Has anyone tried the Soloshot for video

Bringing this back up. The new Soloshot3 is due for release soon. The tracker/beacon is much smaller than before. Can't tell if you can start or stop video from the beacon itself, which would be cool. New version pans at 120 degrees/second, meaning it's fast enough to follow us mortals. Should technically be able to follow pros at 41 with that, especially if it's mounted ahead of the pylon (tower mount would be cool). It requires one of their cameras for auto-zoom.

 

Seems pretty cool!

the current soloshot can pan fast enough to track your skiing but the base that pans and tilts the camera must remain stationary, which means it can't be mounted on a moving platform such as a ski boat. would work fine sitting fixed on a dock as you ski past it. apologies if some body else already mentioned this and you're still interested.

@DaveD - I am guessing that the issue is it is following based upon the beacon's GPS and the base's known GPS. If the base is stationary, then the math is a lot simpler than if both the base and the beacon are moving down the lake.
