  1. Thanks for the feedback guys, this particular parcel we are looking at has a few strikes against it: only 1700' and 60' grade change end to end. I was quoted in rough numbers that it costs $3-4/ yd to move dirt.......doing that math was sobering, @Skoot1123 is this even in the ballpark of what you experienced? The length isn't as much of an issue but we might have to keep looking for a more level parcel.
  2. Cool, thanks for the feedback, I like the dogleg idea as well, would be cool if this works out!
  3. I am looking at a piece of property for a potential ski lake and it looks like we can only get about 1700' in length for the pond which I know is tight.......would we have to do an 8 ball layout to make it work?
  4. Awesome, thanks for the feedback guys, I will pass along this info to my friend!
  5. So I went for a ski the other day with a buddy of mine and on the way to out honey hole the engine cut out and went into limp mode and wouldn't go beyond idle and the dash was flashing "check engine" (this happened after about 1 minute of sustained 4500 rpm) after he turned off the ignition and re started it reset and seemed to be OK. After we got to our ski hole, it cut out again pulling up the first skier. I am assuming maybe a clogged fuel filter is to blame? It only seems to happen at WOT and was fine if we eased up the skier and it would maintain 34 mph OK. The boat is a 05 MC PS 197 with an indmar MCX Any thoughts/ ideas on what the problem is? Thank you!
  6. You will not regret that purchase, congrats!
  7. FWIW my buddy ended up buying a new 2015 Moomba Outback V, definitely a step down in quality, fit and finish compared to the big 3, but it seems like a good value for the dollar ( you get what you pay for) I have not had a chance to ski it yet as he just got it broke in before he had to winterize it, have to wait till spring.
  8. That 1st year vice did have some sweet water ski lifestyle themed graphics: girls, tattoo needles and stacks o' cash baby!!!
  9. I just used this one with pretty good results: " Honey, i dont want to buy a new ski, but i HAVE to on account of our eldest son has outgrown his ski so needs to move up to my current one...........what? You think my ski is to big for him? Naw, a 68" ski is perfect for a 13 year old!!!". ;)
  10. My 07 Malibu Rlxi on the right and my buddies 12 Malibu Txi on the left
  11. We have a shed at the lake and just load the course in the boat each time we use it, takes 5 trips down the dock: 1 for each bundle of pipes (2), 1 for the anchors, 1 for the hose reel/ mainline, and 1 for the ball bags (2 mesh bags) My buddy rigged a strapping system and hangs the pipes in his lift canopy so they are easy to load, just lower them into the boat. Still have to carry the other items though.
  12. Awesome, thank you @old jeep, that is actually the boat my Buddy is looking at
  13. Sorry, I meant to type: moomba outback v, he is hot on a 08 he found for sale but from the pics it looks like its carbureted...... is that possible the that year? Is the moomba worth looking at?
  14. Thanks for all the great input guys, I agree that if he could cough up the extra $$ the Malibu Vtx or sport nautique would be the best bet. I think the Sunscape LSV looks like a viable option for his price range. He is also looking at a Moomba Ou
  15. Hello ballers, looking for some advice for a friend of mine that is in the market for a ski boat. His wife has already laid down the law that it has to be a v drive for the open space and he is not a hard core slalom dude, but does like to ski/ wakeboard etc. His budget is $20-30k and I am suggesting one of the models with a tournament ski hull, but the v drive layout. I know the Sport Nautique is one option, what are the malibu and master craft versions of this? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
  16. I would agree with @wish and @razorskier1, heel lift is not something I think about doing but for me is a natural occurrence as I stand tall before the gate shot or coming into the ball. My Radar Vector rear boot does allow a bit of beel lift though not any sideways movement. I believe my heels are firmly planted everywhere else in the course.
  17. This is awesome @Dacon62 .......I have this same trip in my bucket list, and am very interested in the responses!
  18. 13", I have really big hands, so the extra room is nice
  19. I thought for sure I would get a response with that Nautique quip but I just checked and @web hasnt even visited the site since he signed up!!!
  20. @web is arguably one of the best boat drivers in Upstate NY, and an all around decent human being, even if he does sip the Nautique koolaid! ;)
  21. I just wanted to welcome Ball of Sprays newest member, my ski buddy @web! Go easy on him guys...........
  22. @Brooks, email sent, stoked to ski with you in March!!!
  23. We (group of 4) will be in Clermont skiing from March 5th through 8th and would love to spend a day at The Boarding School......thinking Sunday the 8th......anybody know if they ski on Sundays? How far a drive is it from Clermont?
