  1. i don't know guys, when i bought my ps 2 months ago, we tested it out on a lake that 5 minutes before we skied, a 5 foot alligator jumped into the water right off the friggin dock. Yes, it is true that i have all my limbs still, but that can't be good for your psyche day in and day out, wondering if today is the day that a gator is going to get you!
  2. I put about 250k mqm's in per year and I travel all over the country. If I had the flexibility, I would go to either Dallas or Nashville. The weather rocks in either place and there are tons of places to ski in both. There are also ample other activities in either place. If I had to pick one, it would be Dallas. Florida is awesome but the alligators scare the hell out of me! I do have to give a shout out to Utah. We ski 9 to 10 months out of the year and if u like to snow ski, it can't be beat. The ski clubs in Utah are pretty amazing I must say.
  3. I was the one who took the post off track, but in my defense, I was really curious! Most of you guys are fantastic skiers--I ski with Chipman and he literally blows me away with how incredible he is and how easy he makes it look. I still haven't got the full answer, although I appreciate the education of star wars. One day I will figure all of u out, but until then, I will just keep trying to learn. Sorry if I caused any stress in my post--it wasn't my intent. Please remember though, I am from Utah and I have a lot of kids to keep track of....lots and lots!!!!
  4. The northern states suck as well as Utah in regards to winters. The problem we are having is the shallow water. Last week I literally was starting in 18 inches of water. And being 6 foot 7, that is just shallow. Scot and I keep looking at lake levels daily praying that it goes up even 6 inches before it freezes over.
  5. @horton. K, being a new member here I need to ask a point of clarification. Are u the guy in the pictures? I thought it was u telling the story about the drunk lady. Then I go to YouTube and see a teenager getting interviewed by Seth swisher--who also looks like the dude in the ski review pictures. Please realize I am from Utah so with all the wives taking my mental capacity I am just a bit slow. Please help me understand!
  6. My good friend is the ortho for the university of Utah football team. I read him your post and this is what he said. "With how good medicine is now, the replacements are as good as the original and if he blows it out again they will simply do the procedure again." I get cortisone shots in my hip joint every few months--in fact I am getting one Thursday. I have had a complete ankle reconstruction three times and when it gets bad, I simply do the procedure again. I wish him the best of luck. Medicine nowadays is incredible and it keeps getting better and better. I would tell him to ski away.
  7. I went thru a set of that. I am doing cross fit training now and trying to watch what i eat. I am steadily dropping so I am not too worried about getting to where I need to be. Sad thing is that Scot Chipman is the same age as me and to look at him you would think you were looking at a 22 year old kid on steroids!!! If we were both bald, he could be my mini me! (And yes, I would pay a beelion dollars to ski like Scot) :)
  8. @jipster43. Oh, Scot has been phenomenal for me. I am proud to report that he has pulled 38 off behind my little PS. More than that, you will not meet a nicer more humble guy than Scot. He has in essence taken me under his wing--and even after seeing me ski!! I assure you, I am working every angle possible to get in early. :) I have transformed my garage into a new work out facility. In fact, I should post some pics of my new temple. I am worshipping daily!!
  9. I am down in LA County 3 times per month. If any of you want a third that likes to chip in for costs, let me know and I am there.
  10. I was actually thinking of getting one. I have torn my shoulders apart--from football, not from skiing. I have to go under the knife this winter to replace a torn labrum in my left and I have been under the knife several times for my right shoulders' rotator cuff. Is there a way you could use the benefits of the straps without the bulkiness of the rest of the set up?
  11. Hi all, brand new to this site and brand new to short-line skiing. Grew up skiing all the time and then life set in. I am now 44 years old and I just dropped 70 pounds (Apparently eating for the last 20 years like I did when I played college football has a bad effect on ones physique) and have caught this incurable bug for skiing again. I have looked for a local chapter of SSA (Slalom Skiing Anonymous) but I have had no luck, so I am continuing to give in to the dark side. In the last year I have Skied 3 to 4 times per week 10 months out of the year...Utah. (I am getting sick and tired of telling people I am going skiing and have them ask me what mountain I am going to). I am in the process of selling my 26 foot doral go-fast boat with a 496 with a blower. I bought a 2004 PS 197 that I picked up in Florida this year...after testing is out in crocodile infested waters. I bought a slalom course that i have assembled and disassembled numerous times. I am on the wait list for the local ski club, and I am killing myself off in the gym to lose that final 30 pounds so I can get to 230. I am so grateful to have found a site with other addicts like me. You have given me great ammo to share with my wife....she thinks I am going thru a mid-life crisis...if only she knew it was so much more than that. I am still waiting to make my first legitimate pass thru the Holy Grail, but I can promise you one thing, I am here to stay. I am looking forward to getting to know you guys and the first lesson I have learned is this: if I get a girl drunk on wine and have her try to get out of my boat, I will put a damn ladder out for her so she doesn't bounce!! Doug
