  1. I think they started using "196" in 2002 which creates the main down side of owing a year 2001 ski nautique- I have to constantly explain " no it's not a Nautique 2001 it's a year 2001 ski nautique"
  2. Warm it up down there, boys, I'm booked at Cory's the last week of March!
  3. The conditions there always look challenging but I love watching and I thinks it's great entertainment. I like watching the "average joe" conditions and wonder what the sport would be like if more tournaments were held on public waters.
  4. Ah yes.. Wing or no wing http://www.ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/4794/bob-lapoint-on-wings/p1
  5. E928.4 external constriction caused by hair leading to submersion while waterskiing
  6. I would say 1) trx atomic pushups with hands resting on indo board 2) trx row 3) indo board squats.
  7. Same as OB i dont have studies but I looked at a former pit ski lake last year as a potential purchase. Similar dimensions to the one you're looking at. At one point there were multiple tournament skiers who would train there and they gradually moved to other lakes. They took the course out several years ago due to non- use. The fishermen on the lake all agreed the water quality was much better when the skiers were there.
  8. @PurdueSkier‌ I will be offended if you don't come ski with me @kcslaloms exactly! Where do you ski? @Erik4c‌ I think an 8 buoy course will be perfect on this lake.
  9. @AB I don't think so. The lake has attracted more non-skiers than skiers, but the slalom course is deeded to the lake (i looked at another lake where the course was removed by a 50% homeowner vote) it has a well to keep it full and can be drained for maintenance. 9 lots total on the lake- only 3 families (including mine) that ski. I should get plenty of ski time. Only downside it the setup is short but my next best option would be a 90 minute drive.
  10. As mentioned in my signature line, I think this slalom addiction results in some pretty irrational decision making! Some of you remember me as the winner of the BOS sweepstakes a few years back (@horton actually called my house! My wife was both scared and impressed!) Not long after I knew it was time to get a proper slalom boat to go along with the ski, and along came @krlee with a boat I had shipped half way across the country to serve as the official crashman towboat. Fast forward to today, and somehow I find myself closing on a ski lake lot 20 minutes from my house. So thanks Horton for the "free" ski. It might be the most expensive "free" ski ever made! I've tried to explain all this to friends and family, but it just never makes sense to them. Here's hoping that more water time= faster progress. And if any ballers are driving I-69 between Indy and Ft Wayne stop off at exit 245 for a pull! (once the ice melts, that is)
  11. The indianapolis news stations should be all over Nate. When was the last time Indiana had a world record athlete? Time to send some messages to the sports directors.
  12. Great thread @horton this should be in the classic thread section. Can't wait to apply some of these tips- I'm moving from a short setup to an even shorter setup so it looks like a decrease in base RPM is in order! Every time somebody new drives my boat I have to remind them not to pin the throttle
  13. @ctsmith nice looking boat! She's got a lot of sets left in her!
  14. isn't the "barebones boat" we're talking about the Gekko GTS20? Gekko website says it starts around 30k. I still think if my budget were 30k I would buy a well equipped boat that's a few years old especially since most slalom guys tend to be rather OCD about their watercraft. But if I'm wrong and the Gekkos go flying off the shelf and dent the market then good for them!
  15. Why's everybody gotta hate on the N? You're gonna make her self conscious!
  16. Are we in the "golden days" of the slalom boat industry? All big 3 now have beautiful boats with great hulls that have great wakes from -15 all the way up the line, plus Centurion has a great option for those who need a tractor at a lower price, and gekko is getting back into it too. Seems like in 10 years I will have lots of good options for a 10 year old used boat.
  17. @6balls I would wonder the same thing. This lot on Hawthorn Lake west of indianapolis has been on the market since 2011-started at $85k now down to $55k. If I lived a little closer to it I would buy it just to have lake rights. For me once ski lake real estate falls below the price of a new boat it becomes tempting but it would be an investment in happiness not financial. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Real_Estate&postid=25528 For me the only buildable ski lake close enough to where I work is right on the interstate- I could almost spray the semis coming around 6 ball which I'm sure further kills the resale and plus its a real short setup but every time I see a house there for sale I get damn tempted.
  18. I think it works in an area where you have a group of clubs with members who like to ski at each others' clubs, and probably wouldn't charge each other anyways, but are looking for a system to keep things fairly even.
  19. Ony other thing I do is surf and I do it because a) it doesn't take much energy after I've already skied and b) I can drink a beer while doing so.
  20. This thread is making want to buy a lot on a private ski lake
  21. There is potential for this idea. You could have some type of "buy in" from a group of skiers who all agree to participate in this new currency. Maybe a certain amount donated to melanoma research gets you 5 coins and a shirt.
  22. @wish that looks really fun. I like how the broho guys always enjoy themselves no matter what conditions.
  23. The black factory pads on the Moombas are notorious for deteriorating and getting black stuff all over your feet and boat. Like others have said you can rip it off and get a sea deck pad. They actually make one with the "moombaroo" logo- pop over to the moomba forum to see pictures of them and sometimes you can instigate a group buy in the spring.
  24. I envision more of a flow rider application- where instead of using a boat the jetted water moves underneath the skier. This polar vortex has us dreaming big- or maybe just going insane.
  25. We use this class of antibiotics extremely rarely in children because of the side effects mentioned above, but I see it more commonly prescribed by urgent care centers. This is where it really benefits you to have a physician who knows you well and the type of activities in which you participate.
