  1. Awesome @albertosoares, thanks for the info!
  2. Wow, nice rock @cragginshred‌ , apparently there is not much waterskiing in the Monterrey area but at least my buddy can do some casual free climbing! ;)
  3. Are there any Ballers in or around Monterrey Mexico? My ski partner is going there on business this week and would love to scratch the ski itch if possible (winter came with a vengeance in Upstate NY!) He is a great guy and would of course compensate for a tug with at least the 2 basic fluids required for a successful ski: gas and beer On the flip side if any Baller finds themselves in the Rochester NY area between may 1st and Oct 31st and needs a tug, please look us up! Thank you!
  4. Wow, thanks for all the input! I think I am leaning towards a cantilever style after weighing the pros and cons.......really like the idea of no wieght on cables etc in the up position, and our lake stays at a pretty consistent level as well. The Basta units look really nice.....hadn't thought I was old enough yet to get a powered unit, I might come under some fire from my ski buddies ;) I know the Hewitt would serve my needs fine, i think i will look into these 2 units. We are in Upstate NY........I wonder if there is a local Basta dealer around? They seem to have a big West Coast presence
  5. So I am in the process of finalizing the purchase of my first lake property and need to start from scratch with docks and a hoist etc........it seems locally that Shorestation vertical lifts have a big presence and are easily available, but one of my ski buddies is recommending a Hewitt cantilever lift. Would love some input from the Ballets on this before I go shopping. Pros? Cons?
  6. I have a 07 lxi and my buddy has a 12 txi, the txi is is a huge step ahead in both tracking and softness of wake (still love my lxi though!) Can't go wrong with any of the new slalom tugs, but the txi is hard to beat as a tournament ski boat that doubles as a great family boat. Also I think it has the best exhaust note compared to the competition.......must have less baffling, but that Indmar sounds great!

    Boat "funk"

Thanks guys, a lot of great ideas here! Loving the simple green and fabric softener idea!
  8. Just wanted to send a shout out to George Vosburgh and family, true Ambassadors to the sport of waterskiing and just plain salt of the earth good people! We just spent this weekend camping and skiing at Pangaea Puddle in Canajoharie NY, what an awesome ski venue, 2 pristine ski lakes, glass conditions all day and a 30' rope swing for the kids, a true skiers paradise in Upstate NY! If you have not skied there you need to check it out. Thanks again George!

    Boat "funk"

I have taken a few rollers over the bow and with the rainy, overcast and cool weather we have been experiencing in Upstate NY I haven't been able to fully dry out the interior to my boat, and it has developed a case of general mildew odor or "funk". What have other Ballers done to cure this? I thought about a dilute solution of bleach but will that bleach the carpet?
  10. Also Pangaea Puddle in Canajoharie NY, has electric hookups only but 2 beautiful ski lakes. Just camped there this weekend, had a blast! George Vosburgh and Family are true Ambassadors to this sport.
  11. Just wanted to report back, I did adjust my fin to stock settings and was able to ski this morning to try it out, HUGE improvement!!! Offside is very stable through the wakes and the whole offside turn is much more smooth and consistent then before, much easier to carve a smooth turn and finish with good angle, prior to the adjustment the ski would tend to "slam dunk" the offside turn. I am really feeling foolish to have been so hesitant to try adjusting my fin, I should have checked/ adjusted this 3 years ago!!! If there are any ballers out there that like me, didn't own a set of calipers, and really didn't know anything about fin adjustment, learn from my mistake! Borrow or buy some calipers and check your fin, you could be skiing at a serious dis
  12. Thank you @deano and @ab, I will adjust everything to stock and see what happens....let the tweaking begin!
  13. @gregy I am 6'-4" 190lbs on a 2011 68" radar vice. You raise a really good point about position on the ski/ bent at the waist. I have really been working on my offside stack but still struggle with breaking at the waist and I am sure that is part of the problem. Lot's of stuff to work on.....I love this sport!!!
  14. So I checked my fin and stock should be D 2.505/ L 6.843/ DFT .755 and binding 29-7/8" my binding is right on spec but the fin was at 2.555/ 6.752/ .892 so the DFT was way forward. I moved it to .775 and went out for a ski this morning (free ski, no balls) and it made a big difference, much more stable on the offside pull to the wakes. Up until this morning I have been to "scared" to try adjusting my fin...thank you for giving me the info I needed to try it!
  15. Thanks for the feedback guys, I will check my fin tonight, but I know my boots are at the stock setting. One thought I had though is that I have monster feet (size 15) and I wonder if that naturally puts my weight farther forward than normal since the measurement is from the heel of the front boot? I think I might move the boots back 1 hole (radar vector bindings, prob 1/4" per hole) and see how that feels. I am skiing in the morning and will report back what happens.!
  16. Thank you for all the great feedback! Next time out I will use the windshield as my marker and keep working it back if still early, lining up the left hand gate ball and 1 ball sounds interesting as well. Thanks again!
  17. I am a 15 off skier working to make it through a full pass at 34mph (pb is 5 @ 34, curse you 6 ball!!!) So far for practice I tend to cheat the gates and go through early but want to start working on consistently running through the gates. After the pullout to the 2 4 6 line and the glide, what is your point of reference for the turn in for the gate shot? I tried turning in when the bow of the boat crossed through the gate but was still early, maybe when the pylon passes the gates? What is your reference point?
  18. So I have never touched or adjusted my fin from the stock settings (2011 radar vice) but I have noticed recently that on my pullout to drop at the end of the course (offside pull) that the ski tends to porpoise on the way out which is a little unnerving. If I ride the back of the ski it will stop. Should I try a fin adjustment or a skier adjustment?

    Loose pylon

    Awesome, thank you!

    Loose pylon

Thanks for the info guys, @rfa, how do u access the bolts? There is a panel at the front of the engine bay and I can't see how to remove it?

    Loose pylon

I have an 07 malibu response lxi and have noticed the pylon has a little play in it, anyone know what the procedure to tighten it would be?
  22. Conesus NY (finger lakes regionregion just south of Rochester NY)
  23. @smilinjim, how does one go about getting on the list for your Thursday night ski club? I have a couple of friends who ski with you and would love to join you guys if you have a spot open up! I will send you a pm as well.
