  1. A second thought. If we add the componet to attract more people into the sport Paralell slalom migth be more intresting to the non waterskiing audience. I also promote to describe the actual line lenght instead of how much was taken off.
  2. Would it be equally diddicult to ski a full pass at 30mph 15off as full pass at 28mph 22off? Could those two passes get same score? I would like to see such rule in this new rule book.
  3. @borditup. I like the statment Run until failure. However, Could we word it: Success is when you reach the point of failure? That is a more positive approach that makes me more happy when I fails. One must also consider that the course is the same accross our globe. Every single skier can compare results .... Type 100 000 skiers will always be better than me. That is something I have to live with.
  4. Since I am a beginer and only seen one tournament and been in one fun adhoc race I will tell my story and ask if some one can make some rules out of this. The planned race was canselled and I was a guest at Nyköpings VSK for training. But since they had got one guest they decided to run it anyhow -sligethly against my desire. The rules was set to make me happy. First round set the base line. Each skier gets six passes. Entrance gates was optional as long as you tried to resonable close to them. I made 6 at 26,7mph 15 off so this was my target to beat second round. After lunch each skier got six more passes. I failed 3 times but got 6 at 26,7 forth time. Then made my first 28 (all six) and then very tired 0,5 on 30. This gave me 6,5 Points improvement. It took me 9 weeks amd 30 sets to repeate my 28 mph. I have also managed one full pass on 26mph 22 off. That was actually easier and more fun than the 28mph. Can one compare a shortening to one higher speed? So in order to attract me to race again most of these should be fullfilled. Sorry for wording and typos. Writing on a small mobile.
  5. Great subject. Who will be the target group? Personally since I am not so much of a competing person there must be something in it for me. Pros might need strict rules similar to current system. The audience needs something easier to understand. Folks like me might get attracted to a handicap system like in golf but taking age in considiration?
  6. I just ski because it is fun and great training. Do not think I will never compete. My goal is to do 22 off at 34 or 32 and assume I reach that it will not be sufficient in any race. I just managed a few 28 the other day and I think that this is great since I started ski at age 52 and am now on my third seson. Last week I also tried 22 off for the second time and made a complete 26 mph. And I do not have any problems with the entry gate. Just pretend it isnt there. Sometimes I go through it by misstake. All of this counts as sucess and satisfaction for me.
  7. Radar Theory is also a great ski. Slightly larger than the Triumph. Even the Radar P6 will get you through the corse at short line at this speed. Vector is a really comfortable binding. Best luck and keep us posted on your progress.
  8. Mercury and Mercrusier has the Smart Craft system. There is a resonable accurate fuel consumption in one of the meters. I have this on my outboard but it is supposed to be identical on the inboards. I would assume that system can be used for those engines. We use a very accurate simple old fasion system in our club. Each member brings his own can and then we change cans for each skier. Personally I would prefere an identifier (pin,cc or similar) thath trigger a measurment and send a mail to google docs with my fuel depth. Modern boats should have this as an option.
  9. An advice from another beginer! Well trained is very important. Keep on losing weight and strenghten core. But try to spend a lot of time on the water. This is the best way to improve having fun also. Stop skiing when you get to tred to avoid injuries and bad habits. In Sweden, best case we can ski from early May to earle October. Personally I try to ski many passes per set due to I cannot ski so many days as I would like to. It is so fun. Since I start from a low level I progress fast. I also consider this to be a great work out. Monday I skied one run with stupied 16 passes. I got 5 full passes around 27mph (pb 1/2 at 30). In the end I tried 3 passes on 22 off just for fun and I made one full pass more. 22 off at 26+ was fun. Will try this again. This story is supposed to encourage you to strech you limits while havivg fun on and off the water. Best luck Peter
  10. An advice from an intermediate skier. Get one Slalom ski with a comfortable binding. The Radar P6 is a great ski. Radar Vector is a really great front binding. Any RTP as rear will do great. Look at www.ski it again or get a new when they are on sale. Just check so you get the correct size For exanple 65" Brst luck and keep us updated on your progress

  12. @webbdawg99 Skiing Wife! Lucky you! If I could get my wife skiing I would by her almost anything. My humble advice is a bit different than the pros. I base it on advices from many fellow skiers and a few coaches plus also my own experiences. I think one learn much faster and develop the correct posision on a less advanced ski. Ok you will hopefully need to make some upgrades over the years to come. But I would regard this as a benefit! You will then get the opprotunity to really increase her motivation by providing accurate feedback. Darling, you now ski so well that you need a more advanced ski. And you can then do it several times =0) I propose type a Radar P6 until she can do the course at 26 consistently. Then a type Radar Theory until 30/32 consistently. After this she will have her own opinion. Lyric Bindings are super comfortable. Best luck and please keep us posted on the story!
  13. Thank you all for adding your history. I am impressed that so many learned so quick. And also that there was so many First Attempt-Pros out there. It is really fun to read. It is about time I add my history since I started the Poll =0) Did some summer house skiing as kid starting at age eight 1966. Unfortunately one a few minutes per year in really bumpy water. Then skiied a few sets every third year until I was type 30 when I had a 10 years break. At 40 I bought my first SL ski (Connely Mid -S, Big Daddy) and then skiied a few sets per year. 2010 I went out to the local club and asked if they could train me to manage the corse. Bought my Radar Theory and started training. - 2010: 12 Sets - 2011: 31 Sets - 2012: 52 Sets and in end summer I managed my first pass at 26. Managed to repete it 10 times during the autoum. - 2013: has 24 sets now. Ski 26-28 (43,44,45,46 Km/h) and are starting to make 3 sucessfull passes in each set. Please keep on telling your stories!
  14. I hope this poll (with Poll: 'When did you start..') will support beginers to get a grip of: How hard can it be? Yepp, it is difficult to remeber. Please take a walk down memory lane and make a best guess? In this poll a set is 6 passes.
  15. =>70. One newer know . I did not mean you have to manage the course. Just train in one.
  16. The definition of 'begin more seriously' is in this poll: - Availability to a sufficiently strong boat, reasonable lake conditions and some type of SL course. - Availability to a SL ski, a driver and sufficiently time to ski at least 10 set that season. All prerequsites considered what was normal those days.
  17. Hi @eleeski Just back from a training session in Italy (http://waterskiitaly.com) There was a guy doing incredible tricks with many different flips. Then he broke his ski totally. He didn't give up so he took a slalom run (he had not been skiing for a long time) . He did all six at 13meter. When he checked the ski the wing was hanging up side down totally loose on only the back end screw. Next day when he fixed the wing he made five at 12meter. Best luck healing fast!
  18. @waterskigirl Maybe yuo know more? ??? I find three different 2mm Camaro longsuites ??? Camaro Open Cell Wesuit - 2mm http://robbysskishop.com/camarospeedskinmensshorty-1-1-1.aspx Camaro Titanium Open Cell Overall Waterski Wesuit - 2mm http://www.sierratradingpost.com/camaro-titanium-open-cell-overall-waterski-wesuit-2mm-for-men~p~5764m/ Camero titanium 2mm long suit No longer available What is the difference? SIERRA IS VERY CHEAP TODAY....
  19. Broken ribs heal faster than cracked ribs. The body simply priortize so. Last year i did crack three ribs in the lower back. They normally heal in 3-6 weeks depending on your age. I am old but waited plus 4 weeks. It hurts a bit but i could ski anyway. Got me the radar cga west in order not to have more future problems. It is actually sufficient Confortable skiing at my level. Best luck Peter
  20. Sandström combo ski on memory lane boat hose wall. Ski from 1966. We had a Cresent sport boat with a 35 hp Mercury. Handle also from 1966.
  21. Sandströms trick ski from type 1967 and Reflex from 1964
  22. Same type of problem. Tried many cures. Not found a working one yet. I train reguarly on intermadiate level. The more I train the harder I ski. I do not know how fix it. My last years training: - Bike to work T/R 10 miles per day 180 days per year (even in snow) - Gym (Core, Cross Fit, Yoga, Body pump etc) 2 times a week (1 time when sking) - Snow sking type 25 days this seson (GS and SL and free sking). - Open water swiming 20 times (half mile up to almost a full mile) - Water sking 50 sets - Streching daily So my lower back pain remains the same (or get sligetly worse). =0((
  23. I consider the Panasonic HX WA 03 or 30. My prios are - Techncical: Water prof, durable, sufficient zoom for sports, long battery time, slow motion in HD. - Operation: Simple to operate I am not sure about the picture stabilization. That are ofcourse important but not available as a parameter. Consider also the more expensive Cannon 66 but have not found out enough about that one yet.
  24. We have a few 100 000 Elks in Sweden but I have never read about anyone get killed by an Elk? I agree, they are big and run fast and I can imagine them being agressive. I have meet a few wild ones just as close as 20 yards away. I try to calm back of from where I came from....
  25. Hi @teammalibu We eat them also with pleasure but there are no hunting allowed in the city area. By the way, Do you normally ski with a rifle ;0)
