  1. @horton how did I miss the beginnig of this thread - just backed up and saw the pics you posted...ruined me for the day...
  2. Handle control into the turn, let ski come around while maintaining speed through the turn, let hips come back to the handle and get stack as the boat picks me up at the white water. Like @sb_dc_mbs_13 said - by doing the above - don't break at the waist on off side - got a little dinged up myself by doing that last July. Anxious to get back in the game! Also - glad to be back in the south again - many more sets this year! Last - find some ski partners in south GA!
  3. @6balls I will second Waterski Costa Rica as a great destination. Jim can certainly make this a great family vacation. He will work with all levels of skiers and like @mikeski said - plenty of things to do in the afternoons - like zip lining, river boating, and much more. As noted - best to contact jim@waterskicostarica and fill him on what you are looking for. He will try to pick the right week and activities for you. I got some great coaching and had a blast!
  4. Anyone here still feel good about the work out and conditioning you get from the Concept 2 Rower?
  5. Anywhere within an inch or so should be good?
  6. @Gloersen - Just in case you or anyone else where to need a new distributor, I have one from back in my selling PCM parts days that is still in the shrink wrap. Would sell this very cheap just to get rid of it. Have a few other parts left over as well...
  7. HO makes a pair called the World Cup. They have a double padded Amara palm. I like to use some Kevlar palms gloves - but they are hard on my hands and on my handle. Like @Alberto said about the Progear - I did not think these would last long not being Kevlar - but they do last a long time, stitching last too. And, they are very good at protecting the hands. Only 40 bucks too at Performance Ski
  8. As I come back this spring from an ATR injury/surgery (with Animals), I am debating between the new Reflex with the R-style rear, or double Stradas. Leaning toward the Reflex - but this will be my first dive into using a hard shell. Anyone here that has good experience with both? Thoughts?
  9. Seth definitely keeps it fun there! Great coaching and a good time among other students encouraging and helping each other. Look forward to getting back there sometime this spring!
  10. @OB - good luck! And, enjoy the 'southern' beers.
  11. Def like the Tube. Several folks commented what a pain it is to pack, and even worse - the tough time the airport folks have putting it back together. What I found that really helps is to pack your ski, your gear, towels shorts, etc in a light weight ski bag (from performance ski). Then the ski bag packs easily into the tube and makes it easy for TSA to put back together. The ski bag and all your soft gear also provides some added shock proofing. Ski bag is handy also if you can't fit the hard tube inside a small rental car. Many times I can't get the Tube in a rental, but after taking the soft bag out, the soft bag will fit OK and still keep all the gear together....
  12. Like the majority, I had checked Second Wake since my most violent, high speed, ass over tea kettle, complete yard sale falls used to be there. But, considering my only two sorta serious injuries came right out of the turn, I had to change my vote.
  13. Cool - just the videos I need as I prepare to come back from ATR surgery! lol At least I now have a clear image of things I don't wanna do (but probably will).
  14. Did Casad make any skis? Or, just barefoot booms, handles and other accessories?
  15. I would like to try the AM to make my own AM / Goode comparison. But, here is a vid of CP when he was still new with riding a Goode. Compare the two videos and be curious what others think of his style on one versus the other. Of course, CP could ride a snow ski through the course..
  16. @ScaredOfCorbets Are you asking to choose between "head / valve job"? Hmmmmm.....
  17. Any thoughts or opions on how smooth CP looked on the AM versus how smooth he looks in footage when on his Goode ski? Maybe someone can post one of several record setting or tieing vids from the Ski Ranch with CP on a Goode just for comparison.
  18. @lavy4purdue Follow the advice of @ktm300 and get legal counsel. Many jurisdictions are required to purchase your land before imposing right of eminent domain. I have been in your situation - much smaller stakes and no lake. Almost all jurisdictions will use 3rd parties to play hard ball with you and try to get your land for a steal and use so called "rules of thumb" for valuing your property. Thats where a good lawyer can be a big help. I did OK on my own, but again had so much less at risk. Get help and fight for a fair value.
  19. Water 41, air low 60's. Probably not happening again...
  20. @MattP - you're so right. I shopped for two months; scoured satellite images every where from Valdosta to Tifton looking for a place to ski - nothing and no one. Good thing my wife is a great driver! Found a home at Forest Lake - which just barely has a 2000 foot straight run. I think it will work out well - it has to, this is all there is down here. They did open a cable park in Valdosta, The father of the young man managing the park hopes to make an existing lake a lil longer/wider and set up slalom, but may be a few years away. Definitely plan to stop by sometime! Have to get you and @OB to come by. (No ZO yet - 2007 RLxi with PP Pro).
  21. Evolve has been in my work lap top since it came out (except for an occassional play on the big screen. Great for buisness travel. I wore out my first EIW 1, literally. Called the folks up and they shipped me a new one for free! Love both vids.
  22. Hey @MattP - yes. I'm just down the road from you guys. In '08 I skied on Wed evenings while working in Atlanta (and living in Mobile). Skied with the gang up on Lake Acworth. Just moved into home in Tifton at Forest Lake. No course yet. @OB is trying to come up with a portable to borrow until I anchor in a course.
