  1. Decent thread on this a while back http://www.ballofspray.com/forum#/discussion/4794/bob-lapoint-on-wings/p1
  2. I don't really use PEDs for skiing at my level, but I DO tend to use skiing for performance enhancement in other areas of my life. My performance tends to go way up after I ski!
  3. There's a guy at our lake who did exactly what you've described- told me the kids pop right up on it. One thing I've learned with my son is not to hold him back until I think he's ready- if the kid is eager to try then he/she might really surprise you.
  4. There are a few lakes in indiana that have similar rules. I wonder if there is any evidence that these flags actually change the accident rate.
  5. @trickski83‌ where are you located? There may be several older but well cared for boats for sale in my area (central Indiana) soon.
  6. Thanks for posting. I am finding more and more guys at the heart of this sport who ski -15 29-32 mph.
  7. Skied 18 passes yesterday- feeling pretty sore and lazy this AM but my 8 year old who just got up on 1 ski a week or two ago was moving in and out of the wake yesterday and he's begging to go ski the mini course today soooooo it's back to the ski lake we go!
  8. Too bad youtube didn't exist back then
  9. Wind here looks great for tomorrow- I'm hoping to ski until my arms fall off. If anyone's travels take you up I-69 at exit 245 stop in for a holiday set!
  10. @Jody_Seal‌ funny you should mention that because I did that unintentionally last night- forgot that I had shortened the rope for the kids kneeboarding rides. It took me a few passes to have success at what is usually my warm up speed. I thought i skied like crap until i got in the boat and noticed the15 off section sitting in front of the pylon. It definitely got me to focus. I might get totally crazy and slow it down a little more and try -28.
  11. Here's the newest slalom addict in the crashman family!
  12. @Chef23 @Than_Bogan‌ combination of your advice was money tonight! Especially keeping that leading elbow pinned on my offside- I had a pass where I lost track of which side was on vs offside instead of my usual " hammer the onside to survive the offside" Very excited! Thanks guys.
  13. That will be a neat day when my oldest can mow the lawn and drive the ski boat
  14. @Than_Bogan‌ awesome summation of potential issues. I had never paid attention to the preturn until this spring when Dan Odvarko told me to "stand taller" in the preturn after which I found immediate improvement. So for me that piece of advice is a gem. Now if I could stay on the damn handle a little longer.
  15. There are lots of lakes in indiana that would make good ski lakes but allow "electric motors only". They dont say anything about speed or type of boat. You might be able to get some pretty good skiing in behind an electric nautique before they are able to introduce new legislation to prevent it!
  16. If you read a book that tells you exactly how to parent your child that book is wrong- it doesn't know your child.
  17. @oldjeep‌ how is that on the liquor budget?
  18. My boys won't let me end a ski session without finishing with a hot lap. That's kind of hard on the fuel too but so much fun.
  19. Also consider masterline at. http://www.lakesatcottonwood.com/cottonwood_shop.htm Like waternut said buy one that's pretty standard then fine tune from there.
  20. My (former) ski partner is in this same situation- in need of a knee replacement and told he should never ski again. The not skiing /inactivity is literally killing him.
  21. @chrisrossi that's funny you mention ski size as a wt management strategy because my sole motivation for maintaining my current weight is so I don't outgrow my 66" vice.
  22. And here's my dad- still enjoying the sport he taught me to love.
  23. Any attempt by your ski partner to explain a missed pass by using an extrinsic suck factor can quickly be neutralized by the response"That wouldn't bother Nate Smith" example: driver: "you just barely missed 6 ball!" Skier: "I know! I started my pass in a head wind and then it just barely shifted about the same time I hit that huge push roller coming around five" Driver : "well that wouldn't have bothered Nate!"
  24. I think the edge on each side of the swim platform would bug me when putting the ski on but it's cool that they are still invested in the direct drive ski boat. I was sad to see the moomba outback go away.
