, overhanging crags like this one where bolts are placed. Very physical and requires good technique, head space and grip!
