  1. I'm a believer in coenzyme Q 10- seems to speed muscle recovery but it could be placebo effect.
  2. @buski I'll let you know when I try it. My wife likes to ski but she's not addicted to the speed the way most of us are, and I have a 66 year old dad who I think would ski more if it were easier on his body- deep water starts are really hard on him. I hate to see him fishing instead of skiing. When we're not at the ski club we often visit the local reservoir which has a speed limit so I think the Satori might hit the spot for some postcourse enjoyment.
  3. Bump! Anybody try the satori yet? I have one on the way for my wife for her birthday and I'll bet interested to give it a ride.
  4. @OB I will trade you my grip for your body position! @Than_Bogan good advice about being patient. I put soooo much pressure on myself last year to advance the boat speed that it definitely hurt me at times. This year my goal is primarily advance my body position and let the boat speed come when it does... Though I really really really want to taste 34 mph
  5. That looks like the most beautiful place on earth to ski. I must ski there before I die. I'll leave the analysis to the experts.
  6. Do you guys agree with Markings body position as a good example of a dry land stacked position?
  7. Also wanted to add that this company has great customer service. The first unit I received had been handled a little rough by the fedex man- I sent an email and they shipped me a new one right away.
  8. My dry land training falls into what @kcswerver was getting at in the other thread- demonstrate what I think is a good position or technique then ask for feedback. I learned a lot from the other thread so I'm glad you posted it KC. Ankle bend has been kind of an afterthought for me. I've been playing around with the balance board and seeing how shifting my body position affects my center of gravity.
  9. @ShaneH good stuff thanks for sharing. I'm going to think about that and the Chris Rossi bit about pushing the handle down next time I go out and see where it leads me. @aswinter05 you and I are starting the 15 off no shame video club to pester these guys all season long.
  10. @eddie_roberts_jr what you say is very true but as a skier whose main aspiration is to progress in the course I'm not going to take advice from somebody who claims to run the course at 28 off but doesn't ski the gates. There are many better skiers on this site telling me to do it a different way. I'm certainly not going to let him tell me that 32 mph is for girls- especially since some of the best technique I've seen is in the female skiers so I'd be happy to ski like a girl anyways. @bakinblak you have passion and you keep things interesting and I respect that, and it sounds like you've progressed a ton from the youtube video I see you posted last August so kudos to you. Skiing is really about having fun I just think when you are offering advice it's impolite to claim to be more of an expert than you are. And the truth is I can ski the course at -38 36mph I just skip the gates along with 2 and 4, and 6 ball.
  11. I think it would be nice if somebody could make some video narratives and post them on their page. @bakinblak ?
  12. bout dang time to get it started in central Indiana! air temp 60s water temp mid 40s. Really windy- felt like I weighed 300 pounds with the dry suit and headwind but it was nice to get out
  13. "Bump up the speed to 34 anything less is for girls" says the guy who admits in a different thread that he never skis through the gates
  14. Just ordered my ski doc. Now I can post all kinds of ugly videos for you guys this summer.
  15. I sometimes sing to myself when I ski... " oh won't you... Lay it on the line!!"
  16. It gets a little busy between Deerfield and the dam but upstream of lafollette you'll always be able to find glass. Last year we stayed at flat hollow- you can ski in the back of that cove and the whole week there were only us and some footers using it. I don't think I made it on the water before noon the entire week.
  17. The one I attempted was near the dam just up big creek. Somewhere I have an epic fail video of me attempting to ski it behind the V-drive. Upstream on the Powell River arm you find glass all day every day. I actually welcome the chance to ski open water on a lake more than 2000 ft long. You could always bring along a portable course.
  18. Norris Lake @zman. I've been to Cumberland too and it's awesome just couldn't find a cabin on the water
  19. Cumberland is tits if you can swing a houseboat. We have small kids so we didn't feel comfortable with the houseboat. We stayed here 2 yrs ago only downside is a crapload of steps down to the water http://mobile.vrbo.com/284336
  20. Hey @aswinter05 the last 2 years we've taken a group of 3 families down to Norris Lake TN. Rented a big house- It's beautiful and you can get a house on the water with a covered boat slip or two. 6 hrs from Indy right off 75. . There are a few slalom courses on the lake but the one I found was made out of bleach bottles and milk jugs. Check out vrbo. Like skihacker said you just need a mirror and the lake patrol leave you alone unless you're being a major idiot. Take a handheld GPS wih you if you go.
  21. Calling for 8-12" of snow in central IN tomorrow. Water temp was 60s last year at this point. I've polished the nautique so much that I had to turn to shining up the gt-40 too. Now I'm not sure what else to polish- maybe the trailer?
  22. At 155-160 lbs I've skied on a 67" senate 28-32mph and it's about right. I have a 66" Vice and it wants to go faster so speed the boat up this summer I must ( and drop to 150#)
  23. @crazy180 welcome to the addiction. I'm sure somebody much much much more knowledgeable than me will give you tips to make your first full past. @Horton isn't there a writeup around here somewhere about getting into the course for the first time? I remember referencing it when I started but I can't find it now. The main thing is make sure you get your first pass on video and don't throw you fist so high in the air that you fall going through the exit gates like I almost did.
  24. @aswinter05 Colts color boat- go for it!
