  1. Like you said @Wish the announcers aren't judging. They only announced what they were told. You guys pay for an event. Ask the announcers to, above all, avoid saying your company name.
  2. I don't know the boat or the owner, but I do know the market. We're in an area where the inboard ski market is at an all-time low. It's a great place to pick up a mid 90's boat, but anything more recent is few and far between
  3. And there it is. @OB still has it, but it sure looks good in a list. @Jody_Seal has seen me in @Horton state of "insane raging fury" in Axis AL. Probably Milton FL too. Product of setting up a ski in 85 degree water and going to a spring fed lake.
  4. how many times can I hit "Awesome"?
  5. I gave the "insightful " to you @gginco mostly because I wish this thread would die. I finally got to put in some sets on my green before follow up surgery to remove pins. I loved it but I'm reading nothing but magic about the blue. @jimski I hope you hate it. But tell us all about it, so I don't order one of these blue ones before my stitches come out
  6. @Horton does that mean Texas too? Jk I love Texas. I couldn't resist. I would have bet a bunch of pesos on @OB before this one got started. I'm looking for him in the Atlanta airport as we speak.
  7. @LeonL Rodger is the guy to check anything out. He's details to the millimeter. He also knows more skiers in our area than just about anyone. There are several private lakes in our area, so it COULD have lived on one, but I'd check it out. I'm actually mad I put it out here. I want one of my friends to pick it up so I can ski it. Hell, I'd buy it, but then I'd just have a pair.
  8. I'd say breakage is a defect. I'm with @rico , if I personally know of 5 that have broken, and it hasn't even reached market, I'd say I'll wait too. May very well be one of the things they are working on rectifying before release.
  9. @ShaneH I saw the "fellow Goode skiers", just thought it was an oversight. Good luck to him (Greg, if anyone missed) with Goode. He was a great ambassador for HO and a really nice guy. Probably still is a nice guy.
  10. $10,500, original owner, garage kept. 542 hours. Sounds too good to be true. http://mobile.craigslist.org/boa/5031609278.html
  11. @Texas6 it wasn't a crash, at least not from yesterday. Just a hurt back. When he made 1 ball @ -39 he let go. Went down holding his back
  12. Kinda sucks for us, to not have a true "4 contenders final" to watch, and that a lower placing skier can't advance into the slot, but, he did out ski them. He earned it. If he can ski gates and a ball, like @Wish said, it was his spot to be had. Outside of that, it's a 3 man show. Personally, seeing Nate & Freddy into 41 on Robin lake was crazy awesome. I'm ready for tomorrow!
  13. It says enough that there are no pictures of beautiful fiberglass decks. I get that the things are 100% functional. Their function, over a shorter lifespan does not outweigh the aesthetics and long term function with minimum upkeep. At least, not to me. Totally opinion though. I actually like to spend a little time with wood. Gotta say too, my Connelly Hook on the shelf is way prettier than my Vapor. I won't be skiing on that Hook.
  14. This used too be a shopping mall, now it's all mountains and rivers. Teak is pretty. +1 Teak. This should have been a poll
  15. I can't flip anyone off when I wear mine. Only time I use mine anymore is when I haven't skied in a long time(injury) and my Tail 41's aren't enough to keep from ripping off a callous. Super glee the skin back on and throw on a pair of Pro-locks.
  16. Best info I've seen on the bigger skis @A_B .true about the performance cap on the P-6 and Triumph too. I really love what Radar is doing with their top of the line shape, but dialed back materials. Makes world beater shapes available to a skier that doesn't need record capability. I think skiers can feel like they are getting the best, top-of-the-line ski, but dialed to the performance level they actually need. Probably better for the skier's performance too. I've got a man-crush on Radar lately. Ski a Strada or a Vapor, you will too
  17. As for the demo part, I guess you'd have to ask the vendor if they minded you putting the inter lock on their ski.
  18. You can get a plate drilled to mount anything on it. I have a plate now that I can mount anything on and go ski-to-ski. As for a universal plate, I just used the same dual lock/Velcro setup on all of my skis. I used it on my nano one, Strada, and Mapple. All i did was mark the ski where my front boot lines up for my DFT measurement, lined up the front and back to center and used my calipers to get as accurate as reasonably possible and placed the inter-loc tape down. I could take my one set of boots and drop it on any of my 3 skis in a minute or so. Only thing to caution you on there is that the Velcro does have a lifespan, counted in releases. They give rough guidelines on how often it should be replaced. Doesn't get much more universal than Velcro. It's only the boots that are actually "mounted" in the power shell system.
  19. If you guys find a pair, look into the gatormod. I broke my ankle and my ski partner broke his leg running them. Heavily research how much Velcro/250 to use for his weight, and use less for lower speed. A lot of people run these boots with no issue, but in a tip-stuff otf type fall, I've seen some pretty nasty injuries. Mine being one. Aside from my injury, I loved them, but if I could go back in time, I'd still be running EXO's.
  20. Darren is one of the nicest guys in the industry. His shop is almost a museum, along with everything new. I've been a pretty loyal HO guy most of my skiing life, but I'll tell you, that senate is sweet. And like @Ed_Obermeier mentioned, SIA is a great site to sell it of you hate it. Those Senates don't last long. Tell you what, you buy it and hate it, I'll buy it from you. I gave my uncle my 93 Nautique and I've pretty much decided, that's the ski he needs. Radar is putting out some fantastic skis. I'm on a vapor right now, well, not right now.
  21. Left or right, makes no difference @Bill22 . The plate let's you set it up either way.
  22. I tell you what. I want to host a tournament on a public river, thus semi-public course. I want it to be fun and open to everyone. That said, we'd likely be running PP boats that are closing in on 20 years old. I know I need a driver of some rating (what rating?), and a safety officer. If all I'm running is slalom, what else is needed? Does this qualify for any class, or X only, or even that? If I want to run tricks too, how many judges. Because it's a river, we won't have fixed camera/judging towers, are they needed at all? What if I format it as: 34mph, 2 passes, next skier? Speeds up the action, no one is sitting around long. Next round is the guys who made both passes first round. Those are examples of questions that I think the guys on this forum are great at handling. I've looked at the rules & regs, with some of these questions in mind and get nowhere but annoyed. To be clear, I'm only being half serious. Some of these are things I'd like to try out, some are just an example of the questions that must be answered to get mass participation. If you're of the "we don't want mass participation", or "it's not a spectator sport, it's a participatory sport", you've missed the point on both. You can't have 1 without the other. Public tournaments (like biking), and inventive (I'm not sitting around 3 hours) formatting. This horse ain't dead, I guess.
  23. Thanks @BK , that's exactly what I was talking about.
  24. How about we try to set up local tournaments and use resources on this forum, like @santangelo and @klindy. The format flexibility seems to be there within the current rules, it's just that most of us don't know or understand, or even know how to find the rules that would allow such formats. I would suggest AWSA move the contact "the competition department" to the top of the first page of the sanction events section. Start with the contact, and let the people who know what they are doing take it, to start with. Outside of that, like I said, there are a lot of very knowledgeable resources here that could help and know the rules.
