  1. Nor Cal cloudy and cool too. Skied last night as storm clouds blew in. Great weather for rock climbing here in the foothills! Back to 90's next week.
  2. In the PT clinic I treat a fair amount of X fit folks for lumbar injuries and hypo mobility -not stretching. I'm sure it varies in different x fit gyms but it seems like trying to keep up with the work out of the day without getting some feedback on the form your doing it with is not always a good thing. Climbing is a really good way to cross train mixed with stretching hip flexors, hams and piriformis. I have a 45* bouldering wall in my garage. Curious, the X 'fit' women out west seem to all be gals who just want non defined bulk -not attractive to most men. For those who participate in X fit where your at do you notice that most of the women into it are just going for the non defined bulking up thing?
  3. Canmore, Alberta is one of the coolest places to outdoor recreate on earth!
  4. Funny my story is similar and using a Vapor too! Private water, better coaching, more skiing and the ***-19*** loop got me into -22 in a few months. I have never been in the presence of 'pros' but my buddies telling me to get up on the boat more and 'keep back arm pressure' ect is really helpful and allowed me to have the best summer skiing to date!
  5. Indoor rock climbing gym! The comment about the driver is likely an issue too. I like an 'ease an go' pull up where the driver does not pull the handle or jack my back.
  6. @skierjp wow that sucks, sorry to hear this. Thanks for the heads up and def heal fast my friend. As an update I have been lacing to top much looser and am used to it with no issue yet!
  7. @6balls your exactly right! I did not see the video but I guess MB was interviewing Nate last weekend asking for one key tip for skiers,.. Nate shrugs and says 'I dunno -try to keep it FUN'! This is also why I rock climb, mt bike and am an avid lead guitarists in two bands. It's nice to not have skiing or any one activity and it's success's or failures dictate my happiness or state of mind.
  8. Where was Whitney and Regina? reminds me of the men's bracket last year. None of the top skiers I wanted to see were there. I will say however, Steven Neveau was as smooth and fun to watch as anyone shredding his Vapor

  10. Whatever works for each of you but I will say the -19 eased me into -22 without a doubt. Similarly -25 allowed me to ease into -28 without the -6' length jump. I have no doubt -30 will do the same toward the goal of -32. I agree at -22 you can learn things, but you can also forget how to run the vastly different -28 if you spend too much time there. Additionally you can reinforce a bunch of bad technique and still run a -22 where at -25 and shorter you will go flat and fast into the balls if you don't get stacked and the early edge change needed to run the pass. @escmanaze just look for 'Masterline progressor' line. I got mine from Joe Darwin from cottonwood lakes La. for a great price. There is a -19 loop that will ease you out of the -15 and closer to -22 for sure!
  11. The masterline 'progressor' rope has aided in allowing me to get to -28 via the -25 loop which is where I start now. -25 is a lot closer to -28 than -22 in terms of the whip and where the edge change happens but it's not as punishing as -28 can be for a guy like me who has only been running the course for 5 years now. A few weeks ago I started coming off the dock at -25 and so last Weds after running two -28's in a row I opted to try the -30 loop on my progressor line. First try ever I made it around 5 ball and had a big slack hit coming so I opted to save my back for another day. Sunday (yesterday) was the next ski day. First set I could not run -28 so was happy to make three -25's. Second set I made two -25's in a row then two -28 and figured it was time to try -30 again. Fell first attempt and the next try I nailed it! My observation and feedback from the boat is when done correctly the shorter line lengths are easier to ski. Longer line length do cover a multitude of 'sins' but they also allow for more time and space to goof things up. Have you all noticed that as you dialed in -28 and shorter finally ditching -22? I know it's not a tournament line length, but I am not a tournament skier.
  12. Finally got my Carbitex boots broke in and love them. Same day I almost ran my 1st -32 loop I feel forward at 3 ball at -28 and my back foot came out to the ankle then stopped in the rear boot (RFF). I have been following the guidelines of tight bottom looser top to the point of being able to pull it out on the dock if needed after tightening the same as I would for skiing Each time I finish my set I can take off top laces and pull foot out without popping boa snap. Having said that from what I described it was the top the prevented my foot from coming out so it was the culprit that was too tight right? Last thing I will say is in general I tuck and roll if it's a bad fall and don't come out of the previous Vapor boots which makes me think I don't want to come out. Also in the back of my mind coming out makes it more likely to partially come out??? I have not had any falls like that yet in the Carbitex just tipping over in the apex or pulling off the ball and not being able to hang on.. Any other tips you've found to stay safe?
  13. Manon!!! Will radar have a booth this year? I went last year and they did not - I was bummed they didn't.
  14. What is a good option to the radius type bent handle Randy made/makes? I need out break out my and nee a new back up. Is Randy officially out of business and what is a good floating option? I really like the curved shape.
  15. Supposed to be some great climbing at Skaha!
  16. Boy I really want one! I love my 2017 Vapor but there have been about 3 really good videos with a lot of info about the changes made in the 2018 model that sound too good to pass up! @Horton what to say.................Can you comment on both the core flex and the finish of the turn (do you notice it) as well as the increased roll to be able to get the ski on edge easier that was described?
  17. I'm glad @RLW chimed in from an actual ortho perspective. HUGE difference from cuff tear and a Total replacement in terms of functional outcomes. I have treated many total replacements in the PT clinical setting and not one would ever be able to slalom ski at discharge. I will say however as a huge caveat, none of them were in shape as a prior level of function. The comment about the power vest is interesting as an assistive device. Also if you can have fun at 32mph and -22 there would obviously be a lot less traction forces on the joint but I would still let your ortho who sounds familiar with being towed behind boats make that call.
  18. @DW I don't but can find out tomorrow am when we get our swerve on. Ikb I know he lived in Fla many years ago.
  19. @Chef23 it is a kit car but bad ass never the less. I have skied with him for about 4 years now and he always talks about it, so it was cool to see and hear it fire up for the 1st time!
  20. Not every day you see a D3 water ski in the back of a Cobra! My ski mentor Dave Maitland's main rig broke down so he opted to bring the hot rod out rather than miss a ski day!
  21. -25 loop has helped me nail -28 just about every set. Closer to 28 than 22 and allows you a little more space and time to perfect everything that has been described here. 99% these guys grew up on a private ski lake or at least skiing buoys from a very early age so it's pretty easy for them to run this line length and do what has been described but it takes a lot of reps. Also don't think of too many things at once going into your pass 1) Get up on the boat farther as stated many times,..with a progressive pull out and drop in toward gates -don't kill it. This will result is crazy angle putting you early into 1 ball to Finish your turn at the ball and Not start your turn at the ball 2)Keep a long straight back . arm, but the trick is don't get lean locked.....rather allow the ski to release and get an early edge change ** while keeping long, locked in back arm all the way out bound. At -22 you can get away with a lot of mistakes at -25 and -28 you get late and eventually your body pays for it.
